Current requests for reduction in protection level

[edit]
Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Before posting a request for unprotection, please discuss it with the protecting administrator first. You can create a request below only if you receive no response from them.

To find out which administrator protected the page, go to the page's edit history and click on the "View logs for this page" link (located underneath the page's title). The protecting administrator is listed in the protection log entry, next to the words "protected", "changed protection level", or "configured pending changes". If there are a large number of log entries on the page, use the drop-down menu near the top of the page and select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" to filter the logs accordingly.

DO NOT request a reduction in protection if...

  • ...you are being prevented from editing the page. A desire to change content is not a valid reason for unprotection. Instead:
    • If you can edit the article's talk page, use the WP:Edit Request Wizard to propose a change on the article's talk page. Include an explanation of the exact content that you want to change, and what the content will be afterward.
    • If the article's talk page is protected, you may propose a change at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Edit.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is that the article has not been vandalized. That simply means the protection is working as intended.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is basically "a long time has passed" without supporting details.
  • ...you haven't contacted the protecting administrator.

You may request a protection reduction below if...

  • ...you want to change the protection level of a template or module from full protection to template protection. You may add the request to this page without having to discuss it with the protecting administrator first.
  • ...you need to remove creation protection from a location where no page exists (redlinked pages) after a draft version of the intended article is prepared beforehand and ready to be published.
  • ...you are proposing a trial reduction in protection for a page that has been protected for several years, provided the proposal is supported by evidence such as talk page activity, page views, page traffic, number of watchers, frequency of edit requests, and prior history of vandalism.
  • ...the protecting administrator is inactive or has not responded to you in several days.

If you cannot locate your request, make sure to check the request archives to see if it's been moved there. Only requests that have been recently answered will still be listed here.

Requesting a reduction to semi-protection. The article for the 2016 election itself is semi-protected, and the Trump–Ukraine scandal article was recently brought down to semi too. I believe the same should be done with this page, seeing as it needs work and is about events somewhat of the past. Newbzy (talk) 12:58, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

[edit]
Request a specific edit be made to a protected page
Please add an edit request to the talk page of the protected page before adding an edit request here

Requests for specific edits should be made on the talk page of the protected article. You can create an edit request below only if the talk page is also protected, preventing you from adding a request there.

Otherwise, this is the correct place to use in order to add an edit request if you are unable to add one to the article's talk page. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to properly add a request.

Requests for autopatrolled

Autopatrolled

[edit]

Hello, I'd like to request autopatrolled rights, seeing as I've made 32 mainspace articles, none of which are stubs (I do not rate my own created pages). Thus far, I've focused on creating pages related to music, most of which pertain to WP:Albums. Thanks, Fundgy (talk) 06:10, 9 December 2025 (UTC)

Quick note about Rough Trade Records soundtracks. That was meant to be a category but I forgot to add "Category:" in front, so I requested its deletion myself. Fundgy (talk) 06:17, 9 December 2025 (UTC)

Hello! I was recently recommended by Aszx5000 on my talk page to apply for Autopatrolled permission. I have made about 6,700 edits and authored 88 articles and counting, which I always aim to publish at C or B class quality. I believe I have a strong understanding of relevant policy which I'm always striving to improve, and am always open to feedback and correction. Cheers! Johnson524 07:19, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) Can't believe I missed this! @Johnson524 has 18 GAs to date and 86 total mainspace creations, of which none have been deleted. Their articles, such as Dobropillia offensive, are extremely well-written and are researched to a high standard with verifiable sources. My previous interactions with them have been positive. Their draft Draft:Durrr Burger was criticised for not meeting WP:GNG and having MOS:IN-U problems, but they took the feedback very well. I hope @Johnson524 doesn't mind me saying that I think they deserve AP! 11WB (talk) 23:21, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

My name is The Knowledge Pirate. I was previously known as Scorpions13256, and Scorpions1325. Since I created my first account in 2010, I have created 77 active articles. None have been deleted, and I have not had any issues brought to my attention about my articles since I started editing with this account. I have 7 DYK's, but no GA or FA's. Other articles include Mamie Colvin, Turner County High School, and Nettie Johnson. I understand WP:GNG and WP:BLP better than I did when I became more prolific in 2020, and I think getting this right will save reviewers a lot of work. Once I am done with a long-term project, I intend to create a lot more articles. The Knowledge Pirate (talk) 20:32, 15 December 2025 (UTC)

