Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Betsy Arakawa 1980s.jpg
[edit]
Thank you for uploading File:Betsy Arakawa 1980s.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Khiikiat (talk) 13:35, 2 March 2025 (UTC)

[edit] Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Sport in the Principality of Sealand, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Since you ignored the edit summaries and the talk page discussion, it seems a formal warning is in order. DrKay (talk) 20:26, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
- @DrKay: As I have already stated, the issues were previously addressed. Your claim that the sources do not support the claim is blatantly incorrect. The sources explicitly make mention of an event occurring yearly. You continuing to add the tags in spite of that is disruptive. ArtemisiaGentileschiFan (talk) 20:28, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
- Read the tags. You have not addressed the concerns written clearly in the 'reason' parameter. DrKay (talk) 20:31, 21 March 2025 (UTC)

[edit] Hello, I'm Adam Black. I noticed that you recently removed content from Mata Hari without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Adam Black talk • contribs 21:28, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Adam Black: My edit summary did explain why the content was removed. My edit summary linked to MOS:POPCULT, which states that trivia sections should be avoided. ArtemisiaGentileschiFan (talk) 22:18, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- Linking to a long, 9.6 kB policy page with multiple sections does not adequately explain why you removed a large chunk of content. Also, I wouldn't call a list of films, stage musicals and songs based on Hari mere "trivia". Some individual content in that section may warrant removal, but much of it is relevant to the article. Adam Black talk • contribs 07:25, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
- Just because you don't consider the policy page I linked to be a good enough explanation doesn't mean that I did not leave an edit summary or that I did not explain my edit. ArtemisiaGentileschiFan (talk) 10:22, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
I noticed that you recently removed content from Mata Hari without adequately explaining why.
(emphasis added) - my issue was that the explanation was not adequate. Adam Black talk • contribs 18:36, 16 May 2025 (UTC)- @Adam Black This is shaping up to be a run of the mill content dispute; please don't use anti-vandalism tools or warnings for those. It can come off as patronizing or insulting (

) and, as you can see here, rarely leads to productive conversations. GreenLipstickLesbian💌🦋 18:47, 16 May 2025 (UTC)- This edit was flagged as likely vandalism in my recent edits feed which is the only reason I reviewed it. - @Adam Black.... okay, that's what I was worried about. An experienced editor removing a large amount of unsourced and dubiously sourced content, with an explanation in the edit summary, isn't vandalism. You might disagree with the change, that's fair, but it's not, by any stretch of the imagination, anything resembling a

That's not okay, but digging in and insisting that it was vandalism is worse. I originally thought you might have just been going a bit too quickly and used the anti-vandalism tools in a content dispute because you found it more convenient than a manual revert, hence my original comment, but I was worried that you did see the edit as vandalism - but in case you did, I was trying to give you an opportunity to save face and pivot the conversation back to the actual content dispute. [edit] Do not remove content from pages on Wikipedia, as you did at List of individual cetaceans, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you want to change the scope of the list, you need to discuss it on the talk page first. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that.

- To clarify, the scope is given in the lead:
This list includes individuals from real life or fiction
— W.andrea (talk) 00:21, 6 July 2025 (UTC)- I made a WP:BOLD edit to improve the content of the page based on the precedent established by other pages (IE List of individual dogs, etc). I don't think it's necessary to tag me with a vandalism template. I absolutely did give a proper edit summary. ArtemisiaGentileschiFan (talk) 00:41, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
What you said wasI absolutely did give a proper edit summary.
removed fictional characters
. You didn't say why. Don't get me wrong, what you wrote is better than nothing, but the point of an edit summary is to explain an edit to other editors, and the 'why' is just as important as the 'what'.
You removed a large chunk of content from a page without adequate explanation, which is absolutely akin to vandalism. I'm assuming good faith of course, but I wanted to get across the severity.I don't think it's necessary to tag me with a vandalism template.
Sure, and we could consider adopting the same precedent on this page, but that needs to be discussed first. Like I said, the scope is clearly defined in the lead. Did you not see it or what? By the way, at least one other person has tried removing trivial entries, and I'm on the fence myself about some of them.precedent established by other pages

[edit]It's good that you have removed the copyright violation of her profile picture, but the photo has similar issues, mainly with issues of license verification (namely, the author of the photo may not have released the image under the appropriate license). Autopatrolled granted
[edit]
Hi ArtemisiaGentileschiFan, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.
Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.
Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Chetsford (talk) 20:02, 22 July 2025 (UTC)

Arrest of Rodrigo Duterte
[edit]Hi ArtemisiaGentileschiFan,
I undid your addition of WikiProject Law Enforcement to the talk page of the Arrest of Rodrigo Duterte. If you read that WikiProject's Scope section you will see that articles about crime and criminals are outside scope of WikiProject Law Enforcement. If you had scanned the previous edits to the article's tak pahe you might have also noticed that the same wikiproject had been removed previously with an edit summary that explained the article was out of scope. While executing an arrest warrant is something that police may undertake as part of their day to day workload, a particular arrest is not directly Law Enforcement related because it involves the Police acting on an arrest warrant that has been issued by a judicial authority in response to a criminal charge or allegation. Since the article is already in the scope of WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography, there is no point in it also being in the scope of WikiProject Law Enforcement]], as the two WikiProjects are complementary and don't cover the same ground. Also please see the guidelines WP:PROJSCOPE and WP:OVERBANNER for the broader policy about adding WikiProject banners of low importance. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 21:17, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
Please leave descriptive edit summaries that explain your edits
[edit] Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that your recent edit to Talk:Impeachment of Yoon Suk Yeol did not have an edit summary. Collaboration among editors is fundamental to Wikipedia, and every edit should be explained by a clear edit summary, or by discussion on the talk page. Please use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit and/or to describe what it changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.
The edit summary field looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
or in the visual editor:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. When logged in to your Wikipedia account, you can give yourself a reminder by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary (or the default undo summary), and then click the "Save" button.
Because your edit summary did not provide an explanation for why you added the WikiProject Crime banner to the Impeachment of Yoon Suk Yeol article, I have removed the banner. Also the article mentions that "the impeachment trial is not a criminal proceeding" so the article would appear to be out of scope of that WikiProject, too. If you had provided an edit summary, I might have better understood your reasons for adding the banner. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 23:10, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Category:2025 animal births
[edit]
A tag has been placed on Category:2025 animal births indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 17:25, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

Rationalist Community related articles
[edit]I honestly don't understand why people seem so quick to call out people in this particular article space. I had an issue the other day where I was accused of edit warring because, after a single revert, I responded to a request for additional sources for a certain piece of information by finding and inserting a high quality source for a piece of information. And now you've got people talking about "low-quality" edits based on a similar context - a single edit. I'm kind of scratching my head at the level of sensitivity. My suspicion is someone in the LW community is making noise about unfairness on WP on their forums. Simonm223 (talk) 12:21, 8 August 2025 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
