- Hi, all new articles on Wikipedia have to show the subject is notable (See WP:N) which in most cases requires significant coverage (WP:SIGCOV) in multiple independent (WP:INDY) reliable sources (WP:RS). You currently only have a single source that shows it exists but not that it is notable. Regards KylieTastic (talk) 17:21, 28 June 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of The Reprieve (1972 film)
[edit]Hello Matthew John Drummond,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged The Reprieve (1972 film) for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

While this site is a collaborative project, it (to me at least) seems weird to ask an editor who's there to just tell you your article was rejected, to do the research you're supposed to be doing. Harryhenry1 (talk) 13:23, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- WRT most of the editors' comments above: more on providing sources can be found here.--AntientNestor (talk) 11:29, 31 December 2024 (UTC)

Links to draft articles
[edit] Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to Candida (play). Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been removed. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 13:45, 19 January 2025 (UTC)

- I've added two critic reviews. Matthew John Drummond (talk) 20:05, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
- This here is not a review and Michael Simpson is the director of the play. This here is also not a review but a BLOG. One and only the best source you have on the page is this one by NY Times. But this alone is not enough for a standalone article on the play. My suggestion to you is to merge the best source and some content to page She_Loves_Me#Other_productions. [edit] Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article, or a draft for a Wikipedia article, about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. The article Kitty Clive (TV play) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Not notable. After cleaning up the references we are left with an obscure TV play that fails WP:GNG. The two sources are trivial mentions, eg the Daily Mirror entry in its entirety is "Kitty Clive" in a TV listing guide. It doesn't even merit a specific time. It isn't even clear this is the same TV play,

[edit]User:Drmies what else should I add to this draft since I've been editing it more. Matthew John Drummond (talk) 00:50, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Drmies since the tag on the original post doesn't work. Harryhenry1 (talk) 02:19, 25 May 2025 (UTC)

ToadetteEdit (7M articles) 06:21, 25 May 2025 (UTC)- ToadetteEdit, I don't get it. Did you see the four newspaper articles that are supposed to add notability? Drmies (talk) 12:54, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- I rechecked the sources in the article. As far as I know, newspaper sources are in a paywall. So, in the assumption that it discusses the subject in detail, I have accepted it because the topic could plausibly pass AfD. I am OK with an AfD if someone has a chance to analyze the sources to check the significance of the subject. ToadetteEdit (7M articles) 13:07, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- So, User:ToadetteEdit. you assumed that what could have been simple TV listings, and one article in a local newspaper, would provide sufficient coverage for notability. I also note you did nothing with the comments made by User:OlifanofmrTennant and User:Ktkvtsh, who made serious complaints about content, writing, and sourcing--neither of them thought it was well sourced. And in your cleanup after accepting it, you seem to have skipped over the many serious deficiencies I edited out here, including basic capitalization. Drmies (talk) 15:17, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hmm, it appears that I have not found the subtle issues on the page; thanks for noticing that. But since the notability is somewhat unclear, I might reconsider bringing it up to AfD if it fits. ToadetteEdit (7M articles) 15:24, 25 May 2025 (UTC)

[edit]@CoconutOctopus what else could I add to Matthew Drummond Draft. Matthew John Drummond (talk) 16:16, 25 May 2025 (UTC)

- He just tried moving Bumper Films into being a page just for Rocky Hollow, even though it's still just a draft currently. Harryhenry1 (talk) 14:15, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
What do you mean by this edit reason?
[edit]"The original Wikipedia page about this article was about a tv show something completely different from what the article has been turned into now." - but that page has always been just about Bumper Films since 2007, why change it to just be about Rocky Hollow? Harryhenry1 (talk) 14:18, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
- Then why was it originally called Rocky Hollow. Matthew John Drummond (talk) 16:37, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
- I'm still not following you here, this page was never solely about Rocky Hollow until this weird page move. Here is the earliest version of Bumper Films page from 2007. Harryhenry1 (talk) 16:39, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
- When I click on Rocky Hollow it says it has been retracted to Bumper Films. Matthew John Drummond (talk) 16:40, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, because you can't just turn an article into another, completely different article - I moved it back to how it was originally, and it created redirects in the process. Why did you do that to begin with? Harryhenry1 (talk) 16:43, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
- When I clicked on Rocky Hollow from Peter Sallis Wikipedia it said (Redirected from Rocky Hollow) which then made me think it was originally about Rocky Hollow the tv series until it was then changed to Bumper Films or at least that's what I think it was originally about I can't find the original page of what it looked like. Matthew John Drummond (talk) 16:46, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
- The Bumper Films page has always just been about Bumper Films, never just Rocky Hollow. Look at the page's edit history linked here to see what I mean. I already linked you to the earliest version of the page from 2007 a few replies. What you clicked was the page just called Rocky Hollow having been turned into a redirect to Bumper Films. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Musical Television Actors

A tag has been placed on Category:Musical Television Actors indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. ✗plicit 02:10, 14 July 2025 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:The Wind in the Willows.png

