Non-free use of File:FredFrith AlbumCover LiveJapanV1.jpg
[edit]
Thank you for uploading File:FredFrith AlbumCover LiveJapanV1.jpg. However, there is a concern that the use of the image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Details of this problem, and which specific criteria that the image may not meet, can be obtained by going to the image description page. If you feel that this image does meet those criteria, please place a note on the image description or talk page explaining why. Do not remove the {{di-fails NFCC}} tag itself.
An administrator will review this file within a few days, and having considered the opinions placed on the image page, may delete it in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion or remove the tag entirely. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 07:25, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
Disputed non-free use rationale for File:FredFrith AlbumCover LiveJapanV2.jpg
[edit]
Thank you for uploading File:FredFrith AlbumCover LiveJapanV2.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

- References are not generally formatted as you did in #27 here. Have a look at the reference layout here for example. —Bruce1ee 18:07, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
- but shouldn't the overriding priority be that they are easy to process.
- Line breaks for example are explicitly used in this style recommendation: Help:Citation merging
- Centering is not addressed anywhere i know of, and i don't want to stand out in terms of readability, so maybe we could put the line breaks back in (more important) and keep the center out (less important).

Image Beside Table in List of Current Senators of Canada
[edit]Hi @Bruce1ee
Thanks for you help with fixing the image beside the table here: List of current senators of Canada#Standings
On some browsers, I'm still seeing the image a bit above and to the right of the table, and I'm wondering if you have any tips for how to get it to sit nicely beside the table (or a different arrangement, if that is preferred according the standards of the site). I'm relatively new at this but hope I can put some of my knowledge to good use updating related pages.
Thanks again!
Canadianpoliticaljunkie (talk) Canadianpoliticaljunkie (talk) 21:50, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Canadianpoliticaljunkie: I've seen this done before, but I can't remember where. I had a go at trying to fix this in my sandbox, and I was able to position the image immediately to the right of the table, although it still is a little too high. I'm no expert at table manipulation, but I'll give it some thought. If only I could remember where I've seen this before ... —Bruce1ee 00:03, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
- I think this is what you want: User:Bruce1ee/sandbox/List of current senators of Canada. It's definitely not the most elegant solution – I'm sure there are better ones out there. —Bruce1ee 06:27, 27 March 2025 (UTC)

- Hi Lowe4091, I didn't delete the picture, I removed the "thumb" file option, which should not be used in galleries as stated here. It was Magnolia677 who removed the picture the next edit per Wikipedia's image use policy. —Bruce1ee 22:16, 29 March 2025 (UTC)

Asking question
[edit]Hi Bruce1ee, About my page of "Sunpadh Rebellion" you removed the command code of small from my page because its "Too small" well I wanted to ask you what's good to use for it then? Should I use the command /sup and sup"? R3YBOl (talk) 14:38, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- MOS:SMALLFONT states that the text font size should not drop below 85% of the page's default font size. The font size of the text in most infoboxes has already been reduced, so using
<small>...</small>within the infobox often drops the font size to below 85%. In the case of {{Infobox military conflict}} in Sunpadh Rebellion, using small tags reduces the font size to about 74%. You could try..., but it would probably also drop the font size to below 85%. —Bruce1ee 15:17, 4 April 2025 (UTC)- why I wouldn't use the span style to adjust the font size into 90-87? I think this would work but before I would try it, I wanted to ask that if it does break the policy of Wikipedia? R3YBOl (talk) 16:52, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- You can use span style to reduce the font size, but just remember that the percentage you use is that of the infobox font size, which is already a percentage of the page default. —Bruce1ee 17:38, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- why I wouldn't use the span style to adjust the font size into 90-87? I think this would work but before I would try it, I wanted to ask that if it does break the policy of Wikipedia? R3YBOl (talk) 16:52, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
Disambiguation links
[edit]I'm not reverting you because I can't be bothered to battle this out, but your rationale is quite incorrect and the link you provide contradicts what you state. The whole point of piping a title is to remove the words in parenthesis for better reading, i.e. Bel Air (album) vs. Bel Air.
The format you are using, which I have never seen used before, is redundant. There is no point in using Bel Air (album) when you could just use Bel Air (album), i.e. Bel Air (album)|Bel Air (album) vs. Bel Air (album) -- the end result is the same with less characters used.
Again, piping the title is just used to clean up the text for reading purposes. You also ended up reverting some other changes I made that had nothing to do with disambiguation. freshacconci (✉) 12:40, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Freshacconci: The format I am using is not mine, it's the MOS for disambiguation pages – see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Disambiguation pages. The disambiguator "(album)" in Bel Air (album) needs to be visible and not hidden with a pipe (see MOS:DABPIPE). So Bel Air (album) should be listed as
[[Bel Air (album)|''Bel Air'' (album)]], i.e. Bel Air (album); "Bel Air" is italicized, but not "album" as it's not part of the album title. Have a look at these disambiguation pages, which all use the same formatting: Swan (disambiguation) and Greatest Hits (disambiguation). —Bruce1ee 13:48, 5 April 2025 (UTC)

