Your submission at Articles for creation: Georg Kreis (August 28)

[edit]
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Notcharizard was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
The comment the reviewer left was:
Only two of the sources are actually about Kreis, and one of those was published by his employer.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Wickster12345. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:38, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is hilarious. You assume because I’ve written a detailed article about a company I must have a personal association. I have no personal or professional affiliation with Profusa. Wickster12345 (talk) 17:38, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing hilarious about it. I asked a question. It only requires an answer. (And BTW, I didn't ask a question about any specific company, eg. Profusa, you're the one who brought that up.) -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:01, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It was clear what you were referring to. But yes now I answered it. I still think it’s hilarious, but maybe that’a just a personal opinion. I guess I should refrain from expressing that something’s hilarious on Wikipedia, lots of neuroatypical people here, but I digress Wickster12345 (talk) 18:04, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Secularism

[edit]

When I said "Calm down", it just seemed to me that you were upset when you said "you’re basically insinuating Wikipedia should have a moralizing and officially secular role". I don't know what your personal beliefs are but it seemed to me that this was upsetting for you. It often helps discussions to focus on the content and not the editor. It's not a good idea to say editors are "insinuating" something because they don't have problems openly stating their positions. I was simply referring to the fact, that you are still disputing, that Hamas is widely considered a terrorist organization by academic sources. We have invented definitions of terrorism just to explain Hamas and fund our response to Hamas and Islamist terrorism. This is the view that prevails. The only significant opposition comes from religious countries with Islamist governments. If Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkey designated this organization a terrorist organization, I have little doubt that the UN, Norway and China would drop their opposition, as it is not a defensible or reasonable position after October 7 massacres and they are clawing at thin ice as it is. Ben Azura (talk) 19:23, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I never disputed Hamas is considered terrorist by most academics. I just think the academic view should be provided alongside the view of countries that have taken a position on Hamas. The reason I think why country positions should be included has nothing to do with whether I agree with the merit or value of specific governments’ views. It is simply for informational purposes. It doesn’t mean I agree with the Iranian government, I simply think together with academic views, the views of non-Islamic governments, it is ok to also provide cited explanations of the views of pro-Hamas governments. I personally value the reader’s right to receive all the information more than not mentioning views we think are harmful and Islamist, because this is an encyclopedia for everyone, not just people in the west or secular people. Hi @Wickster12345,

Thanks for submitting the draft to Wikipedia. I did a tiny bit of copyediting. Please note that the four sources in the article, "My Conversation with the excellent Jennifer Burns", Milton Friedman’s unexpected legacy, with Jennifer Burns, the OUPblog, and the Forbes article, are all WP:primary sources, which is not encouraged for a biography of a living person.

On a side note, how do you think Burns satisfies WP:Notability (academics)? Cheers, --The Lonely Pather (talk) 18:30, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

She satisifies GNG based on two independent secondary sources covering her in-depth: Two of the sources you mentioned are hybrid as they have both secondary coverage on the basis of the primary interview and a transcript of the interview itself. Clarification on Gaza genocide article

[edit]

I noticed your recent edit to first sentence of the Gaza genocide article. The first sentence of the lead which you edited (The Gaza genocide is the ongoing systematic destruction...) was placed there during a vandalism spree by User:SheikstarAT. Most of his vandalism was instantly reverted but that line stayed for a few hours. The Gaza genocide article used to start with:

Experts, governments, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organisations have accused Israel of carrying out a genocide against the Palestinian people during its invasion and bombing of the Gaza Strip in the ongoing Israel–Hamas war.

I am not ECP yet so I was hoping to make an edit request for the first sentence in Talk:Gaza genocide but even the talk page for Gaza genocide is ECP. Not sure if you want to revert back to the original first sentence or open up a discussion about that in the talk page. I thought the original first sentence was good but also think there's ground for more discussion there. Up to you. Bitspectator (talk) 21:53, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Penrhyn Castle

[edit]

Hi, and thanks for your additions to Penrhyn Castle. I think the exhibitions section is a very good addition. A few points:

  • I've done a bit of a copy edit, we don't need to italicise National Trust, for example;
  • I've standardised the referencing to match the pre-existing style;
  • I've added a couple of tags. The first is minor, it's good to have a cite at the end of the paragraph. Can the existing Oldfield and Wills just be moved to the end? The second is a bit more significant. I'm struggling with the final two sentences of the last para., particularly the last. "The aim was to foreground the crucial role of empathy and emotion in the audience’s engagement with this history and to present openly the subjectivity of individual responses" reads to me like marketing-speak, rather than English, and I'm not clear as to what it is trying to say. Does it come from the brochure that is Source 47? Droplet is a marketing/design agency, and I'm not able to find reference to that specific sentence in their brochure. Would it be possible to clarify/source it?

Many thanks again. KJP1 (talk) 06:51, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for your edits and helpful suggestions. The information in the last sentence comes from The Welsh History Review article cited. I can send it to you (the article), if you would like, and tell you the page number where this claim is specifically made. If you think the statement is not encyclopedic enough to begin with, or is otherwise not appropriate, it of course can/should be removed. Please let me know what the best course of action is Wickster12345 (talk) 08:36, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Silvia Berger Ziauddin (June 7)

[edit]
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Jamiebuba was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Pythoncoder was:
Your draft shows signs of having been generated by a large language model, such as ChatGPT. Their outputs usually have multiple issues that prevent them from meeting our guidelines on writing articles. These include:
Please address these issues. The best way is usually to read reliable sources and summarize them, instead of using a large language model. See our help page on large language models.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.