A tag has been placed on File:The Wind in the Willows.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 00:53, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

. DoubleGrazing (talk) 05:11, 18 July 2025 (UTC)- I expect I don't really need to tell you why I've blocked you, but just in case it isn't obvious, the block is for repeatedly gaming the system and other disruptive behaviour despite countless warnings and advice. You were told some three weeks ago that if you continue wasting other editors' time, you will be blocked, but you seem to have ignored that warning, so here comes that block now. You seem capable of producing good work, even if it is occasionally of borderline notability, but you need to start working better with others, not trying to fight the system when you don't get your way, and you certainly need to stop the blatant gaming behaviour. I hope this short block gets you to understand that, because if you continue in this fashion, the next block will be considerably longer. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 05:19, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

[edit] Hello, Matthew John Drummond. This is a bot-delivered message letting you know that Draft:Wallace & Gromit Fun Pack, a page you created, has not been edited in at least 5 months. Drafts that have not been edited for six months may be deleted, so if you wish to retain the page, please edit it again or request that it be moved to your userspace.

Recreating a deleted article with the same title, previously submitted and rejected twice before under different names is a case of WP:GAMING the article draft system, the same kind that led to your ban. If you don't want to get further bans, I implore you to stop doing this. Harryhenry1 (talk) 07:37, 20 July 2025 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:The Wind in the Willows (TV series) (1984).jpeg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:The Wind in the Willows (TV series) (1984).jpeg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under the non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. - Hi @Matthew John Drummond, have you seen the warning that you might have your account blocked if you keep submitting rejected versions of drafts? qcne (talk) 13:06, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
- To be honest, I'm not even sure if Thomas and the Magic Railroad would even count for such a list? The current sources are just negative reviews of the movie, which (in my opinion) isn't enough to consider it for a list of "the worst films ever based on a television show". Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Prometheus- The Life of Balzac.png
[edit]
Thank you for uploading File:Prometheus- The Life of Balzac.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 15:33, 22 July 2025 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Ben Whitehead.jpeg
[edit]
A tag has been placed on File:Ben Whitehead.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a copyright violation of https://www.thevoiceagency.co.uk/artists/ben-whitehead and has no credible claim of fair use or permission. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
Whpq (talk) 15:34, 22 July 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
[edit] Hello Matthew John Drummond! Your additions to File:Ben Whitehead.jpeg have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license—to request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § Licensing.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 17:14, 22 July 2025 (UTC)

Request reason:
You haven't given me a chance to see were I went wrong with the images. Also for the drafts that I've just started on I haven't been able to get the reliable references for them now they can't be submitted such as my draft for Jackanory Playhouse and Premiere (1977 TV series)
Decline reason:
What nonsense. You were first warned about copyright in August, 2024. Ten months is more than enough time for you to see where you were going wrong with copyright. That you were unwilling to change your behaviour is why you were blocked. Yamla (talk) 18:19, 22 July 2025 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- You have received many notices about copyright on your talk page going back nearly a year. You are still uploading random images you find on the internet today. Enough is enough. There are significant issues with your edits, which you don't seem able to understand no matter how many times they are explained. Not everyone who wants to contribute is able to do so productively and within our policies and guidelines. That seems to be the case here and you'll need to demonstrate a much better understanding of notability, sourcing, the article creation process and copyright if you would like to edit here in the future.-- Ponyobons mots 17:52, 22 July 2025 (UTC)

- I am not sure what you mean but an admin will review your unblock request but it may take a while as unblock requests are chronically backlogged (there's 102 right now). In the interim, I suggest reading WP:GAB as I don't think what you written is sufficient. S0091 (talk) 18:06, 22 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Matthew John Drummond From the interactions we've had, the drafts you've made, the copyright issues: I genuinely don't think you have the competence required to use Wikipedia at this time. You are clearly passionate about older television plays, I would really recommend making your own blog where you detail these, because they are not appropriate for Wikipedia and you are now blocked. A personal blog would give you the freedom and creative control to build the types of articles you want. qcne (talk) 19:08, 22 July 2025 (UTC)
- There' also Fandom (website) which might have a wiki. S0091 (talk) 19:12, 22 July 2025 (UTC)
- Slight clarification: I don't think it's television plays he's passionate about, rather it's just the plays (or really just any piece of media) that features Peter Sallis in it - his article has been bloated to mention everything Sallis has been involved with, and he's been insistent on pushing articles on subjects that feature Sallis, even when they don't meet the reliability standards of this site. Request reason:
The drafts for Wallace & Gromit Fun Pack, Jackanory Playhouse, Premiere (1977 TV series) and Rat (The Wind in the Willows) are far from unfinished and will be deleted with out getting the BBC Genome Project references for the tv show ones the book references for the character of Rat for The Wind in the Willows and the video game websites that detail information for Wallace & Gromit: Fun Pack. Also they will be deleted in about 4 to 6 months. Also if you want me too I'll give up on adding images for Wikipedia pages until I'm way better than before.
Decline reason:
Based on the below conversation, there appears to be competence issues in addition to copyright. You should address both in your next unblock request. PhilKnight (talk) 14:03, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You seem to think copyright only applies to images. Nor is the rest of your unblock request at all relevant. --Yamla (talk) 00:27, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

