Inacccurate edit summaries

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia.

I've noticed several of your recent edit summaries do not correspond at all to the content of the edit. This edit did not involve references at all; this edit, while constructive, did not involve "Spelling/grammar/punctuation/typographical corrections", and neither this edit nor this edit qualify as a minor edits as they involve adding material or claims. Collaboration among editors is fundamental to Wikipedia - going forward, please ensure your edit summaries are accurate. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.

Thank you - 4300streetcar (talk) 23:34, 27 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Added significantly more on an article

[edit]

I had significantly improved article GE Dash 8-44CW, grade (stub) did not change, is it enough text and that it is qualified as a start-class article?

BilltheBison (talk) 22:40, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
This matter requires no administrative action, so next time you can just request general (non-admin) help, or even just post a message on that article's talk page.
The rater tool is saying the article is probably now at 'C' grade. Although that said, it is almost entirely unreferenced, citing just a single source, once, which isn't enough to either support the article contents or to establish the subject's notability. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:28, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited GE Dash 8-44CW, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Co-Co. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 07:54, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Patar knight. I noticed that you have been adding short descriptions to articles. However, the short descriptions you added are too long to be effective, such as at GE Dash 8-44CW. The guideline is that short descriptions should ideally be under 40 characters long, and no longer than needed. For more information, see the short description guidelines. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you. -- Patar knight - chat/contributions 02:16, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:CSX 9028, a C44-8W.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a copyright violation of https://www.flickr.com/photos/99142371@N02/20589439839/in/photostream/ states all rights reserved and has no credible claim of non-free use or permission. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Replaceable non-free use File:CSX 9031 leads a train.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:CSX 9031 leads a train.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the file description page and add the text below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
 2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 02:44, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to change the title of a page by cutting its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into General Electric Dash 8-44CW. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Information icon Hello, I'm Trainsandotherthings. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, GE Dash 8-44CW, but you didn't provide a reliable source. On Wikipedia, it's important that article content be verifiable. If you'd like to resubmit your change with a citation, your edit is archived in the page history. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 23:57, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

GE ES line moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to GE ES line. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources and it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

It is preferable that you do not create an article with no sources and immediately tag it as such yourself. In the time it took to do that, could you not have just copied out the sources you used to write the article into inline citations? aesurias (talk) 23:40, 15 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Tendentious editing at GE Dash 8-44CW

[edit]

Recently, you've made a significant amount of edits to the article GE Dash 8-44CW, and yet none of them seems to be reasonably constructive. These include addition of information without citing sources, attempted WP:CFORK copy-paste move, and improperly adding a merge template without starting the merge discussion on the article's talk page. These edits aren't really helpful and sometimes even be disruptive. See that guideline for details. EditorGirlAL07 (talk) 09:57, 21 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Users "make a page" generator

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Users "make a page" generator. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – :{article}. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at :{article}. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Tbhotch (CC BY-SA 4.0) 02:26, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Goodman CK (disambiguation)

[edit]

Hello BilltheBison,

I'm MPGuy2824, and I patrol new pages here on Wikipedia.

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged a page that you created (Goodman CK (disambiguation)) for deletion because it is an unnecessary disambiguation page per one of the criteria at WP:G14.

If you feel that the page shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with MPGuy2824. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Your submission at Articles for creation: Goodman CK/CKL (December 14)

[edit]
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by AlphaCore were:
This draft's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article. In summary, the draft needs multiple published sources that are:
Make sure you add references that meet all four of these criteria before resubmitting. Learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue. If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.
The comment the reviewer left was:
Primary sources cannot establish notability.

The content is more like an Advert or a brochure. See WP:NPOV.

Please do not resubmit without considerable improvements
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.
