Jewish revolt against heraclius

[edit]

I noticed that you said there was no result for the revolt, but there was, in the revolt itself the jews won and controlled jerusalem with the persians, the byzantines took it only after the revolt was over, but the revolt itself succeeded, and it is mentioned in the aftermath I dont need to send a proof the proof is there. 176.230.141.166 (talk) 22:50, 15 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Where is the proof? ... discospinster talk 16:31, 19 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Literally written in ur own page, Omer9183 (talk) 16:05, 22 May 2025 (UTC)"After the successful Sasanian siege of Jerusalem,[45] Jews were given autonomy under Nehemiah Ben Hushiel and Benjamin of Tiberias.[46] Yet this period of Jewish autonomy in Jerusalem only lasted from 614–617, as the Persians did not go through with the plans of building a Third Temple, and soon after Hercalius re-conquered Jerusalem, Heraclius only took it later, but the Siege itself was over and the Jews won, so the revolt was a victory for the Jews.[reply]

Please block this vandalizing IP

[edit]

Hello there. You recently blocked an IP that was persistently vandalizing Tiraspol repeatedly. It seems they are now vandalizing Jorit in a similar fashion. Could you now block that new IP? The Sophocrat (talk) 03:18, 4 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, User:Joyous! already blocked them. I don't know if someone has reported it somewhere but this particular vandal seems to be IP-hopping and vandalizing in a particular fashion. The Sophocrat (talk) 03:22, 4 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
They persist with their vandalism. When I see them I revert them, but they obstinately continue. As a non-admin I can't block them, and since they IP hop they need to be blocked constantly. Seeing as I can't block them and it isn't practical to call an admin each time, what should I do when I spot them? The Sophocrat (talk) 03:49, 4 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately the only thing you can do is post on WP:ANI and possibly WP:RFPP to get the page protected. There are scripts that can help you do that quickly, see WP:TWINKLE for example. ... discospinster talk 17:40, 4 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question on reverting a change to a summary

[edit]

Hey there, you reverted a change to the summary on Dorian Yates despite it being factually correct, relevant, and supported by direct sourcing (a video of Dorian in which he espouses holocaust denial conspiracies). Can you help me understand why you reverted the change? Realspool32 (talk) 19:50, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Holocaust denial is not his profession, nor is it the reason he is notable or famous. The introductory paragraph should only mention these types of things. Otherwise it is giving undue weight to a particular aspect of the person's life, which could go against the policy of neutrality. ... discospinster talk 20:11, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Three points:
1) His nationality is also not his profession or a reason he's notable or famous, and yet it is included. This seems inconsistent.

2) Willing self-declared denial of the Holocaust in an otherwise famous figure is notable on its face. A lack of reference in the summary becomes its own violation of the neutrality policy.

3) The interview in question was given in the context of a discussion of his profession. Yates chose to address this opinion because it was notable within his professional community. This suggests it was already relevant and should be included in the summary.

I'd like to include this fact again. Thoughts?Realspool32 (talk) 23:17, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the subsection "First sentence" in the page that I linked. Holocaust denial is not notable on its face any more than other controversial views. Some individuals are known for it, such as those listed in Category:Holocaust deniers, but Dorian Yates is not known for this. It's mentioned in the "Personal life" section of his article and that is sufficient. ... discospinster talk 23:45, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, recently you blocked User IP: 97.118.176.69. This user has apparently been bullied by User: FlighTime because his account had only been used to vandalism. Mammoth Mammoth band article

Hi, just wanted to let you know about a blocked account MMammothBand that is requesting an unblock. They made an edit that was reverted but then subsequently restored word-for-word by Bridgehampton1970, the one you're currently having a edit-warring problem with. Heya disco. You create-protected Grant Cardone a few years back because people kept recreating a version that was too advertisement-like. Autopatrolled, experienced editor Horse Eye's Back has been working on Draft:Grant Cardone and thinks its ready for publication. AFC reviewer SafariScribe declined the draft for a reason that is pretty obviously mistaken, and SS has been AWOL on this matter despite being active elsewhere. Due to the decline, a request for unprotection at RFPP was rejected. I pinged you there, but it was quickly archived. As the protecting admin, would you consider unprotection? Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 12:15, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

OK I have unprotected it. ... discospinster talk 19:59, 1 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I think there are still some formal channels to go through as SafariScribe eventally made the page at Grant Cardone (businessman) which was then speedily deleted under G4 (which does not apply to it but the admin is standing by their speedy deletion). Hopefully this makes it all a bit easier to clean up. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 20:04, 1 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Article on John Churchill (lawyer)

[edit]

This article confuses John Churchill (lawyer) with his nephew Sir John Churchill (judge), despite the warning on the latter's article "He should not be confused with his uncle John Churchill." Many of the facts in this article are therefore wrong. My main source is The Early Churchills, an English Family, author A.L. Rouse, Publisher Macmillan & Co. Ltd. For the date of death and place of burial, I can provide a photo of the tombstone. Rouse also gives the wrong date of death. Camtrin (talk) 00:48, 1 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Trichloroethylene

[edit]

Hello, I've been researching this chemical for years and I know all mechanisms behind its health effects, reaction and usage. Trichloroethylene is a strong analgesic which is especially effective for neuralgia-type pain. Trichloroethylene has been mentioned as used as an analgesic for some types of headaches in the past.

So basically, pure trichloroethylene does not cause headaches and it's the opposite. The source in the article likely refers to industrial grade trichloroethylene which has impurities, mostly dichloroacetylene formed due to decomposition of trichloroethylene. Dichloroacetylene is a neurotoxin and it causes headaches. That's what I'm trying to tell. The source in the article is vague and needs clarification. ISG. I have added in the report

[edit]

I have attached the report by the ISG. I can not link to the exact page but it is in the second PDF when you download it.

It states: ISG has uncovered numerous examples of Iraq’s disregard for UN sanctions and resolutions in an effort to improve its missile and UAV capabilities. These violations repeatedly breached UNSCR 687, 707, 715, 1051, 1284, 1441 and pursuant annexes and enabled Iraq to develop more robust delivery system programs. Also: Several former high-level Regime offi cials and scientists directly affi liated with Iraq’s military industries have indicated that Iraq intentionally withheld information from the UN regarding its delivery systems programs, to include research into delivery systems with design ranges well in excess of 150 km.

This pattern of activity occurred at all levels and indicates a widespread effort to protect certain activities and to deceive the international community. According to numerous sources, Iraq worked on several delivery system projects that were never declared to the UN, violating UNSCR 1441 DuelfersReport (talk) 00:05, 15 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, news is circulating in astronomy circles (from reliable sources) that he sadly passed away in his sleep on the 14 June.