Hello! I would like to request autopatrolled rights. I have authored 29 articles thus far and have enjoyed being part of the Wikipedia community for the last few years. I have a particular interest in creating and editing articles on the music, literature, and history of Scandinavia and Iceland (being multilingual, I am able to make use of sources in all the relevant languages). I have a solid understanding of WP:GNG and WP:BLP and strive to create high-quality articles that meet content and sourcing standards. I hope my work demonstrates that I am able to work independently and produce good articles according to the guidelines. I am always open to feedback and instructions, and do my best to interact with others here in a friendly and civil manner. Thanks! Cosimoprimo (talk) 12:01, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

I have created 49 mainspace pages as of this; and I have more on my to-create list as well. I am also a Page mover and an AfC reviewer; both of which involve moving pages which mostly always leaves behind redirects needing to reviewed as well. I am also a NPP reviewer and I know that the unreviewed redirects backlog is pretty much always bigger than the articles backlog. So, I want to help reduce them by having my page creations auto-patrolled. Thanks! Vestrian24Bio 12:56, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
Requests for AutoWikiBrowser access

AutoWikiBrowser

[edit]

I am requesting AutoWikiBrowser access to assist with high-volume, non-controversial maintenance and cleanup work that is inefficient to do manually, including routine formatting and copyediting fixes consistent with the MOS, straightforward citation-template and reference formatting corrections that do not change meaning, clear link and disambiguation fixes where the correct target is obvious from context, and basic template or category housekeeping when the changes are purely mechanical; I will review edits before saving, use clear edit summaries, avoid contentious areas and biographies of living persons except for unquestionably safe mechanical changes, and pause to seek talk page consensus if any edit pattern is questioned or could reasonably be disputed. Extended confirmed

[edit]

Reason for requesting extended confirmed rights: I have created a few articles, which are currently only available in English, and none have been translated into other languages, such as Chinese. Most of the content was written by me, and I don't believe the articles will be translated into Chinese anytime soon, especially the Quanzhou–Xiamen–Zhangzhou Intercity Railway Line, which is a project from China. Thanks! WxProHaha (talk) 07:22, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

Not done You don't need any special permissions on the English Wikipedia to translate English articles to another language. You can use the Content Translation tool on the Chinese Wikipedia to translate into Chinese. stwalkerster (talk) 14:39, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

I have ~250 edits on Wikipedia, but I have uploaded over 1,000 photos from globally significant events on Wikimedia Commons already: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Randy_(Wikiportraits) Xuthoria (talk) 09:23, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

(The above note was worded poorly), I find the review/accepts at Dean Roy, Aarron Deliu and Succes Nic Com to be low effort and "easy" reviews that were only done after the AFDs were initiated by other folks. I think there is a general lack of depth in the AFD participation and NPP work shown here which makes me trend towards a decline. Sohom (talk) 10:28, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
I reviewed all of them after checking for copyvio, per copyvio material don't belong in any namespace, also I sorted them in User:Destinyokhiria/Reports, also in Succes Nic Com which i participated in the AFD Discussion, please ping me when replying as i don't always get the notification. Hi, I am an active editor familiar with New Pages Patrolling and the relevant policies, including WP:NPP, WP:GNG, WP:BLP, and WP:RS. I regularly assess drafts and new pages for notability, sourcing, and promotional or problematic content.

With the current backlog of unreviewed new pages, I believe I can help reduce the load by carrying out careful, policy based reviews. Thank you for your consideration. Pizza on Pineapple (Let's eat🍕) 11:02, 16 December 2025 (UTC)

I have a large amount of experience with vandalism reversion and speedy deletions, and although I received several warnings as a new user, I am now much better at understanding the deletion criteria. I have also been given AfC, rollback, and pending changes rights. Hi there, I’d like to request New Page reviewer permissions.

I’ve been doing regular maintenance work, including adding and fixing reliable sources, addressing broken citations, and tagging drafts and articles for notability, sourcing, and BLP issues. I've spend time reading through and becoming familiar with the relevant policies (WP:V WP:RS WP:N WP:BLP) and apply them carefully when reviewing content.

