Articles for Creation backlog drive
[edit]
Hello SecretName101:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in June!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 1 month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 June 2025 through 30 June 2025.
You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 3200 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:25, 20 May 2025 (UTC)

Autopatrolled
[edit]I came across Mayoralty of Joe Kernan while doing NPP, and was surprised that you didn't have autopatrolled. I see that it got removed for cause a few years ago, but that the sanction was subsequently lifted. I don't know that I can unilaterally return the right to you after it got taken as a result of a community discussion, but if you want it back, it might not hurt to ask at WP:AN. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 06:42, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- @CaptainEek should I request? On my end, the absence of the permission does not create any significant inconvenience. But for patrollers, is there a substantial addition un-needed workload being created?
- I know I create a good number of redirects (even more frequent creations than new articles or templates), but those are usually patrolled by DannyS712 bot III.
- If it makes sense to do it for the sake of patrollers, I am game to request. SecretName101 (talk) 06:49, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- Well if you don't mind, then it might be better to build up another year or two of clean patrolled articles, but yes you seem to be fairly prolific and eventually you should try for it back if you aren't having issues creating articles. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 07:02, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, Pretty okay articles trying building your trust like this and you should be a good candidate. Cactus🌵 spiky ouch 10:41, 9 July 2025 (UTC)

Detroit mayoral elections
[edit]My apologies for using the word "runoff election" instead of "general election" on the 2005, 2009 special, and 2013 Detroit mayoral elections. Could you help me understand why you completely undid my revisions rather than simply substitute those words out? Thanks. PA Uploader (talk) 00:42, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
- PA Uploader, Because your infobox overhauls treated Detroit mayoral elections as having a two-round runoff system, rather than having a single general election in November preceded by a nonpartisan primary to select the two candidates to be on the ballot. The primaries in Detroit to narrow the field are primaries, not general elections. They determine the candidates for the general election if more than two decide to run. A new mayor cannot be chosen by the result of the primary itself.
- in runoffs, both rounds are general elections because an election winner could be determined outright by the result of either the first or second round. With runoffs, a second round only occurs when the first fails to produce a winner.
- we do not include the results of primaries in infoboxes for elections; only general elections.
- For example:
- for state and senate elections in California under its current primary system (all candidates run in the same primary, which winnows the field down to two) do not include the primary results in the infobox
- nonpartisan elections for mayoralties with similar nonpartisan primaries to narrow the ballot to two for general elections (Detroit, Boston, Milwaukee, Madison WI, etc.) only include the general election in the infobox. As do statewide nonpartisan offices with the same sort of primary (such as Wisconsin Supreme Court and Wisc. Supt. Of Public Instruction)
- with Alaska's current statewide election format where a winner-takes all primary narrows the field to four candidates ahead of an IRV general election: only the results of the IRV general election are listed in infoboxes
- SecretName101 (talk) 00:57, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the clarification. I will modify my edits to the page with that in mind. PA Uploader (talk) 01:00, 17 July 2025 (UTC)

Howard Caldwell (United States Navy) moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Howard Caldwell (United States Navy). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and it has no text. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:21, 31 July 2025 (UTC)

Date formats
[edit]"should be using MDY, this is an American subject" [2] This is incorrect. WP:MILFORMAT: articles (including biographical articles) on the modern US military should use DMY dates, in accordance with US military usage.

- @Hawkeye7 Interesting. My first bio on a person whose military career was their main claim to fame (rather than parlayed into a subsequent more-notable political career), so did not know we treated that differently SecretName101 (talk) 14:31, 31 July 2025 (UTC)

Biden Vice Presidency
[edit]I want to tell you are doing a great job creating articles about vice presidencies of U.S. vice presidents. However, I do not believe that the category of Category:Vice presidency of Joe Biden is appropriate as it comes off as if Biden's tenure was not part of the Obama administration. And frankly, controversies or articles of significance related to Biden's tenure as Vice President should be in his own controversy and/or Obama administration controversy category or simply Biden's main category. WikiCleanerMan (talk) 21:16, 23 August 2025 (UTC)
- @WikiCleanerMan all aspects of Biden's vice presidency were part of the Obama admin, but not all aspects of the Obama admin were related to Biden and his vice presidency. This cat sorts the articles that are related to Biden and his vice presidency in specific. And it makes it so these categories are sub-categorized within Category:Joe Biden SecretName101 (talk) 01:26, 24 August 2025 (UTC)
- I do see your point. But some articles in there are not really related at all to Biden's vice presidency. WikiCleanerMan (talk) 20:33, 1 September 2025 (UTC)

Edits to Bruce Harrell
[edit]Hello,
Thank you for some of the edits to Bruce Harrell. I do appreciate adding neutrality to the page, especially during an election year when I have been dealing with that problem in other current elections here.
I did revert your change to the layout of the page. I have worked for over a year in creating, updating and changing the past 51 Seattle City Council members. In that time, I have created a layout which does include having elections separate from tenure, and each of the elections in their own subheading. Most if not all of these councilmember's pages, including Bruce's, were hot messes, and these layout gives a lot of order to it.
I'm going to remove the warning from the page as well.
Thanks, Bpuddin (talk) 06:51, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
