Wikipedia:Requests for page protection
![]() | This page has an administrative backlog that requires the attention of willing administrators. Please replace this notice with {{no admin backlog}} when the backlog is cleared. |
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level
Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level
Request a specific edit be made to a protected page

Current requests for increase in protection level
[edit]Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. The Grand Delusion(Send a message) 20:53, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 18:08, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Repeated IP vandalism. Red Phoenician (talk) 21:03, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Warn the user appropriately then report them to AIV or ANI if they continue. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 18:09, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. Untamed1910 (talk) 02:28, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 18:28, 17 September 2025 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. Untamed1910 (talk) 02:31, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 18:29, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
- Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Muse Bihi Abdi (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- President of Somaliland (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: I've noticed a problem of unregistered users changing the date of President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi of Somalilands inauguration date from the accurate Dec 12, 2024 to the inaccurate Dec 13,2024. This change is being made to the presidents Wikipedia page as well as that of former President Muse Bihi Abdi and the President of Somaliland Wikipedia page. I assume people are making this change because they would have liked the former Presidents term to have ended at exactly 7 years instead of 6 years 365 days but unfortunately that is not what happened and none of these wikipedia pages should be edited with false information. I foresee this problem persisting unless these pages are granted semi-protection. Subayerboombastic (talk) 02:39, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 18:32, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
- Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – LTA vandalism. ConnerTT (talk) 05:09, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 18:43, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent addition of bogus content from IP. Contributor19 (talk) 05:23, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Warn the user appropriately then report them to AIV or ANI if they continue. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 18:44, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
- Flood control projects controversy in the Philippines (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. As unnecessary as it is, I would like to request that this page be protected from any IP addresses that try to ruin revisions that were not heavily focused on the controversial article that are currently happening. ArinAstrid (talk) 11:41, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Pages are not protected preemptively. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 18:53, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Page-move vandalism. F13 enwikis (talk) 15:05, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
User(s) blocked. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 19:06, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Lock to Indefinite Extended Confirmed, the last attempt for a temporary user-only lock hasn't worked and the page is still a mess of contradictory information due to constant edits by users and general POV pushing. ⛿ WeaponizingArchitecture | yell at me 18:52, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Question: @WeaponizingArchitecture: Did the disruption continue during the previous semi-protection? It looks to me like there wasn't much issue during that period, but I am not terribly familiar with the topic area. If so, it seems the semiprotection could just be extended. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 19:36, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Along with Dalal (clan) also previously created though it has been a while (2021...G5 deleted). S0091 (talk) 19:14, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Not done I've G5 deleted the page. Given the lack of recent activity, I'm abstaining from protection at this point. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 19:46, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Reason: According to the restrictions set in place by WP:ARBIPA (as per WP:ECRCASTE), the given page, alongside all of its entries (around 160 separate articles) all have to be indef extended confirmed protected. According to WP:ECRCASTE, all "social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal" need to be indef extended confirmed page protected. EarthDude (wanna talk?) 20:20, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Nationality vandalism. The phrasing "Ukrainian-born Russian" was long-agreed at FA and other discussions. Random IPs have continously changed it without discussion. Taking way too much editor time to continuously revert. Aza24 (talk) 20:36, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Warn the user appropriately then report them to AIV or ANI if they continue. I'm only seeing one editor engaging in this behavior in 2025; the previous incident was nearly a full year ago, and involved an editor who would not be prohibited by semi- or EC-protection. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 20:41, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Reason: High level of vandalism, had just come of last protection which lasted 2 days, I just got a new message last change, and I found more vandalism happening, so because of this I request a longer ECP maybe a month, or a year. 98.235.155.81 (talk) 20:39, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of 4 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Isabelle Belato 🏳🌈 22:03, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Current requests for reduction in protection level
[edit]Before posting a request to this page, please discuss it with the protecting administrator first. You can create a request below only if you receive no response from them.
- To find out which administrator protected the page, go to the page's edit history and click on the "View logs for this page" link (located underneath the page's title). The protecting administrator will be listed in the protection log entry and next to the words
"protected"
,"changed protection level"
or"configured pending changes"
. If there are a large number of log entries on the page, use the drop-down menu near the top of the page and select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" to filter the logs accordingly. - Requests to change the protection level of a template or module from full protection to template protection and be added to this page and without having to discuss it with the protecting administrator first.
- Requests for removing creation protection from a location where no page exists (redlinked pages) are generally handled after a draft version of the intended article is prepared beforehand and ready to be published.
- If you want to request uncontroversial changes to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page and include an explanation of the exact content that you want to change, and what the content will be afterwards. If the talk page is protected, preventing you from adding the request to that location, please use the section below to add an edit request.
If you cannot locate your request, make sure to check the request archives to see if it's been moved there. Only requests that have been recently answered will still be listed here.
Reason: The protection was put in place because too many people were referring to the suspect by name on the talk page while an rfc was ongoing to decide if the name should be included, said rfc finished and concluded it will be listed in the article. There is no need to worry about people putting his name on the talk page now. LachlanTheUmUlGiTurtle (talk) 15:21, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- Pinging protecting admin Fuzheado. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:32, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- See the instructions at the top of this page. You are supposed to discuss this with the protecting administrator first, before making a request here. Did you do that? ~Anachronist (talk) 18:45, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- Ah sorry, I tried to reply to the talk page and it told me I can't and it's first suggestion is to come here without saying anything about doing that first. I should have read this article fully as well. Perhaps the message I was shown should be updated.
- "You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason:
- This page is currently protected so that only extended confirmed users and administrators can edit it.
- Why is the page protected?
- While most articles can be edited by anyone, extended confirmed protection is sometimes necessary to prevent disruptive editing on controversial pages.
- The reason for protection can be found in the protection log. If there are no relevant entries in the protection log, the page may have been moved after being protected.
- What can I do?
- Request that the page's protection level be reduced.
- Find out more about how to get started editing Wikipedia.
- If you have noticed an error or have a suggestion for a simple, non-controversial change, please check the talk page first in case the issue is already being discussed. If the issue has not been discussed yet, you can submit an edit request at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Edit. Make sure to clearly describe which page your request is about, and which change exactly you are requesting.
- If you wrote any text, please save it temporarily to your device until you can edit this page."