I’d like to assist with reviewing new pages and drafts to help manage the backlog. Happy to receive any feedback. Much appreciated. Regards, AtlasReviewer (talk) 07:46, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

I'm active as a recent changes patroller, as well as in WP:GOCE. i've written a few articles myself and would love the opportunity to help bring others up to par for inclusion on WP! i'm pretty well acquainted with the MOS and wikipedia's policies more generally at this stage, and think i could do a good job at communicating them to those creating new pages where relevant. i've participated in deleting articles once or twice and am familiar with the policies around that, as well as article merges and the like. i've made 1 previous request which was declined for having too few mainspace edits - i believe i should meet that criteria now. I would like to request an extension of my temporary new page reviewer rights, which are set to expire at the end of the month. I'm requesting this a bit early because I've seen these requests get backed up before and I would like to be able to participate in the upcoming NPP backlog drive in January. I was given a generous two-month trial; I reviewed a few dozen redirects and a few geology articles back in November, while this month I've done just over 50 reviews (so far) for the AfC backlog drive in addition to a few more geology articles (and a random one I nominated for deletion). I realize this might not be a tremendous amount of activity for two months, but my primary interest on Wikipedia remains writing and improving (mostly mineral) articles. Page mover

[edit]

Hi, I'm a trial NPP and AFC reviewer and doing new page patrol requires moving some articles to draft for better improvements as they're not suitable in the main space, it will be more better if I can move articles without leaving redirects. This right would also be helpful for when I close RMs so that I don't need to request the move be performed at WP:RM/TR afterwards, as well as potentially helping out with moves there myself. I appreciate that you are relative new to participation in RMs, so wanted to ask a couple of questions here. I noticed this multi-page RM had the main navbox cleaned up by another editor 3 days later rather than shortly after the move, so do you have experience with post move cleanup and can you point to diffs where you have implemented this when closing RMs? Can you also describe me to the sort of cleanup that is needed when disambiguating a primary topic? Regards, CNC (talk) 13:15, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
Courtesy ping: Destinyokhiria HurricaneZetaC 19:45, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
Thanks @HurricaneZeta for the Ping, @CNC Per you Question I did a couple of Post move Cleanup, the ones you listed above was something I forgot to do, these are some post move cleanup I did (1, 2,
3), your other question, which you asked when disambiguating a primary topic, what sort of cleanup is needed, the answer to that would be, (1) Fix mistargeted wikilinks (2) Update disambiguation pages (3) Updating hatnotes such as the use of the template {{Other uses}}. I hope these answer the questions.

Please ping me when replying Destinyokhiria 💬 22:43, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

@Destinyokhiria Thanks for your response. Your answer to disambiguating ptopic question is good, it demonstrates the necessary understanding to perform such round robin moves. But I'll be frank, those diffs are not post move cleanup as they are part of automatic removals instead, so do you have any other examples? Regards, CNC (talk) 12:00, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

Hiya, I'm a frequent at WP:AFC so I think this might be helpful for moving pages over redirects with history and suppressing redirects to help reduce the admin workload with R2 and G6 deletions. I'd also like to help out a bit at RM/TR since it can have a big backlog at times, and to be able to create editnotices as well. yeah i guess that works lol. thanks consarn (talck) (contirbuton s) 01:51, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
hey, wait, why to draftspace? instead of just preserving the history, that might actually make the mess worse, as they never were drafts, meaning rdraft doesn't apply. would there have even been issues with histmerges if they were being histmerged back?
also, shouldn't this be taken elsewhere? consarn (talck) (contirbuton s) 12:22, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
@Consarn: The consensus to retain redirects in draftspace is broader than just the move redirects referred to in RDRAFT, see the discussion linked in the footnote there and in WP:G13. Often if there is a draft and a live article on the same subject, the draft will just be redirected to the live article if it's not being worked on and they don't need to be history merged. I would leave them in the original location if it hadn't been evacuated to make way for a move. Before draftspace existed alternative versions were sometimes left instead in talkspace, but draftspace is a more normal place to expect to find alternative versions of an article. If you believe there is need for a histmerge for any of them, you can request that. ~ Jenson (SilverLocust 💬) 17:18, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
They shouldn't have been put in the "Draft:" namespace, but whatever... Steel1943 (talk) 03:54, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer

I would like to request the Pending Changes Reviewer permission. I am an extended confirmed user with over 550 edits, mainly focused on biographies, Indian politics, legislation, and sourcing from reliable secondary sources.

I regularly work on semi-protected and sensitive articles and would like to help review pending edits to reduce backlog and ensure compliance with Wikipedia’s policies on neutrality, verifiability, and biographies of living persons.

