im douglas15amor, you apparently reversed my edit on Atlantic City Line due to the table not needed to be sorted, what if people just want to know their names in alphabetical order? thats the EXACT reason on why i made it sortable. Douglas15amor (talk) 11:04, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It is unlikely that the vast majority of readers will ever need to sort by alphabetical order. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 03:33, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

GO Transit

Seeing as the renaming proposal got shot down again, do you think we should focus on changing "Station" to "station" for now? Cards84664 17:48, 5 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Caltrain transfer image

[edit]
Caltrain Stadler KISS and South County Connector diesel train on two sides of the same platform at San Jose Diridon.

Hi. I saw the reversion comment "the other train is too far away to be properly seen at thumbnail size" and edited the image to zoom in on the central part. Does this version look reasonably clear in your opinion?SaarPro (talk) 06:54, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@SaarPro: It's still not a great illustration of the cross-platform transfer because the South County Connector train is very small in the frame, and is in shadow. If you have the opportunity, I would take another photo from a position closer to the shuttle train - similar to File:South County Connector train at San Jose Diridon station, February 2025.jpg, but with more of the electric train visible.
Some other notes about images:
  • Infobox images for stations should illustrate the stations themselves. (Depending on the station, that may mean platforms, station building, or both.) It's nice to have a train as well, but that shouldn't come at the expense of actually showing the station. Images like File:Caltrain and VTA at Mountain View station.png that primarily show trains, with little of the station itself visible, aren't the best choice for infobox images.
  • In most cases, galleries are not necessary, and they shouldn't be used merely as a way to add more images. (That's why we have Commons categories to contain all images of a subject). They should only be used when there is a specific need to illustrate certain aspects of a topic AND there is not enough prose for all the needed images.
  • PNG is not the best filetype for photographs; it results in large file sizes and doesn't always render well in thumbnails. JPG is fine for the vast majority of purposes (such as any photo taken with a cell phone). If there's a particular need for a lossless image - which is only relevant if you're shooting in raw image format to begin with - then use TIFF for uploading.