Hi Admin please help us GMA Pictures page vandalism issue
[edit]I need help from you sinced you're autopatrolled confirmed use - with a Wikipedia issue. A user who was previously blocked for editing vandalism is now back and removing information from the GMA Pictures filmography page. The user's reasons for removal are invalid, and their actions are disrupting the page.
The user questions the integrity of IMDB, but IMDB is a reliable source that maintains comprehensive records of films, distributors, and producers worldwide. IMDB's data undergoes extensive verification, making it a trusted source for media organizations globally.
Here are the links to the vandalized edits:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Kutsero&action=edit&redlink=1
Given the user's history of vandalism and lack of valid reasons for removing content, I request that Wikipedia's administrators review this user's actions and consider blocking them again to prevent further disruption.
Unfortunately, I don't have the power to block users. I recommend reporting this issue to Wikipedia's administrators through their designated channels. 103.231.240.86 (talk) 05:56, 24 April 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Hello Bruce,
The link I added was to verify that the telescope I made was real and exists.
It is a new site to show how it was made. The original wiki I had was closed down a few years ago and did not have time to build another one.
I am not promoting myself in that site just sharing information on telescopes and thier design.
Would it be possible to reinstate the link as before? Included below. Thanks Dave

Lisp (Programming Language)
[edit]Thank you for "fixing" the image in the infobox. But - what did you fix? I wanted the image space filling to the width of the box. Now it is smaller, and, i feel, graphically less balanced. -- Cobalt pen (talk) 16:34, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Cobalt pen: Generally the syntax for infobox images is simply the file name plus the extension, with no "File" prefix or enclosing square brackets (see Template:Infobox programming language#Example). I've added "logo size" to the Lisp (programming language) infobox to increase the size of the logo to what you had before. —Bruce1ee 18:00, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hmm, i understand. I used the File prefix's "thumb" attribute to avoid setting an explicit resolutions. Description of the logo attribute reads "Filename for the image; e.g., 'File:Monodevelop Logo.svg'" (see Template:Infobox_programming_language#Parameters), so the template "syntax" is a bit unclear here. Unfortunately, i do not understand enough about template programming to fix this properly, so its ok for me. Thanks again. -- Cobalt pen (talk) 03:27, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
- You're right, the template documentation isn't very clear, although the logo parameter actually reads:
Filename for the image; e.g., 'Monodevelop Logo.svg'.

Newport News
[edit]I was originally going to write that the results for Newport News in 1888 and 1892 were mistakenly put there. It is actually the results for Norfolk City. And by looking at the results it is highly improbable that there would be such a high drop in vote between 1892 and 1896. In addition, Newport News was not made into an independent city until 1896 and was thus not separately counted outside of precinct level data for 1888 and 1892.

- @Illustriousdudeidk: The problem with your edit is that you have also removed the {{PresFoot}} template, which breaks the "United States presidential election results" table and moves it to the bottom of the page. Every {{PresHead}} template needs to have a {{PresFoot}} template. —Bruce1ee 10:27, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
Removal of images from Prafulla Chaki article
[edit]I noticed that you recently removed several important images from the Prafulla Chaki article without any explanation or prior discussion. These weren't random additions—they included photographs of close family members and associates who played key roles in his life and context. The montage was thoughtfully put together using the template to keep the formatting clean and in line with Wikipedia’s standards.
If there were any specific concerns—like image licensing, placement, or relevance—I’m more than happy to talk it over on the article’s talk page. But removing such historically relevant and properly sourced media without a clear reason doesn’t help improve the article, and it goes against the spirit of collaborative editing.
I’d appreciate it if you could either restore the images or share your reasoning so we can find a common ground.

