[edit]Hey there... I haven't seen you at the FL project in a while and just wanted to check in to see how you're doing! 😃 Bgsu98 (Talk) 15:32, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Bgsu98: Hi, thanks for checking in, I appreciate it a lot! I had gotten a little sidetracked with the Doctor Who series 15 episode articles for a little while, which consumed most of my on-wiki time. Since that's nearly wrapped up though, I'm looking forward to jumping back into reviewing and nominating FL's. I actually just pushed through an FLC nom for List of Private Practice episodes (and an FAC nom for Deer Lady), if you're interested in taking a look at either of those. I see that you have two FLC noms up right now I'll try to take a look at them and leave a review on them soon. Hope you're doing well too?
TheDoctorWho (talk) 05:42, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
- I did the source review for your Private Practice article... There are some problems with the season 1 and 2 ratings. As for me, this wasn't the highlight of my Wikitenure. 🥴 Bgsu98 (Talk) 13:52, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
- I did the source review for your FAC nomination. I also have one article at FAC – 2021 World Figure Skating Championships – and another at FL – North American Figure Skating Championships. Is the PP article the only one you have at FL right now? Bgsu98 (Talk) 22:07, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Bgsu98: Thanks for doing the source review on both of those for me! Yup, those are my only two right now. I have another FLC in mind I'll try to get up in a few weeks (but knowing me, we'll see). I'll definitely check out your other two nom's. And big oof, reading over that AFD discussion on the Bulgaria Juniors gave me a headache (would've been an easy keep for me too). TheDoctorWho (talk) 16:55, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
- It seems to me source reviews are what most people enjoy doing the least, but they're usually not too bad, so I don't mind doing them if it helps out. Bgsu98 (Talk) 16:57, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
- I honestly enjoy doing source reviews for topic-adjacent areas to what I usually edit in. Sometimes they just a bit more of a time-commitment to check quality, formatting, supported statements, etc., so I don't always get to do them quite as often as I like. TheDoctorWho (talk) 18:20, 28 June 2025 (UTC)

DYK for The Reality War
[edit]On 26 June 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Reality War, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a Doctor Who episode was still in post-production in the month before it aired? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Reality War. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, The Reality War), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Elimination tables are needed in The Great Food Truck Race's page
[edit]I don't understand why elimination tables are not needed just because episode summaries exist. It's like saying we don't need to have graphs because the information on the graphs are already written in paragraphs. The pages for other shows, like MasterChef, Top Chef, Survivor and the Amazing Race, have both episode summaries and elimination tables. Elimination tables are much easier to look at to quickly see the results and the progression of each team episode-by-episode. Also, they are far easier to update than episode summaries.
Also, a lot of the episode summaries are too long because they contain a lot of unnecessary information. They are harder to read because of that. They also don't cover much ground about how each team performed other than the 1st place finisher and the eliminated team. Lastly, 14 seasons of The Great Food Truck Race don't have any information about what happened in those seasons TheVoicelessWriter (talk) 04:35, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- @TheVoicelssWriter: Per WP:BRD please don't revert further while discussion is ongoing. You made a bold edit that was reverted, the status quo should remain in place while discussion is ongoing. Please see WP:OTHERCONTENT and WP:OTHERSTUFF, just because "graphs and information" exists in one article, doesn't mean that it should automatically be included in other articles. All of the examples that you named have individual season articles, which is the proper place for this type of content.
- The Great Food Truck Race does not have season articles (bar season 11, which does have a table). A "list of episodes" page isn't the appropriate place for these types of tables (see List of Top Chef episodes, List of MasterChef Canada episodes, List of Survivor episodes, and List of Amazing Race episodes for the proper equivalent), and should be limited to the article title. If you do want to include them, write season articles instead. TheDoctorWho (talk) 21:00, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

