Ways to improve Abiodun Alao
[edit]Hi, I'm Mduvekot. Standtall78, thanks for creating Abiodun Alao!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please make an effort to write in a neutral tone, suitbale for an encyclopedia. There is no need to enbellish the subject's accomplishments. For example: You could rewrite "Among Alao's continuous academic endeavours was being a part of the team" as "Alao was part of the team". Some of the text simply makes no sense. I'm not sure, for example, what "numerous teaching and research engagements have made him a public intellectual who has extended the findings of his scholarship beyond any restrictive domains" even means.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Speedy deletion nomination of Akothee
[edit]
A tag has been placed on Akothee requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello, Standtall78. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Toyin Ajao, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

- Thank you, I wrote on my user page thinking I was adhering to the information I was asked to provide regarding a (COI) before creating the article. This was what I declared "I love Wikipedia. It is an unbeatable online encyclopaedia. I love to help create missing content from African perspectives especially of its people (known to me or unknown to me, including myself) who are making a difference, dismantling oppressive systems and transforming lives." For this, I receive no dime. I am only amplyfing voices and showcasing people with valuable contributions. Will this not suffice?
- Also, are there editors such as yourself who would take a look and clean-up this article?
- I would appreciate your feedback.
- Thanks. GypsyGoddess (talk) 22:29, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

- I have professional familiarity with Dr. Ajao's published work and public initiatives. GypsyGoddess (talk) 15:14, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- Could you please explain what you mean by "professional familiarity"? Do you have a professional or personal connection with Dr. Ajao? 2A02:C7C:4D0A:A500:18B3:9D6A:5198:86B5 (talk) 06:18, 2 August 2025 (UTC)

- Do you mean I declare here in this conversation, or I put this up on my page? Standtall78 (talk) 12:05, 6 August 2025 (UTC) This user has publicly declared that they have a conflict of interest regarding the Wikipedia article Toyin Ajao. - Please re-add the userbox, thanks. Could you also please clarify your relationship? Are you a colleague, or an employee? I noticed that you uploaded the close-up photo of her as your own work: are you creating the article for Dr. Ajao, or for an organisation she works for? 2A02:C7C:4D0A:A500:18B3:9D6A:5198:86B5 (talk) 12:35, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, I was coming to respond to you, and I realised you have updated the COI tag to another category. I thought other editors were also allowed to improve the content of the article? May I know where the undisclosed payment is coming from? That can't be farther from the truth.
- Disclosing partially, my relationship with Ajao is not the same as violating Wikipedia's policy of paying for an article or evading your questions.
- Is partial disclosure not allowed?
- I became guarded only because of how you proceeded with your query.
- I will put the conflict of interest tag as you recommended, which I have also mentioned to you I did before, albeit wrongly, as evident in the beginning of our conversation. i have been open with you and the process to genuinely seek your help.
- This accusation does feel personal. Like you are upset about something I did or did not do? If yes, is there a place to take this matter to resolve it, neutrally and fairly?
- Thanks. Standtall78 (talk) 14:51, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- I also do not know how to respond to these tags I have seen from you because I sometimes confused by Wikipedia technicalities. Permit me to answer you:
- 1. "(Tried to discuss at article creator's user talk page, but only getting continued evasion in response. Apparently this is UPE."
- I have been engaging with you, and I wasn't continuously evasive as you didn't wait for me to respond to your final question before you escalated the issue.
- 2. "User talk:Standtall78 →Conflict of interest: you added the userbox on 4 August, then blanked it two minutes later, which is a bit odd."
- Nope, it wasn't odd. I put it up to see if I got the instruction on ow to do it correctly, because I hadn't do it well the first time as showing in my initial response to you.tTen ,I came here to ask you if I should still put it up after figuring it out because you already put a COI tag on the article anyway.
- I was actually listening and implementing your suggestions.
- However, this recent development has been one big misunderstanding because of a lot of assumptions being made on both sides.
- Thanks for listening. Standtall78 (talk) 16:27, 7 August 2025 (UTC)

