  • Not a review, but I'd like to point out some things for the benefit of the first-time nominator here. The article in question is linked in bold from the hook, which I've done. Thegoofhere, there is also a failed verification tag that will need addressing before the page is passed. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 22:58, 4 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: No - ?
  • Interesting: No - ?
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.
QPQ: None required.

Overall: The article was created on 26 April, and was nominated for DYK on 3 May, which is a few hours after seven days. It is long enough with 5853 characters (896 words) of readable prose size. No copyright violations, plagiarism or close paraphrasing have been found in the article. The issue with this nomination is the provided hook, which in my opinion is not particularly interesting or intriguing, and its cited source at no point mentions this trend is particularly popular in Europe, just popular in general. Since the picture used is AI generated, it holds no copyright. It also looks good and clear at a 100px. A QPQ is not required for this nomination. I suggest the editor provides a new hook(s), if you need help or want suggestion for hooks, you can contact me in my talk page. NeoGaze (talk) 14:46, 15 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Thegoofhere: The content of ALT2 doesn't appear in the article, and its source doesn't specify Tralalero Tralala as being haram, but the whole Italian brainrot trend. It is also based on the opinion of a single tiktok user, which is no person of authority in the religion. ALT3 is problematic as well because its speculative. The film has not yet been completed, and so the proyect may come to nothing. I propose the following alts as alternatives, and if you approve them then we can proceed with these. NeoGaze (talk) 22:31, 21 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@NeoGaze:. Hi! My opinion may not count much.... But I think ATL6 would be best suited as it does not include an "according to...".Earth605 (talk) 15:29, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The nomination is already over two months old and has not been approved or promoted, so marking this for closure per WP:DYKTIMEOUT. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:39, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Narutolovehinata5: I have approved it (I added the template to make it more clear), I just requested a second opninion since this is my second review. @Earth605: Attribution is not really an issue as long as it is properly done with reliable sources, its up to the person that promotes the hook. NeoGaze (talk) 11:36, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
pinging @NeoGaze (This is very personal opinion, and should be respected.) "According to..." is very specific, as it means it's only an opinion, or that it is reported by one source. Earth605 (talk) 13:53, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Earth605: Okay, I don't really disagree with you, but I fail to see your point. Are you implying that the rest of ALTs are somehow worse? ALTs 5 and 6 are based on opinions, while 4 its a veryfiable fact not subject to dispute. Does that make it better? NeoGaze (talk) 14:16, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Earth605:In reality it's more like ATL 5 is based on opinion when ATL6 is kinda not. Well this discussion should be closed any time now really, so it doesn't even matter that much.
For what it's worth, DYKTIMEOUT also applies to nominations which have been approved but have not been promoted. I will let a promoter decided whether or not to promote or close the nomination. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 11:41, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Approving ALT6 as the most interesting of ALT4, ALT5, and ALT6.--Launchballer 14:36, 5 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I do not think this should not have been approved. The article asks the question if it is Islamophobic and says that some users said "that the original intent wasn’t meant to be Islamophobic or anti-religious." It does not mention anyone accusing it of being Islamophobic. The cited article reads as if lots of it was written with AI or translated. Aneirinn (talk) 03:45, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Technically, the source does mention Islamophobia accusations (from "As we've seen"), but after running several paragraphs through the AI detector I'm satisfied that the source shouldn't be used - and as this is more than two months old I'm timing it out.--Launchballer 05:30, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I, for one, believe blasphemy is distinct from Islamophobia. Aneirinn (talk) 17:02, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Can't we just proceed then with either ALT4 or 5 then? Do they have issues as well? NeoGaze (talk) 20:59, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't find ALT5 interesting and I don't see what makes Chosun reliable. If you're alright with ALT4a: ... that several Italian brainrot characters have been used to sell toys and NFTs?, then that should be okay?--Launchballer 21:08, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Fine by me, althrough I think @Thegoofhere: should also give his opinion. NeoGaze (talk) 21:19, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Rightie. ALT4a reveals information most people didn't know about, like Italian brainrot being used for NFTs. 🇺🇸Thegoofhere🇺🇸 (talk) 22:09, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Are we sure that a more interesting hook can't be provided for a subject as bizarre as Italian brainrot? How about that a video claiming that an AI generated crocodile-plane is used to bomb Palestine? Easternsahara (talk) 23:28, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Regrettably, the nomination is already long past DYKTIMEOUT. Given the backlog, I'm closing this. Apologies to the nominator who did their best with this nomination, and I hope this does not discourage you from contributing to DYK in the future. Name for Bombardino/Bombardiro Crocodilo?