- (Non-administrator comment) I'll note that this article has been asked about and declined here a few times in the past two weeks. But also Fuzheado replied to another editor who asked them about lowering this talk page yesterday and declined any lowering at this time. Zinnober9 (talk) 19:37, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- I've looked over the linked reply, Fuzheado addresses whether his initial change to ECP was warranted which I've just attempted to reply with "I agree it was warranted at the time due to issues with the name of the suspect being put up many times. But now that's no longer an issue with the RFC concluded I think ECP is excessive."
- But for some reason the "reply" button is greyed out, I don't understand why LachlanTheUmUlGiTurtle (talk) 19:59, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- Agreed, the talk page no longer needs to be locked, the page has elements worthy of discussion at the moment. LeoWal1 (talk) 09:54, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Unprotection: the template has less than 30 transclusions now. - OpalYosutebito 『talk』 『articles I want to eat』 00:39, 15 September 2025 (UTC)

- I don't think we should unprotect templates that were semi-protected because of vandalism. Pending changes are not an option for them either.
Not done ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:51, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
Unprotection: WP:TRYUNPROT, was protected due to edit-warring 19 years ago. Protecting admin is no longer an admin and hasn't been active in years. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 23:22, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
Unprotection: WP:TRYUNPROT - Indefinite semi-protection was imposed on this page in 2011. Because Turner himself hasn't been in the news since 2012, when he was released from federal prison, protection might no longer be necessary. Furthermore, this page does not have much traffic, which makes the risk of future vandalism rather low. Giovanni Potage (talk) 01:42, 17 September 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page
[edit]Please add an edit request to the talk page of the protected page before adding an edit request here
Edit requests should be made on the talk page of the protected article. You can create an edit request below only if the talk page is also protected, preventing you from adding a request there.
- You may add the appropriate template (
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
) to the article's talk page if you would like to request an edit be made. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - For edit requests being made due to the editor having a conflict of interest with the article subject (see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used instead of the others listed above. - Requests to move pages that are currently move-protected should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not on this page.
- This page is not for holding discussions regarding content. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit that you wish to be performed.
Otherwise, this is the correct place to use in order to add an edit request if you are unable to add one to the article's talk page. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to properly add a request.