- Thank you.
- I am happy to answer all your questions if you kindly answer some of mine. I do not feel like this is a collaborative process. I felt like I was under some interrogation for a wrongdoing that you are waiting to punish me for.
- I was coming to respond to you with a full disclosure when I saw that you had retagged the article.
- You didn't wait for any confirmation or reply from me before proceeding to do that, even though I had honestly told you it was not paid for, and that I knew the subject.
- You haven't given me any chance at all to feel safe to continue this discussion with you.
- So:
- 1. May I know why you moved swiftly to undisclosed paid when I was still engaging with you?
- 2. May I know why you didn't acknowledge the imrprovement on the page based on your suggestions?
- 3. May I know why you did not edit the page for neutrality yourself?
- 4. May I know what exactly is wrong with the picture and my disclosure to you as it is that I know Ajao?
- If you still don't want to engage in any conversation with me, rather than interrogating me continously, I am happy if you escalate this issue beyond the two of us.
- Thanks a lot. Standtall78 (talk) 18:00, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- I changed the tag to undisclosed paid because you have several times here avoided clarifying the nature of your connection, and undisclosed paid seemed a reasonable inference.
- I hereby acknowledge the improvements you've made, thanks, but that's beside the point.
- I've made minimal edits myself (mostly merging duplicate references and some edits for MOS:LAYOUT), because the article needs a complete rewrite: it reads like a cross between a magazine article and a résumé.
- If you took the close-up picture of Ajao in the course of your work with her, then that would further indicate a conflict of interest.
- Are you going to tell me what your connection is with her? If not, then I must reluctantly take this to the Conflict of Interest Noticeboard, to see what the consensus is there on what to do with the article. 2A02:C7C:4D0A:A500:18B3:9D6A:5198:86B5 (talk) 18:17, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- You are welcome.
- I haven't avoided clarifying my connection. I answered you, but you were dissatisfied with my responses.
- I made a disclosure, but you considered it insufficient. And your line of query was making me feel like you are looking for a particular fault, to prove that it is a paid job?
- I recalled that at the beginning of our conversation, you didn't want to be involved beyond pointing me in the direction of what to do, but my follow-up reply led to more questions without you attempting to answer any of my concerns. Everything turned into interrogations.
- If you look at when I started contributing to Wikipedia over a decade ago, my first article was flagged for deletion because it didn't meet Wikipedia criteria. But other editors were collaborative and helpful. I was not punished for being a novice. I was guided.
- And the issue was resolved, and the article published. And I have published/edited many more since then. So, that was not beside the point because I do not know how else a biography should be written.
- But if the writing style is problematic for you, suggest the rewrite process and alert other editors to assist. Otherwise, I am happy if you take the issue to the Conflict of Interest Noticeboard.
- I will be on the lookout for that.
- Dankie. Standtall78 (talk) 18:43, 7 August 2025 (UTC)

I take Wikipedia’s neutrality and transparency policies seriously and will continue to disclose such relationships clearly.

Speedy deletion nomination of Abdul Karim Bangura
[edit]Hello SyzygyRebel,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Abdul Karim Bangura for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.
If you don't want Abdul Karim Bangura to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

- Thank you so much @Ipigott. I am grateful for receiving this message from you and for being welcomed into the family. Thank you. The Ten Simple Rules are so helpful, as I saw a couple of mistakes I have made already. I am recognising now that I may need to exercise rule number 9 in relation to Toyin Ajao's article in AFC Draftspace, but I am not sure I have a clear understanding of how to do it yet. Will it suffice to add {{WikiProject Biography}},and {{WikiProject banner shell}} to her talk page? Please advise. Thank you. SyzygyRebel (talk) 13:37, 11 October 2025 (UTC)
- Once your draft has been moved to mainspace, you can simply mention the biographies on its talk page. You'll find plenty of examples in similar biographies.--Ipigott (talk) 14:54, 11 October 2025 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for October 28
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Njoki Wamai, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Academic. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
