Sorry Govvy, that's my bad. I am trying to delete all these blank articles that user:Mathew D'Marco created for a bunch of Ligue 1 and Serie A clubs for the 2025-26 season in May and then just re-directed to the club's main pages. The user didn't actually begin editing any of these articles. Instead, it seems like they just wanted credit for creating the article and not actually make any substantive edits. Adding in Kante4, RedPatch, SportingFlyer, and Stevie fae Scotland as I see there was a discussion about this recently. What is the best way to go about handling this and deleting all these articles? User:Mathew D'Marco has done this for a ton of Ligue 1, Serie A, La Liga, and Bundesliga clubs with no intention of making any substantive edits for the sole purpose of getting credit for creating the articles. Why I'm reverting you

I would have thought the reason was obvious and sufficiently explained on JJMC89's talk page; these pages aren't test pages, and you admitted they weren't test pages (There is a general consensus that the user who created all these blank club season articles and re-directed them to the club's main article page did so to get the credit for creating the page; that is a motivation distinct from testing). And on top of that you're WP:ADMINSHOPing, which is inappropriate; if an admin declines a CSD, regardless of how ridiculous their reason may seem to you, then the correct response is to start a deletion discussion, not try to ask a different admin to do the same thing. * Pppery * _{it has begun...} 23:41, 6 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

There is a general consensus from wiki football editors that this user created all the blank articles and then contributed nothing to them for four months in the hopes that that they would get credit for other users doing the work. You can see the discussion about this here: [[redirects for new seasons. The user has also deleted multiple attempts on their talk page by editors to communicate with them about this practice. Your issue with me seems to be that I used the wrong speedy deletion template and then admonish me for being the person who actually is trying to resolve this issue. No, my issue is that you're requesting speedy deletion when speedy deletion doesn't apply, and refusing to listen to the two previous admins who told you it didn't apply (JJMC89 and Isabelle Belato). They said that the pages didn't qualify for speedy deletion. Then it's the subpage that never existed. The 2025-26 season article for all of these clubs never existed. And none of the WPF users want to continue to make edits to these blank articles to give the user credit for creating these blank redirect articles. You're being critical and arguing over the semantics of how I nominated the page for deletion rather than being supportive of an editor who is trying to make constructive edits to wikipedia. Wikipedia's deletion policy requires admins to engage in the behavior you're calling arguing over semantics rather than deleting things based on their own whims. And I don't think there can be a better way; not having this rule would be the first step toward turning us into a wild west culture where admins acted like kings rather than the janitors they are supposed to be. Hello. I came here after seeing something speedy tagged in my watchlist. WP:RETURNTORED cited in the WP Project discussion is a criteria for deletion, not speedy deletion. If you take this to a discussion at RFD, you will probably find support for pages where there is no mention of a particular season, etc. at the target page yet. You can also nominate multiple pages in the same discussion, just be thoughtful about it. To many isolated discussions can become tiresome to !Voters, but too many nominated together can lead to a WP:TRAINWRECK over some being supported and others not. I don’t think what you’re trying to accomplish is wrong, it’s just the wrong method. A week-long discussion isn’t too bad. All the best. -2pou (talk) 00:23, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 2pou, thank you so much for explaining this to me. In all my years of editing on wiki, deleting articles is not something I had ever ventured into before. Nor had I seen admins revert edits with no explanation. Appreciate you outlining the steps needed to nominate these articles. I will start a discussion at RFD.
