DYK for Gabriel Rucker

On 1 July 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Gabriel Rucker, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. How did the world's largest naked bike ride never get an article until this month?

By the way I suppose the Fremont Solstice Parade naked biking is related but not part of WNBR? ☆ Bri (talk) 00:38, 2 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Bri I'm not exactly sure how various iterations of WNBR are connected. There have also been other naked bike rides in Portland outside the "traditional" annual event. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Hetero Awesome Fest requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Potential merge of Harvey Milk Plaza

[edit]
Extended content

As I'm cleaning up and updating Harvey Milk Plaza, I'm realizing that it might be best to merge it with Castro station. The histories of the two are so entwined that there ends of being a lot of duplication; I think one article with a cohesive history would serve readers better. Would you object to that? Pi.1415926535 (talk) 21:46, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Pi.1415926535 If there's enough detail and sourcing, I'd prefer a standalone article specifically focused on the plaza, but if this is not possible then a merge may be appropriate. I'm not terribly familiar with the history here. @Mliu92: Based on your work on United Nations Plaza (San Francisco), I wonder if you have any thoughts here. Also, Pi.1415926535, it might be better to have this discussion on the article's Talk page, not here. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:52, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You're the other significant contributor to the plaza article who's still active, so I wanted to get your opinion first. It's definitely a different situation from UN Plaza, which has significant history independent from the station. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 22:03, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Pi.1415926535 I understand and appreciate that you've asked here first, but I think allowing others to weigh in would be helpful. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:09, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Jiufen Mingsheng Temple moved to draftspace

[edit]
Extended content

Thanks for your contributions to Jiufen Mingsheng Temple. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources, it needs more sources to establish notability and it has no content besides a statement of existence. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Reywas92Talk 17:12, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

LEAVE ME ALONE ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:15, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The one source you added does not appear to be a reliable source. The article still needs more sources to establish notability and it still has no content besides a mere statement of existence. This is what draft space is for. — Reywas92Talk 17:32, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
WHAT PART OF LEAVE ME ALONE DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND? ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:33, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Another Believer. This a collaborative project. As such, a certain amount of communication is necessary. This includes letting editors know when their contributions may not be in full accord with our policies and guidelines. Reywas92's messages fall under that heading. Please take note of these messages as persistently making edits that are inconsistent with community standards can be seen as disruptive. Thank you for your contributions to the project. -Ad Orientem (talk) 19:26, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Ad Orientem I have asked this editor to leave me alone many, many times, for years. I have also asked them to stop posting to my user talk page, which I have every right to do. It is clear they are unwilling to do this and continue to make unnecessary edits and leave snarky edit summaries, even when others have asked them to stop and even when I am working in the draft space. I don't appreciate being followed and hounded, and I don't think it's too much to ask to be left alone. If you're going to leave a note on my talk page, I hope you will do the same to the editor who refuses to leave me alone. Thanks, ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:30, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Here's the problem. As far as I can tell, the concerns they are raising are legitimate. Jiufen Mingsheng Temple was originally unsourced, and currently has only one, which probably does not meet our standards as a reliable source. And it is certainly insufficient to establish encyclopedic notability. Requesting that a user stay off your talk page can be made. But that does not extend to legitimate notices or communication required for the smooth running of the project. Please see WP:KEEPOFF. I would encourage you to move your page back to draft space until you have an opportunity to flesh it out with enough details backed by reliable independent sources to establish notability.
@Reywas92 While I am satisfied that your notices here are justified, do take note when another editor asks you to stay off their page, as far as possible. And while I am not in any way accusing you of any impropriety, please be aware of our guideline on WP:HOUNDING, which is a no no. Sometimes when you have strained relations with another editor, it's better to refer any issues or concerns to another experienced editor to avoid misunderstandings or aggravating what may already be a chilly relationship. -Ad Orientem (talk) 19:47, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Ad Orientem I'm not worried about the fate of an article about a temple. I'm concerned about a persistent behavioral issue and an unwillingness to respect my requests to be left alone. This editor clearly knows what they are doing and they seem to enjoy disrupting my editing experience. Don't take my word for it -- check the editor interaction tools! Please don't ping them to join this discussion. I do not want to interact with this editor in any capacity, ever. Thanks, ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:59, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've left a note on their talk page. However, I reiterate that I substantially agree with the concerns that they were raising about the page in question. Please move it back to draft space pending expansion and better sourcing. I now regard this matter as resolved. Thank you. -Ad Orientem (talk) 20:21, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You may consider this resolved, but I do not. The editor's dislike for stubs does not give them the right to continue harassing and hounding me. I expect the editor will leave me alone moving forward, otherwise I will be pursuing an interaction ban. FYI to User:Liz, who has approached the editor about their actions towards me before. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:30, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Stubs are allowed. However, they must contain enough information coupled with sufficient sourcing to establish the notability of the subject. Those are minimal standards and I believe their concern is that some of your pages have not met that rather low bar. You are of course free to take this to ANI and request an IBan. However, in my experience ANI is not a venue known for happy endings. If you do choose to go there, be aware that your own record will also be under scrutiny. Telling people to leave you alone and/or keep off your page cannot be used to shut down legitimate scrutiny of your own editing or other legitimate communication. Again, this is a collaborative project. To give a personal example; I have been an editor for 13 years and admin for almost ten. I have well over 80,000 edits and by the very nature of being an admin, I have to interact with other editors all the time. Sometimes those interactions can get a little testy. But in all that time, I have had to tell exactly three editors to stay off my talk page and not communicate with me. One was a temporary spat long since resolved. One was so long ago, I'm not even sure they are still editing. And the last, and most recent ended up being indeffed by another admin less than two days later for trolling. So are there legitimate instances for where demanding zero interaction can be justified? Yes. But in my experience it's not common. -Ad Orientem (talk) 21:04, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Ad Orientem: I'm fully aware and not backing down. I know well enough how ANI works and I'm familiar enough with editor interaction tools to have my receipts in order. There are a million ways to contribute to Wikipedia, but harassing me doesn't need to be one of them. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:17, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. You do what you think you need to. -Ad Orientem (talk) 21:22, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure if I can add a citation needed template