- I get what the page is trying to say in the Responding to suspected lack of competence with me Repeated mistakes, I've also been making repeated mistakes, verify whether the user has been given any advice or instruction in how to do things correctly. Most users want to contribute productively but simply may not know how to do so. If it appears no-one has explained a problem with their edits, doing so should always be the first step. The page User:Yunshui/decline copyvio and Wikipedia:Competence is required explains fully why I got banned. Which is why I said it’s best if I stop trying to add images to Wikipedia. - It's very clear you lack sufficient competence to understand what you are being told, or to communicate with other editors here. If English is not your primary language, please consider contributing on the version of Wikipedia in your own native language. en.wikipedia.org isn't the place for you. I will not respond further. --Yamla (talk) 14:07, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- When the page Wikipedia:Competence is required says the lack of clean up on Wikipedia pages. For the pages I've made drafts for such as Candida (1961 TV play) I've cleaned up this page many times and the final draft version I made was able to get submitted. Matthew John Drummond (talk) 14:20, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- Candida (1961 TV play) has required a LOT more clean up since! Theroadislong (talk) 15:31, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- What about these Wikipedia pages I created that being World Theatre (TV series), She Loves Me (1979 TV play) The Secret Agent (1975 TV play), The Snowdropper and The Adventures of Alice Matthew John Drummond (talk) 19:49, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- I have removed inappropriate tone from those. Theroadislong (talk) 19:57, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- I mainly had words like sadly in the pages to make it look more real and added sources online like the era.org one's to show as much information about them as possible. Also when I looked at the Joshua Jones (TV series) Wikipedia page I saw that page had only 5 references and many bits of information some without a reference connection. So my draft of Draft:Rocky Hollow (British TV series) I added lots of information about the series with up to 6 to 8 references, but didn't make the sentences sound better. I apologise. Matthew John Drummond (talk) 20:05, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- Using words like "sadly" in your drafts doesn't make your pages "more real", it makes them seem more like amateur blog posts and not professional articles. Harryhenry1 (talk) 02:15, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- Also I mainly made the sentences long or short some times for every draft I made so that way they did look the same. Matthew John Drummond (talk) 20:10, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- None of your replies show an indication you have the competence to edit Wikipedia. I'm really sorry. I really suggest you get a blog where you can create these articles without the rules and policies on Wikipedia. qcne (talk) 20:12, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

- @Matthew John Drummond Did you see my earlier advice to perhaps get a personal blog for your television show drafts, instead of Wikipedia? I think that would be easier for you. qcne (talk) 14:26, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- Your own drafts have contained plenty of examples of bad grammar and un-encyclopedic language that I've had to clean up after the fact. And just being able to clean up Wikipedia pages isn't enough to be considered competent for the site. Do you understand why your poor grammar and confusing language might be turning editors off from allowing you back? Harryhenry1 (talk) 15:21, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

I've realised many of my mistakes I've done with some of my Wikipedia draft and I will and improve on the spelling pits. I will also go back and correct the mistakes on the Wikipedia pages I created. Also I'll try and improve on the drafts that was working on before hand like Wallace & Gromit Fun Pack, Jackanory Playhouse, Premiere (1977 TV series) and Rat (The Wind in the Willows). Also if you want me too I can stop adding images to pages on Wikipedia because of copyright problems. Although if you want me too I can improve the images for The Adventures of Alice, Leave it to Charlie and the Of Funerals and Fish image. Or delete them if you want to because I don't mind since I'm not to happy with some of them now that I look back at a few of them.

This barely comprehensible appeal in no way convinces me that it would be safe to unblock you. You need to address all the reasons that have brought you to this point, and do that in a clear and compelling manner, which this isn't.

[edit]User:DoubleGrazing Do you mean the copyright info from Yamla that I had been told about back in August of 2024. I completely forgot about that. Also I can't find the warning from that time period. Also I have autism in case you want to know but I'm completely fine. Matthew John Drummond (talk) 16:09, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Matthew John Drummond I truly think you might not have the skills to contribute to Wikipedia, and I would really suggest setting up a blog where you can add Peter Sallis-related articles, without having to work within our strict rules. What do you think of that as an option? qcne (talk) 17:46, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

I've noticed that the Wikipedia page Ben Whitehead from the File:Ben Whitehead.jpeg is what caused me to get block because they have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain. I do apologise for using the link. I will look for more suitable sources and provide more evidence. Also I will go back and correct the mistakes and issues with the Wikipedia pages photo files for The Adventures of Alice and Leave it to Charlie. Also I'd like to ask for a retraction from the original complainant. Also my gramma mistakes as well as some of the references I added to some of the Wikipedia pages I created I would like to change because I'm not so happy with them now looking back at them. That's another reason why I want to be unblocked.
