WP:PLACEDAB and Nigeria

[edit]

Hi, I notice that you've been active in making pagemoves and requested moves over the last while. As you know, I've started a discussion concerning WP:PLACEDAB and expect that the current policy will be updated soon. This would mean that all ambiguous Nigerian cities would follow the format Placename, Nigeria, and not Placename, State as the policy currently specifies. I'd ask that you consider pausing your activity for a few days; once the policy is in place, then these moves will be uncontroversial and the articles can be moved per the new standard. 162 etc. (talk)

162 etc. Okay, but what about the ones that have been moved? Josedimaria237 (talk) 18:34, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A barnster for you

[edit]
The Football Barnstar
So Super 6 ended yesterday, and I was thinking about creating time to work on the article. It was nice to see you already beat me to it. I use to be only one committed to updating these articles, but I feel really glad to know that there is someone else that is dedicated to creating detailed articles on our elite football. For this reason, I am issuing you this barnster. HandsomeBoy (talk) 14:15, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am a member of a closed WhatsApp group that contains most of the key administrators in the NWFL, I am wondering if you are also there? HandsomeBoy (talk) 14:17, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I am even surprised that there are other Wikipedians concerned about NWFL and Nigerian women's football.

I am not on that WhatsApp group. Josedimaria237 (talk) 15:01, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What's even more surprising is that we are both male, where are the Nigerian women editors????. I actually started contributing in this area because of the obvious content gap, but along the line I started to really follow and enjoy women's football. I streamed the entire UWCL game on YouTube live, and I really enjoyed that game. For Nigeria, I mostly only watch highlights, but will be glad to visit a stadium one of this days, at least it will be an avenue to get pictures into some of these wiki articles. Hope you have joined WikiProject Nigeria? HandsomeBoy (talk) 15:14, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Me too I would like to watch an NWFL game and I follow women's football a lot.

I will like to join WikiProject Nigeria because a lot of Nigerian articles need heavy updates and I need users who can contribute to Nigerian football updates with pictures, I am finding it difficult to upload pictures on Wikipedia and I have stopped as it may lead to me getting blocked if I remain persistent. Josedimaria237 (talk) 15:40, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You can join WP:WikiProject Nigeria by following this wikilink Wikipedia:WikiProject_Nigeria#Active_members, and adding your username to the members section. Concerning images, I have added more than 100 images to Wikipedia/Commons, so I think I am in a good position to assist in that regard. There are also many experienced editors that monitor the WikiProject Nigeria talkpage, and they will be quick to respond to any of your query. We are always glad to help because we were once assisted too. I am very sure you will be assisting others on the talkpage in the nearest future.HandsomeBoy (talk) 16:31, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@HandsomeBoy: Thank you, I have joined WikiProject Nigeria, I will like you to add me to the mailing list. Josedimaria237 (talk) 21:14, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Josedimaria237,

Please review WP:DRAFTIFY for policy on when it is proper for editors to move articles from main space to Draft space, especially the "Reasons not to move an article to draftspace" section. Unless an article is moved to Draft space as a result of an AFD closure, articles that have been created more than 90 days ago should not be draftified. This article was 14 years old so it was not eligible to be moved to Draft space. Again, please review the guidelines so you are better informed about draftification. Thank you. Liz Read! He received his B.Sc degree in Zoology from the University of London in 1961 and his M.Sc degree in 1965, he also received a Ph.D degree in Zoology from the University of Stockholm in 1965.
Nwagwu went to the University of Connecticut in 1966, where he completed spectacular researches on myosinmessenger RNA and muscle-protein synthesis on his post-doctoral fellowship. Non-attributed translations

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you translated text from zh:胡介国 to Hu Jieguo. While you are welcome to translate Wikipedia content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Wikipedia article, this is supplied at a minimum in an edit summary on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and linking it to the source page. Sample wording for this is given here. If you forgot, or were not aware of this requirement, attribution must be given retroactively, for example:

NOTE: Content in the edit of 01:25, January 25, 2023 was translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at [[:fr:Exact name of French article]]; see its history for attribution.

Retroactive attribution may be added using a dummy edit; see Repairing insufficient attribution. It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{translated page}} template on the talk page of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, you must add attribution retrospectively, even if it was a long time ago. You can read more about author attribution and the reasons for it at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 22:01, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rejection of Assassination of Muhammed of Ghor draft

[edit]

Hello, you recently rejected my draft for the assassination of muhammed of ghor and would like it be re-considered for approval.

