Also good timing. if youre free or have time i would appreciate yr assistance/feedback once again on Kittie's Spit; im mainly working in sandbox rn (revision is subject to change) but id say its like 90% ready; the main issues i have concern gender/image, and how/what/where/never? to include or write about it based on what i know in terms of 1.) what band says in interviews, 2.) reviews or other sources, and most annoying of all, 3.) cognitive dissonance based on the two mentioned points. there are other things also but im content working on em alone; i.e copyediting is mostly in the bag, some tour date sourcing, and needing to change/fix audio samples bc they're too long or the captions no longer work based on discovered info

@MFTP Dan Okay, basically:

Some reviews/interviews described Kittie as riot grrrl or compared them to all female bands (or "women in rock"); this comes up quite a bit but the band didnt cite many of them as influences. in many sources i could pull up morgan say she was mainly influenced by male bands and did not have any female bands or musical idols; despite many comparisons to hole/courtney love she has said she isn't inspired by her (though listened to early era hole) and also says in another interview she never listened to L7 or babes in toyland. i feel it would be redundant to mention these and then be like "but they said this is not the case" (i have noted this) but also worried i might commit false balance. what do i do?
Rather than talk about it in music or critical reception, would it be better to talk about jouranlist descriptions of kittie being sexually provocative with their image and song titles in the aftermath section, whose first paragraph deals with the way jouranlists interpreted kittie (using journalistic comment or band interviews). Reason being: 1. the band denies this and was irked by this, and i am too given the fact they were mostly minors at the time (15-17/16-18) and 2. idk if i understand it but i feel those comparisons in the music section would constitute false equivalence given point 1 denials; it is not true so why allude to it there???
Note 3: refers to bassist Tanya Candler. Sources indicate that early media attenion on Kittie was drawn to Candler's on-stage performances, specifically using dolls (I have sources that talk about this appearing in other media; not OR); the band dropped this after she left. morgan says its because they 1. didnt agree or 2. didnt want focus to be on shock value or their image. i don't know how relevant this is to the whole album story more than it relates to the media thing
