Ivan the Terrible (polar bear)
[edit]Hey why did you remove c. 1949 from the Ivan the terrible page? It was sourced to one of the zoo's press releases. Is it because it is a primary and not secondary source?
I like your DYK btw, thanks for drafting it! Gb321 (talk) 04:27, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Gb321: I removed mostly because the press release was sourced through an ebay listing for the physical item, and I think that probably wouldn't be accepted at DYK. I'm glad you like the hook, the articles you've made recently are really interesting! BuySomeApples (talk) 05:30, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- thanks. I appreciate it. I understand the ebay ref removal (even if ebay isnt the reference, just the host of the reference), but I'm bummed because I work hard(ish) to find Ivan's birth year. I was never able to find his death year Gb321 (talk) 05:45, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- Maybe we can still include it @Gb321: technically physical (not online) sources can still be cited. Citing the document itself but not ebay could work. BuySomeApples (talk) 05:47, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- done! no reference to ebay or the document being posted online, only the physical document is mentioned in the reference Gb321 (talk) 06:10, 6 May 2025 (UTC)

Draft:Christopher Mellon updates.
[edit]Hello, at your convenience -- I've integrated a massive (mostly) completed re-write of Draft:Christopher Mellon just now here.
I included Draft_talk:Christopher Mellon#Draft integrated -- Notability and References_analysis with extensive scrutiny of all the most frequently used sourcing. -- Very Polite Person (talk) 17:46, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks @Very Polite Person: I'll take a look at the source assessment and draft. BuySomeApples (talk) 21:49, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
New sources added - Draft:Liberty_Dogs
[edit]Hello @BuySomeApples,

Hi. I believe David A. Pizzaro meets point 3 of the N:PROF: The person has been an elected member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association or a fellow of a major scholarly society which reserves fellow status as a highly selective honor. He is an elected fellow of Association for Psychological Science. HRShami (talk) HRShami (talk) 03:23, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- Just realized that the decline message said it lacked references to prove notability, not that the subject lacked notability, so I have added a reference for APS Fellowship. While the decline message indicated adding a third party reference for proving notability, the specific criteria notes on WP:NPROF said that "for documenting that a person has been elected member or fellow, publications of the electing institution are considered a reliable source." So I have added a link from APS Observer where his fellowship was announced.HRShami (talk) 03:34, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks @HRShami: I think that probably does meet the criteria! It makes sense to resubmit then. BuySomeApples (talk) 22:04, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you. I just resubmitted the draft. HRShami (talk) 03:48, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- I have also edited Draft:Claudia Strauss's tone, language and references. Can you please review it again when you have some time? HRShami (talk) 07:19, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you. I just resubmitted the draft. HRShami (talk) 03:48, 13 May 2025 (UTC)

A Certain Regard (2004)
[edit]Hi @BuySomeApples,
Thank you for taking the time to review the article on A Certain Regard (2004). I understand your concern regarding notability, and I’d like to respectfully offer some context that may be helpful in reconsidering the current tag.
While the film may not be widely known in commercial circuits, it holds cult status and maintains a consistent viewership through academic and digital platforms. The subject of the film, Juan José Sebreli, is a highly recognized intellectual with well-established entries in both the English and Spanish Wikipedia. His life and work have contributed significantly to Latin American social criticism, urban theory, and LGBTQ+ discourse.
A Certain Regard is available through Alexander Street Press, one of the leading academic streaming platforms globally, providing curated access to university libraries and research institutions. Its distribution there ensures continued relevance and discussion, particularly in the fields of social criticism, architecture, and gay life in Argentina—which the film addresses directly.
While I acknowledge the film is obscure by mainstream standards, its critical value and documented niche impact are clear. Furthermore, the Wikipedia entry provides production details and contextual framing that are not readily available elsewhere online or in print.
I hope this context helps illustrate the film’s place within a scholarly and cultural framework, and that you might consider removing the notability tag to allow this documentation to remain visible beyond the underground.
Warm regards, —[[@Wikimench100]] Wikimench100 (talk) 04:10, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