I am familiar with core content policies such as WP:NPOV, WP:V, WP:BLP, and WP:RS, and I will use this permission carefully and only for clearly constructive edits. دثلميح (talk) 04:06, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

I would like this right because it is required for many anti-vandalism scripts/programs, such as WikiShield and Huggle. This will allow me to be more efficient when reverting. Speedrunz (talk) 01:35, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

I would like rollback permissions to help quickly revert vandalism and undo unproductive edits. As a pending changes reviewer, I have done this on the proactive side and am simply looking to do it on the reactive side. I have been patrolling recent changes, new articles, various wikiproject tagged pages, and more. This will simply allow me better access to do so. Also -- I have rollback permissions on Wikidata. Reason for requesting rollback rights: I have experience in anti-vandalism via Twinkle and understand how to use rollback. I hope to make a difference in the vandalism area. r f q i i talk! 08:23, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

I would like to become a rollbacker for a few reasons.

  1. I already fight vandalism and have been patrolling RecentChanges for some time, and I would like to be able to fight vandalism at a more efficient rate
  2. I am relatively experienced with Wikipedia, having hundreds of mainspace edits and more than 1000 edits in total
  3. I have not been in an edit war for a long time, and remember to notify users whenever I am reverting their edits due to them not being constructive.
  4. I am already a pending changes reviewer, so I can spot and revert vandalism before it is seen by too many people, and being able to use tools like AntiVandal will make it even easier for me to spot and remove vandalism, as I can also easily filter it out.

That is why I would like to be a rollbacker. Theeverywhereperson (talk here) 13:01, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

Not done Given User_talk:Theeverywhereperson#Mass reversions challenging your existing revert decisions I don't think it's appropriate to grant you tools to revert stuff even faster at this time. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:59, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
@Pppery That was an accident. I noticed a TA randomly reverting stuff at speed. This meant that I made a boatload of mistakes. I know it might not be appropriate, but I was not able to get any clues, so really, this was partly my fault, partly the TAs for not saying a thing. They just did stuff. I'm not trying to do anything bad, it was really just a lapse in judgement. I was going to review some of my edits before reverting. Theeverywhereperson (talk here) 07:07, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
I meant any edits that I thought needed reverting next time. I knew I mass reverted indiscriminately and did that, but that's the past now. I didn't realise that, but those decisions were made on an assumption which was based off the fact that they were removing info at such a speed that I didn't have time to review all of them, meaning that they may have made some more unexplained content removals. (Put in short, They were removing info very quickly, so I could not review them so fast. Please forgive me.) Theeverywhereperson (talk here) 07:11, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
I am requesting rollback rights to more efficiently combat vandalism on English Wikipedia. I am an experienced editor and currently hold Rollbacker, Autopatroller, and Pending Changes Reviewer rights on the Bengali Wikipedia, where I have a proven track record of using advanced tools responsibly. On ENWP, I am frequently involved in reverting disruptive edits using RedWarn; however, several high-traffic pages I have created are currently experiencing a high volume of blatant vandalism and "bot-like" disruptive edits. Having the native rollback tool would allow me to clear these malicious edits from page histories much faster than manual reversion. I fully understand that rollback is strictly reserved for obvious vandalism and is not to be used in content disputes, and I am committed to upholding the WP:ROLLBACK and WP:3RR policies. Requests for template editor

Template editor

[edit]

I'm requesting template editor rights so that I can make changes to certain templates such as {{Symbol}} without requesting assistance. I built the fairly popular templates of {{Tweet}} and {{Pin section}} and made improvements to others. I have over 300 edits in the Template namespace, and my creation of various Wikipedia user scripts help demonstrate my technical competence. Thank you for your consideration!  Not done per Primefac; especially in times like now when the TPER queue is under control I'm not seeing case for an exception from the standard rules. * Pppery * it has begun... 05:01, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
Requests for temporary account IP viewer

Temporary account IP viewer

[edit]

Hello team, I have been actively editing, reviewing AfCand act against vandalism through recent changes patrolling. I struggle with IP edits to find out its details. I hope this IP reviewer access could be more helpful to find the pattern and act accordingly. Will be used only for this purpose, if granted. Thank you AlphaCore talk 00:50, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

You've only been back one month from a three-year sockpuppetry block with a question of spamming as well. I'd like to see a longer track record of good behavior prior to granting this right. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 04:51, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

Hello all. I've been editing since 2006 and created my current and only account in 2010. At times I've been very active on the project, but in a bit of a lull right now, being busy IRL. I am however still actively editing from time to time. Regardless of my level of activity, I do fight vandalism when I find it and would like to continue to do so. I have read, understood, and will abide by, the pre-requisite TAIV policy/Foundation guideline. Thank you for your time and Happy Holidays to you and yours... - \\'cԼF 07:52, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

As I often run into socks, it would be helpful to have TAIV in pre-SPI reporting. asilvering suggested I apply. UtherSRG (talk) 17:37, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