[edit]

Throughout this article, the character is referred to as both Bombardino Crocodilo and Bombardiro Crocodilo. I believe we should have one consistent way to refer to him.

Personally, I think it should be the former, considering it‘s the most common way to refer to him that I‘ve seen on YouTube Shorts, but I‘m not entirely sure. What is your opinion on this? Which one should it be? SapphireElixir (talk) 15:34, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

According to Google Trends, the most popular name for him is "Bombardiro Crocodilo" instead of "Bombardino" or "Bombardino". Thegoofhere (talk) 21:09, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, good to know, thanks! SapphireElixir (talk) 05:10, 5 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's actually "Bombardino Crocodilo". That Google Trends link uses "Crocodilo" with two l's for the "Bombardino" spelling, which is a typo. Fixing this [1] shows that "Bombardino Crocodilo" is the most common spelling by far. Malerisch (talk) 07:19, 22 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeah, that makes sense! Thanks a lot! SapphireElixir (talk) 07:44, 22 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It is just a misspelling. Even the Guardian names it Bombardiro Crocodrilo. Trends accounts for search terms including those with typos. We should only use RS. Please revert (I attempted to but I'm at the phone so really can't). Guardian source: [2] Bedivere (talk) 19:18, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've changed it back to Bombardiro. 🇺🇸Thegoofhere🇺🇸 (talk) 19:27, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Israel/Palestine sanctions

[edit]

Should this really be under ARBCOM sanctions? The only connection in the article is a video mentioning the war. Soldiers aren't blowing up houses for having Angelina Cappuccino on them or whatever. -FelineHerder (talk) 09:21, 21 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it should. Bombardiro Crocodilo is a heavily controversial character known for mocking Muslims. Freedoxm (talk · contribs) 19:28, 21 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The terrorist crocodile makes fun of Muslims
Although the contentious part of Italian brainrot isn't the most popular aspect of it, they are noted by many sources, so it makes sense 🇺🇸Thegoofhere🇺🇸 (talk) 17:33, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Specific Italian brainrot animals

[edit]

Why don't we remove the section of specific Italian brainrot animals or add more, because the seemingly random list includes some of the more notable ones, but other famous animals are unmentioned, such as Tripi Tropi, Trulimero Trulichina, Chimpanzini Bananini. I just think we should either expand on this section or remove it and not have some arbitrary choices. TurtleFrog (talk) 22:49, 22 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I've tried adding some of the more popular ones, what do you think? Wackistan (talk) 08:22, 23 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think the edit is great! Thank you! TurtleFrog (talk) 11:42, 23 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we're not arbitrarily choosing characters. We're picking the most notable or popular ones 🇺🇸Thegoofhere🇺🇸 (talk) 00:34, 25 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Bombardino crocodilo's plane basis

[edit]

He his based off of a mix of a b-17 flying fortress and a b-25 Mitchell think that we should put that in the character description Larsonfan5 (talk) 23:41, 22 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

we need a source that actually mentions that first. More importantly, the AI likely merged them unintentionally, so I'm not sure if it should be noted to begin with. Wackistan (talk) 05:45, 23 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

mudgar?

[edit]

@Thegoofhere Which source exactly says that tung tung tung sahur "looks like a mudgar"? The Economic Times source that is used to cite this statement says nothing about that; in fact, it says Meanwhile, Tung Tung Tung is used to mimic the drum-beating that is used in several parts of Indonesia as a wake-up call for 'sahur'. 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 17:32, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Well I guess the typo failed my ctrl + f search 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 17:37, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Don’t you think the article mentioned the mudgar mainly to help Indian readers visualize it better, since it was published by an Indian media? Also, the article says it "closely resembles", not that it "resembles" a mudgar. I’m quite certain the object shown is actually a kentungan or an Indonesian slit drum. After all, mudgars aren’t really part of Indonesian culture. Lyonerov (talk) 13:54, 28 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Description of suggested change:

Diff:

Bombardiro Crocodilo is a flying alligator who drops bombs on children in Gaza and Palestine. He doesn't believe in Allah and loves bombs. He feeds on your mother's spirit, and if you've translated everything up to this point, you're a whore.

Bombardiro Crocodilo IS Islamophobic
