Introduction to contentious topics

Category verification issues

Hi, I am aware that some editors use categories pretty loosely, but they are also subject to the verifiability policy. I noticed you added some articles to this category when their articles did not describe them as "anti-Zionist". To be included in this category the person must self-identify as anti-Zionist or be described as such in reliable sources that are cited in the article.In this article for example the only arguably anti-zionist statement or action that appears is referring to Israel as an apartheid state, but even some zionists would agree with that statement. Categorizing bios as Israeli soldiers

Hello! I see you categorized the article Esti Ginzburg as an Israeli solder. Given that Israeli citizens are required to serve in the military, I don't think this amounts to a defining characteristic, as required by WP:CAAP#D. I would imagine this applies to most articles on famous Israelis who served. If there's been a discussion on this or something though and I'm wrong, feel free to let me know! My rule of thumb is that if it's notable enough for Wikipedia, it's notable enough to categorize. There are plenty of Israelis whose possible military service is not mentioned on their page. As such, I wouldn't include it in their categories. Wisenerd (talk) 23:31, 11 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:NOTABILITY, that information should only be included on their page if it is significant and noteworthy to the person. Esti Ginzburg has such an entry on her page:

In October of that year, while speaking in support of military enlistment, she caused headlines by criticizing her fellow Israeli model Bar Refaeli for evading military service via a short-lived marriage to a family friend. Again, Wikipedia policy—try WP:CATDEF too—ties categorization to defining characteristics, not to every potential piece of information in an article. Wikipedia even has an an entire page dedicated to avoiding this. In Ginzburg's case, and probably many others, her military service is irrelevant to her notability and not defining. I did a cursory look up of Ginzberg and it appears that her IDF service is relevant to her notability up until media appearances in October 2023. That makes it more central to her career than Adam Driver's military career, who still has on his page Category:Military personnel from Indiana and Category:Military personnel from San Diego County, California Wisenerd (talk) 00:17, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Don't use Wikipedia as a source on Wikipedia as that is a WP:CIRCULAR reference. Also, don't use allegedly or reportedly without reasonably explaining the doubt because those are WP:WEASEL words. Also the Gaza kinocide page that you cied on the lieber institute doesn't exist which may be evidence of AI use. If it is, please verify whatever ai produces.