The topic not being considered notable doesnt make sense in my opinion. Mohammed Ghori was the founder and the first emperor of the Ghorid Empire of central asia. Based off of the wiki notability guidelines a topic is considered notable if the topic receives coverage in reliable sources, which it has been. The topic has been notably discussed in many reliable medieval historical texts by independant third party historical authors such as by Minhaj-i-Siraj Juzjani, Firishta, Ibn al-athir, the Tarikh-i-alfi which was commissioned by the Mughal emperor Akbar and the Jami al-Tawarikh produced in the Mongol Ilkhanate with signiifcant mention, which leads me to believe it was wrongly rejected twice. Modern day authors such as VD Mahajan, sir henry Miers Elliot among many others refer to his death also, so this rejection should kindly be reconsidered.

Kind regards Zenithxxx (talk) 19:48, 19 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Zenithxxx: The assassination is not notable on its own, should be merged into the main topic of discussion. Even the sources used on the draft do not speak exclusively on the assassination alone. Jõséhola 08:03, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please expand more on why it is not notable because so far you haven't been clear as to what makes it not notable. I have provided you with the reasons why it is including providing the wiki GNG which as per the guidelines on there it is notable to desire its own stand alone article. Even further as per the GNG, 'Signficant coverage is more than a trivial mention, but does not need to be the main topic of the source material' hence your last point of it not speaking exclusively on the assassination is not acceptabe according to the guidelines (which the sources do anyway and state the background, details of the assassination and the aftermath). Draft:Essex Coroner Kidnapping Plot

[edit]

Hi, Josedimaria. I was hoping you might expand on your reasons for rejecting Draft:Essex Coroner Kidnapping Plot. The draft includes a number of sources from reliable publications. This would normally indicate some degree of notability. Is there any other aspect that I have missed or misunderstood. Thanks for taking the time to review this draft. I saw your comment at User:Ayyoobsharifi/sandbox. Users are free to submit their articles initially as a sandbox, and it is up to the reviewer to either move to draftspace or review it as it is. You should have also noticed a box that allows you to move the submission to the draftspace. Nevertheless, I've declined the submission since the subject is non notable, but in the future, it is best to refrain from making comments like Submit as a draft not sandbox. Thanks! Comment on my draft

The comment you left on my draft is kind of pointless, key words being kind of, as two MCR songs that weren’t singles and didn’t chart or get a certification by the RIAA or other music recording industry associations have articles, Skylines and Turnstiles and Demolition Lovers, both of which are classified as good articles on their talk page. [edit]

Thanks @Josedimaria for reviewing the draft I submitted. Any chance you can provide more detail on what needs to improve?

The template message on LLM generation isn't pointing to any specific direction or issue, so it doesn't give much guidance on why. Hence the question. If notability is the issue, please check the talk page and respond there.

This is for: Draft:Legal_Impact_for_Chickens

FYI, I wrote most of the page myself, I hope the edits reflect that.

That's a lot of potential angles to rewrite on in general. Any specific feedback on the specific draft would be great, so I can fix it and get the page ready for approval. Sklabb (talk) 09:41, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

@Josedimaria: Hello, and thank you for the previous review of my draft. I wanted to let you know that I have thoroughly revised and rewritten the article, addressing all the concerns you raised. Draft:Alexander Arkadyevich Kaufman (geophysicist) - Wikipedia GITSK (talk) 06:26, 19 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Josedimaria: Thank you for your helpful comments on my draft.
1. Regarding your first point about non-trivial secondary coverage beyond tributes:
the draft already cites several independent sources that provide in-depth coverage of Kaufman’s career and scientific work. For convenience, here are direct links:
  • **Colorado School of Mines “Geophysics Newsletter” – SEG Honorary Membership (Spring 2005)** – independent coverage of his contributions and career.
https://www.mines.edu/geophysics/wp-content/uploads/sites/30/2017/08/geophysics-newsletter-spring-2005.pdf
  • **Colorado School of Mines “Professor Kaufman: A Perfect 10” (Spring 2002)** –independent coverage of his teaching, reputation among students, publications.
https://www.mines.edu/geophysics/wp-content/uploads/sites/30/2017/08/geophysics-newsletter-spring-2002.pdf
  • **Geophysical Journal International (1996 review by M. N. Berdichevsky)** – a peer-reviewed academic review discussing the theoretical contributions of Kaufman’s monograph (read the first paragraph of the review).
https://academic.oup.com/gji/article/127/2/559/592834?login=false
2. Regarding the title: there is another notable historical figure with the same full name, Alexander Arkadyevich Kaufman (1864–1919), who was a Russian economist. To avoid confusion between the two, I kept the “(geophysicist)” disambiguator. If you prefer a different disambiguation format, I am happy to adjust it. Кауфман, Александр Аркадьевич — Википедия

Articles for creation backlog drive

[edit]

Hello Josedimaria:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in December!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than half a month of outstanding reviews from the current 2+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 December 2025 through 31 December 2025.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 3000 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help!