Second opinion requested
[edit]I am looking for a quick second opinion. I have just finished auditing Norwegian Figure Skating Championships. I had included a History section, but chose to eliminate it and instead slightly expand the lead, since the History section basically just repeated what was already in the lead. You can see a previous version of the article here. This article isn't like some of the other articles I've done (like the U.S., Canada, and Great Britain), where there is extensive information to include. It seems to me that the inclusion here is unnecessary and redundant. What do you think? Bgsu98 (Talk) 20:38, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Apologies for taking so long to get to your FLC's. I ended up coming down with a cold last week and wasn't active as much as I'd originally hoped.
- If that's all of the history information available, I'd agree that it's probably best without one. Most lists can be dealt with on a case-by-case for things like that. When I originally expanded List of ghost towns in Oklahoma, I had all of the stuff in the history section in the lead (as can be seen here), because no history section existed prior to that, nor did any of the lists for the other 50 states. Then I realized that the lead was unproportionately large and that an exception was warranted there. The same could be said for the Norwegian article, just from the opposite perspective. I definitely wouldn't oppose at FLC for lack of having one here. TheDoctorWho (talk) 21:30, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Pinging @Bgsu98: to the above response. TheDoctorWho (talk) 21:33, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- I hope you're feeling better! The first article I brought to FLC in this series – Ukrainian Figure Skating Championships – had nothing between the lead and the tables. That discussion revealed that the lead was too short, so that's where a lot of the items which are not standard in my articles came from: who holds the most gold medals, etc. The next articles were all big: the U.S., Europe, World, Canada, Great Britain, Grand Prix de France... all with extensive histories. So when it came time for Estonia, I was so used to having a history, I struggled to pad it out, and frankly, I don't like how it turned out. I think, like with Norway, the lead can be expanded and the history section eliminated. Several of these just don't have a lot of extra stuff worth mentioning. Switzerland is another one that's done and ready to go; there just isn't a lot of extra stuff there. On the other hand, East Germany, Russia, and the Czech Republic, which are also ready to go, have histories worth expanding upon. I just wanted a second opinion. I think the Norway article, and also the Switzerland article, are better off without a history section that would ultimately just be repetitive and padding. Bgsu98 (Talk) 23:24, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Bgsu98: Sorry again for the delayed response, but I'd definitely agree with the way it seems you're leaning. If it came down to having to choose between a very well-fleshed out lead or a weak lead and weak history section because the two are split, I'd always pick the one that allows for stronger prose. TheDoctorWho (talk) 02:39, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
- User:TheDoctorWho: I have the following articles up for FA/FL review if you have a free minute or two. Also let me know if you have anything in need of a review!

Administrators' newsletter – August 2025
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (July 2025).
- Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, G15, has been enacted. It applies to pages generated by a large language model (LLM) without human review.
- Following a request for comment, there is a new policy outlining the granting of permissions to view the IP addresses of temporary accounts. Temporary account deployment on the English Wikipedia is currently scheduled for September 2025, and editors can request access to the permission ahead of time. Admins are encouraged to keep an eye on the request page; there will likely be a flood of editors requesting the permission when they realize they can no longer see IP addresses.
- Administrators can now restrict the "Add a Link" feature to newcomers. The "Add a Link" Structured Task helps new account holders get started with editing. Administrators can configure this setting in the Community Configuration page.

Temporary account IP viewer granted
[edit]
Hello, TheDoctorWho. Per your request, your account has been granted temporary account IP viewer rights. You are now able to reveal the IP addresses of individuals using temporary accounts that are not visible to the general public. This is very sensitive information that is only to be used to aid in anti-abuse workflows. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer for more information on this user right. It is important to remember:
- You must not share IP address data with someone who does not have the same access permissions unless disclosure is permissible as per guidelines listed at Foundation:Policy:Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy.
- Access should not be used for political control, to apply pressure on editors, or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to investigate a temporary user. Note that using multiple temporary accounts is not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of policies (for example, block or ban evasion).
It is also important to note that the following actions are logged for others to see:
- When a user accepts the preference that enables or disables IP reveal for their account.
- Revealing an IP address of a temporary account.
- Listing the temporary accounts that are associated with an IP address or CIDR range.
Remember, even if a user is violating policy, avoid revealing personal information if possible. Use temporary account usernames rather than disclosing IP addresses directly, or give information such as same network/not same network or similar. If you do not want the user right anymore then please ask me or another administrator and it will be removed for you. You may also voluntarily give up access at any time by visiting Special:Preferences. Happy editing! asilvering (talk) 04:52, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