[edit]
Extended content

Since I remember adding the countries that had Yifang Taiwan Fruit Tea locations in the infobox from the Chinese Wikipedia and you reverted them because they didn't cite any sources, is it okay if I add a citation needed template for the countries that have Yifang Taiwan Fruit Tea since statements that are unsourced need a citation needed template? DiscoveringMysteries03 (talk) 18:13, 15 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@DiscoveringMysteries03 It would be better if you included sources to verify specific locations. If there are not sources confirming operations in select countries, then there's probably not a need to include the locations on Wikipedia. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:15, 15 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Then how come that's the case when there needs to be a citation needed template to tell if a statement is unsourced? DiscoveringMysteries03 (talk) 18:33, 15 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@DiscoveringMysteries03 I'm not sure why you feel so strongly about mentioning specific countries without sources. I was just trying to keep the page sourced but I guess do what you want. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:37, 15 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions to Free America Weekend. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Free America Weekend closed with this result. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Owen× 12:48, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

OneClickArchiver

[edit]
Extended content

Hi, re these four edits. I know that it's an automated script; but I don't understand why those two threads each needed a separate archive. The {{User:MiszaBot/config}} has |maxarchivesize=70k and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Science/Archive 8 is less than 60k - those two threads, which totalled 1,659 bytes, would not have taken it over the limit. Archive 9 certainly didn't need to be closed off at just 1,121 bytes. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 13:29, 2 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Redrose64 Yeah, I'm not sure why new pages were created. I wish OneClickArchiver worked the same across all talk pages. ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:31, 2 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How about we revert those four edits and speedy-delete archives 9 and 10 per WP:CSD#G7. Then we can either manually archive the two threads to archive 8, or wait for lowercase sigmabot III to drop by. They might take two or three weeks to become eligible for bot archiving. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 23:09, 2 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Enos733 I'm not going to stop creating entries for the major demonstrations taking place monthly in the US. I believe these are clearly notable and important forks that offer context re: protests against the second Trump presidency. This one could easily be expanded to be in line with the many other Trump protest entries, but I'm tired of AfD discussions so I'll move on to other things. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:51, 4 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Dinolandia - Sidequest

[edit]

Hi @Another Believer,

I wanted to talk about a way to improve the article that isn't strictly required for GA, but would certainly be helpful and come in handy if you want to nominate the article for FA in the future. The article currently doesn't have any photos of the actual exhibit, but I know a place where you could get some! Mike Bennett has an official website for Dinolandia, which has many incredible photos. There's a chance he will release a few photos of the exhibit if you just ask. The website has a contact section, if you want to try. Just to reiterate, this isn't required for the GA review, which is why I'm contacting you here, I just wanted to present you with an opportunity that might be useful in improving the article.

Thanks, Surfinsi (talk) 16:37, 5 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Surfinsi Thanks, I appreciate the suggestion and have plans to help get the article illustrated at some point in the future. :) ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:50, 5 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators' newsletter – August 2025

[edit]

News and updates for administrators from the past month (July 2025).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, G15, has been enacted. It applies to pages generated by a large language model (LLM) without human review.
  • Following a request for comment, there is a new policy outlining the granting of permissions to view the IP addresses of temporary accounts. Temporary account deployment on the English Wikipedia is currently scheduled for September 2025, and editors can request access to the permission ahead of time. Admins are encouraged to keep an eye on the request page; there will likely be a flood of editors requesting the permission when they realize they can no longer see IP addresses.

Technical news

Arbitration

  • The arbitration case Indian military history has been closed.
    • South Asia (WP:CT/SA) is designated a contentious topic. The topic area is specifically defined as All pages related to the region of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups.
    • The contentious topic designations for Sri Lanka (SL) and India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan (IPA) are folded into this new contentious topic.
    • The community-authorized general sanctions regarding South Asian social groups (GS/CASTE) are rescinded and folded into this new contentious topic.
  • The arbitration case Article titles and capitalisation 2 has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case closed on 31 July.
  • The arbitration case Transgender healthcare and people has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case will close on 11 August.

Miscellaneous

  • Wikimania 2025 is happening in Nairobi, Kenya, and online from August 6 to August 9. This year marks 20 years of Wikimania. Interested users can join the online event. Registration for the virtual event is free and will remain open throughout Wikimania. You can register here now.

Notice

The article Dead Dance (song) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Most of the given sources don't even provide a name, and it's too soon for a separate article anyway when there is no WP:SIGCOV for an unreleased track with a flimsy attribution of unspecified "sources" giving a title, which isn't sufficient to count as confirmation and the lack of transparency is suspicious.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This is an automated notification. Please refer to the page's history for further information. DatBot (talk) 00:31, 9 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
