Pledge review
[edit]I was planning to start a pledge review around today, but I caught a cold and my body temperature spiked to 38.6℃ and I had to rest. Is there any advice on what issues to check for? I'm not good at writing prose and I struggle to find much problems to raise. (Thinking about reviewing a random transport article) AlphaBetaGamma (Talk/report any mistakes here) 10:17, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hey @AlphaBetaGamma, I hope your cold clears itself up soon. There's no rush to start a review when you're ill! When you do though, I would recommend reviewing an article on a subject you are familiar with (transport sounds good). Feel free to start the review and ping me there. Here is some advice on how to go about the review in a way that ensures it is done properly, but also not too in-depth for GA:
- It's a good idea to structure your review based on the criteria. Different reviewers do this in different ways. Some use the templates linked in the "GA toolbox" on the right, others just create section headings based on the criteria. I personally think the clearest way to do it is with this (feel free to copy+paste) or a similar structure, but you are free to use if you would like.
- It's a good idea to keep track of how you evaluated the criteria as you go along, even if you find no issues. It means others can see you are checking everything, and allows you to keep track of the review better. For example, when evaluating the scope/broadness (criterion 3), you might write "The structure appears to follow the same structure as other GA and FA articles on this topic. I see no major omitted areas."
- Regarding checking prose, you don't need to be amazing at prose at all for reviewing a GA. Generally you should just read through the article and see that you understand everything. If you read through and don't understand something the article is saying, that normally means it is not clear enough. IAWW (talk) 11:16, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
2025 Aquatics
[edit]Hello. Don't worry. There is a big confusion. Why?
1) On 2024 we had one country: Neutral Indepent Athletes (one federation).
2) On 2025 we have two countries: Neutral Athlete A and Neutral Atlete B (two fedrations and without the word 'Indepent')
How we know about it? 1) Here [1] prior April 2025 at Diving World Cup.
- NAA means Neutral Athlete A it's a new extraordinary federation for banned athletes from Belarus.
- NAB means Neutral Athlete B it's a new extraordinary federation for banned athletes from Russia.
- NAC means Neutral Athlete C for banned athletes from Mexico (wich no longer exists).
Are there references about that?
1) Medal table [2]: you can see Neutral Athlete A and Neutral Atlete B as 2 different countries.
2) The athletes ID registration [3]
3) General results [4]
4) The Official results document, for example click here
[5] so as to see about Neutral Athletes A (Belarus).
Why do we have a confusion? 1) On 2024 we must have one page called Neutral Independent Athletes at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships 2) On 2025 we should have had 2 pages called:
- Neutral Athletes A at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships
- Neutral Athletes B at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships (I think the creator did not know about it).
Of course it's a very extraordinary and confusing topic.
Thank you so much! Rey1996ss (talk) 17:07, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hey @Rey1996ss, thanks for getting back to me! I appreciate that you took the time to explain your thought process. I do understand exactly what happened, but unfortunately we cannot include this information in the encyclopedia unless we can find a reliable source that explicitly says it. I highly recommend reading Wikipedia:No original research for further explanation.
- I found this source which explicitly says the Neutral Athletes B are from Russia: [6]
- If you can find another source which explicitly says the Neutral Athletes B are from Russia, you can add that information. IAWW (talk) 19:00, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
- Unfortunately I could'nt find a reliable source that had published the name "Neutral Independent Athletes" so I moved it to Neutral Athletes (without the word Independet). I reckon that the official countries must be as follow:
- 2024: Neutral Independent Athletes
- 2025: the name changed to Neutral Athletes (A or B).
- Would you mind if you helped me, please?
- Because some user get mad when someone Remames an article.
- Thank you! Rey1996ss (talk) 20:21, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Rey1996ss I think that change was good. I'm not sure what you want help with? IAWW (talk) 12:35, 22 July 2025 (UTC)

Suggestion
[edit]Swimming at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships – Men's 100 metre freestyle Unfortunately had an issue. I invite you to keep calm, because that user in the past I had sometimes like this:
2022: I published the secondary source but he told me that we didn't need the secondary source, only the original.
2025: Now he wants the secondary source, not only the original.
So I think some user don't read the info. or simple are using a robot so as to delete many articles/info.
So, What the users want? No body knows. Because we use the rules for wikipedia, princial source, secondary source and for them it is useless. I think because they think that they are the Owners of the articles.
But I thank your all editions on 2025 Aquatics WC. Thnak you! Rey1996ss (talk) 20:18, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hey @Rey1996ss, I'm not sure what issue you mean? Nonetheless I appreciate your kind words :) IAWW (talk) 20:27, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

Your draft "Swimming at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships – Men's 4 × 200 metre freestyle relay"
[edit]I moved it from Swimming at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships – Men's 4 × 200 metre freestyle relay to Draft:Swimming at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships – Men's 4 × 200 metre freestyle relay, as it is clearly not ready for main. It looks like you have merged three different articles into one without any editing, so, at a minimum, substantial cleanup is required. Paradoctor (talk) 04:36, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hey @Paradoctor thanks for catching this. I'm not sure how I managed to do that but the first and last bits were the intended article IAWW (talk) 07:44, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- No problem. You might want to nominate the draft for shredding. Happy editing! Paradoctor (talk) 09:05, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
Spot checking script
[edit]I'm going to end up getting back into review soon and would like to try it out. Is it available for use? Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 21:05, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Sammi unfortunately not, and it's rather limited. It currently only works well for Genealogy Bank and Newspapers.com articles as I wrote it specifically with the purpose of reviewing your articles! It also has numerous issues, like it can't check Template:r refs, refs with second pages linked from the page numbers, it can't see the date of publication etc. Nonetheless I can make it work for the limited purpose of reviewing your articles. I also think it probably currently only works on Linux.
- I would really love to make this a tool like Earwig. I think it would be invaluable for GA reviewers, but I really don't have the coding experience to make it work well currently – I'm just learning as I go along. I am actively working on it however, and I'll let you know if I can get it to work well on a web server. IAWW (talk) 11:51, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
DYK for Phyllis Lightbourn-Jones
[edit]On 9 August 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Phyllis Lightbourn-Jones, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Phyllis Lightbourn-Jones and Phyllis Edness both competed in the 1948 Olympics and were respectively the first woman and first black woman to compete for Bermuda? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Phyllis Edness. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Phyllis Lightbourn-Jones), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
