I started editing under this account shortly after the New Year, 2008, after editing under an IP for a while. My username is derived from that of User:Destroyerofthewiki, a sockpuppet of User:DavidYork71. Instead of destroying the wiki, I want to edit it, and I would have chosen a better username, but all the good ones are taken. I think that I did quite well with what's left, don't you think?

I have been active member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Earthquakes. I don't really have much of a liking of these destructive ruptures, in case you're wondering. They are pretty fun to write about however. My time there has not been wasted: I basically wrote FA 2002 Bou'in-Zahra earthquake (with some copyediting help and some small additions, mostly from User:Ceranthor) and GA 1992 Nicaragua earthquake (also written from scratch--this was speedied while a stub!).

I have also been active writing basketball articles, among other subjects.

I will tell you nothing about my personal life, since I don't know who you are, except I am a male human from the Planet Earth who was born sometime in the 20th century.

When not to use links

It is possible to create links to every word in an article. But providing too many defeats their purpose by obscuring the most relevant links. Here's an example of overlinking:

Wikipedia's greatness stems from being able to link articles together easily, but don't overdo it. It can get really annoying and does not help the reader.

The above passage hides the relevant link. Compare that with this:

Scott Carpenter

Scott Carpenter (1925–2013) was one of the Mercury Seven astronauts selected for NASA's Project Mercury. In 1962, Carpenter flew the Mercury-Atlas 7 mission to become the second American to orbit Earth and the fourth to fly into space. His spacecraft, which he named Aurora 7, malfunctioned and landed 250 miles (400 km) from its intended splashdown point. In 1964, Carpenter took a leave of absence to join the U.S. Navy's SEALAB project. During aquanaut training, he suffered injuries that grounded him, making him unavailable for further spaceflights. In 1965, he spent 28 days on the ocean floor as part of SEALAB II. He returned to NASA as Executive Assistant to the Director of the Manned Spacecraft Center. He retired from NASA in 1967 and the Navy in 1969, with the rank of commander. Carpenter became a consultant on space flight and oceanography. He appeared in television commercials and wrote a pair of technothrillers and an autobiography. (Full article...)