Paula Toledo Wikipedia
[edit]Hello,
I am very sorry to keep grabbing your attention by putting together my 'Paula Toledo' music artist Wikipedia page incorrectly, including missing references. This is my first time creating a Wikipedia page, so I'm learning as I go. I have been instructed to put together the page by Paula Toledo herself, and I was wondering if you would consider helping me make the page to ensure I don't keep publishing it with errors. Failing that, I was wondering if you could put the page together personally. Please let me know and I will forward on a document of her information that she typed up and sent me.
Stevenwhitear00 (talk) 10:24, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Stevenwhitear00: There are two things I need to draw your attention to.
- The first is that you may have a conflict of interest. You say you "have been instructed to put together the page by Paula Toledo herself". What is your relationship to her? Is she paying you? Please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest to see if this applies to you and what you need to do if it does.
- The second is that the content of all Wikipedia articles need to be sourced from published reliable, independent and in-depth third party sources. A "document of her information that she typed up" is a primary source and not a third party source. Please read Wikipedia:Reliable sources. —Bruce1ee 11:53, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi there. I'm not being paid, I'm just a fan who reached out to her and offered to make a page for her. There is no connection past that.
- Thank you for the further advice on referencing. Stevenwhitear00 (talk) 11:59, 6 August 2025 (UTC)

you reverted a genuine edit to Pteraeolidia semperi
[edit]you reverted a genuine edit to Pteraeolidia semperi. The images shown are not Pteraeolidia ianthina.
This is documented here: https://nudibranchdomain.org/specious-sea-slugs-cryptics-mimics-variations-morphs/
I will go back and update the two pages to be consistent with the proper species attribution.
Not sure why you did not reach out before doing this. Reebadab (talk) 04:16, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- This issue is also documented in "Nudibranch & Sea Slug Identification, Indo-Pacific, 2nd ed" by Gosliner, Valdes and Behrens on page 331. (New World Publications, Inc.
- Jacksonville, Florida USA)
- Which explicitly states:
- Pteraeolidia semperi (Bergh, 1870)
- Size: 100 mm Widespread in the Indo-Pacific ID: Variable in color with different shades of green, blue, and
- brown, but consistently with bright blue bands on the oral tentacles. Dragon-like aeolid, easily recognized by its elongate
- shape and perfoliate rhinophores. Commonly in shallow water (1-10 m), often just below the low tide mark on walls; may be in
- the open or feeding on hydroids; adults tend to receive most of their nutrition from symbiotic zooxanthellae. The systematics
- of this group was clarified by Wilson & Burghardt (2015), --> Pteraeolidia ianthina is a temperate Australian species.
- The images shown in the Pteraeolidia ianthina are not Australia sourced but north species Pteraeolidia semperi. This is aloso clear based on the white faces near the head and the number of rings on the oral tentacles.
- Wilson & Burghardt (2015) - reference needs to be pulled and analyzed and the two pages should be properly updated.
- I have extended patience to you by clearly writing this to you. I will update again with the proper assignments and proper updated references, after I pull them and review the. Reebadab (talk) 04:25, 15 October 2025 (UTC)

Shewon Fonseka COI
[edit]Did you have an opinion on the COI on Shewon Fonseka? I would have fixed the wikilinking error, but I didn't know if I wanted to revert the COI and warn, or leave it and warn. Zinnober9 (talk) 02:23, 16 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Zinnober9: You're right, that is COI editing (the user's edit summaries are a giveaway). I generally avoid touching articles with suspect editing because that could imply that I'm endorsing those edits (if it's obvious vandalism, BLP violations or gross MoS infractions, I revert). But on this occasion I slipped up and didn't to check.
- So, what to do? Revert and warn, or just warn. The edits, while not perfect, aren't too bad, so perhaps a COI warning would suffice? —Bruce1ee 06:53, 16 October 2025 (UTC)
- "Not perfect but not too bad" was why I was on the fence on which route to take and was taking a little time to see if someone else had a stronger opinion than I. Jpeeling has since reverted based on LLM reasons (I don't see it, but it's possible), but since they didn't warn the user about anything, I'll add the COI message now. Zinnober9 (talk) 14:56, 16 October 2025 (UTC)

DYK for The Magician's Daughter
[edit]On 18 October 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Magician's Daughter, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that one reviewer criticised The Magician's Daughter for not mentioning its setting's historical context? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Magician's Daughter. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, The Magician's Daughter), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

lint
[edit]Does it make any difference on the front end? They make it complicated to remove. Ikhouvanjou14 (talk) 15:50, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Ikhouvanjou14: It doesn't make a difference on the front end, but not closing bold markup tags generates lint errors, and the page is added to the missing end tag error report. All tags like bold and italic markup must be closed as I did here. See Help:Lint errors/missing-end-tag for details. —Bruce1ee 17:05, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
