[edit]Hi Folkezoft. Thank you for your work on Armed Forces Pension Scheme. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Thanks for creating this page, consistent with other UK public pension scheme pages. Notability confirmed with 2 reliable sources (House of Commons library reports) independent of the fund. Clear and consistent structure. I don't think that having 'empty sections' is aesthetically pleasing for readers, so I'd focus on filling these first. Just a reference supporting the facts (which need not be indepedent of the scheme) supporting the existence fo AFPS 75 and AFPS 15 would be helpful.

Duplicate reference tagging
[edit]I noticed you add a fair amount of duplicate reference tags on pages you come across. It would be nice if you could fix the duplicate references rather than tagging the article. Usually, there are just a few duplications. See the policy page WP:TAGGING:
- If possible, fix small problems yourself rather than tagging and leaving an article (see the section on constructive tagging for more details).
- It is better if people solve the problems they encounter themselves, but not everyone may be able to.
- Placing tags is, in itself, not a means of improving the encyclopedia: It is only a means of asking other people to improve an article that you cannot or will not improve yourself.

Clean up question
[edit]@Folkezoft: Hey. I noticed some edits of your's on Wyoming state House district articles like this one. The edits are labelled "clean up". These aren't major problems, but they don't seem to really do anything to improve the article. All they seem to do is make the names of the references less standard. Is there a reason you've made these edits? If not would mind me reverting them? RoundSquare (talk) 19:08, 22 June 2025 (UTC)

CS1 error on Chinese Indonesians
[edit] Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Chinese Indonesians, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:
- A bare URL error. References show this error when one of the URL-containing parameters cannot be paired with an associated title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)
Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 21:26, 5 July 2025 (UTC)

- After your first comment I made sure that AutoWikiBrowser was set to skip pages where the changes made are "Only minor genfixes". I looked at the edits after your comment and whilst the fixes are small, they are visible to readers like changing - to – in page numbers. Is using the skip minor genfixes settings acceptable? If you think that setting is not enough perhaps there should be a wider discussion over at AWB about what is a minor gen fix because from my understanding if that is enabled then it is more than a 'useless' edit. Non-attributed translations
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you translated text from el:Γιάννης_Λοβέρδος to Ioannis Loverdos. While you are welcome to translate Wikipedia content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Wikipedia article, this is supplied at a minimum in an edit summary on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and linking it to the source page. Sample wording for this is given here. If you forgot, or were not aware of this requirement, attribution must be given retroactively, for example:
NOTE: Content in the edit of 01:25, January 25, 2023 was translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at [[:fr:Exact name of French article]]; see its history for attribution.
Retroactive attribution may be added using a dummy edit; see Repairing insufficient attribution. It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{translated page}} template on the talk page of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, you must add attribution retrospectively, even if it was a long time ago. You can read more about author attribution and the reasons for it at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 15:16, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
- I actually hadn't translated from the Greek article but see you have attributed in the page history and I am happy with that if it avoids any legal problems. Folkezoft (talk) 17:25, 12 August 2025 (UTC)

Questions about recent updates
[edit]Hello, you updated Elkhorn Creek (Nodaway River tributary) to put the coords at the bottom instead of in the infobox, also they are not labelled what they are, also the coords no longer have the standard format=dms. I question why you would do this. Look at these articles, they have the source and mouth coords in the infobox, formatted dms: Missouri River, Ohio River, Grand River (Missouri). I just followed the standard form. I think I will revert those changes of yours. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 14:47, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- I already updated the article, it kept your other formatting changes. Also you did not remove the format=dms, it was never there (I added it). I guess my caution is that if you remove info from an infobox and put it somewhere else, know if that is standard practice or not. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 14:56, 6 August 2025 (UTC)

Tagging references
[edit]As multiple editors have pointed out above, it would be appreciated if you took the effort to fix simple issues rather than tagging them. For example, you can use WP:REFILL for bare references. An answer from you would also be appreciated, as you don't seem to often reply to criticism directed at you. Kovcszaln6 (talk) 09:44, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- If you look at the user contributions for Citation bot with my username you will see that I do try and fix bare URLs.
- A significant number of the articles that I tag with bare URLs are articles with non-HTML file bare URLs for citations which cannot be fixed by automated tools like reFill and need changing by hand.
- Tagging exists so that editors can work together to clear backlogs of issues, and by inserting the relevant inline bare URL tag, editors can collectively address the issue. It wouldn't be possible for one editor to make the tens of thousands of small fixes necessary. Folkezoft (talk) 10:09, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- I'm a bit confused about your last sentence, as I don't it "wouldn't be possible" to at least use an automated tool to fill bare references while you're already there. I looked through 3 of your recent taggings and reFill could fix all of them (except one reference; [2][3][4]). While I do appreciate your help, Wikipedia has massive backlogs so it would be better if you tried at least automated tools before extending the backlogs. Thanks. Enough citation bot abuse
[edit]Will you just cut it out with the citation bot? The journal names are already added to the "script-journal" parameter, which is intended for non-Latin scripts. Are you just too lazy to check or even read the comments I left, or are you just screwing around at this point?Mazamadao (talk) 04:41, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Folkezoft: Good faith cannot be assumed in case of repeated offense such as yours. I have left edit notes at least twice and there was zero response from you. Instead, you insisted on using the same bot and making the same edit. And now you're using an auto-generated message and demanding expectation of good faith? I don't see any sign of human good faith and accountability here, just attempts of hiding behind bots and templates.Mazamadao (talk) 07:37, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
- Maybe it's time to take this to ANI. --cheesewhisk3rs ≽^•⩊•^≼ ∫ (pester) 15:55, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Mazamadao @Not-cheesewhisk3rs
- I am hoping that won't be necessary. I have looked at the page history for Japanese conjugation and I can see that these edits were caused by running the bot on the category Category:CS1 errors: invisible characters which usually fixes those errors. I can see that @Jay8g has just now done the same. This was accidental and because it was run on a category and not individually on the page, the comments were never seen. There was no bad faith.
- It would seem that there is a simple fix, to remove the invisible characters (which shouldn't be there anyway) from the page so that @Citation bot does not run on that page, and separately to either raise an issue with the maintainers of the bot to recognise the "script-journal" parameter or to change the article to use the journal parameter. I have no view either way.
- I am sorry that using the template to raise the good faith issue has offended you and that wasn't my intention. I would say that this issue does seem to have been raised using language that is a little harsh, but I propose that we move on from that and reset the tone of the conversation going forwards (if any further discussion is needed). Folkezoft (talk) 21:43, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Mazamadao: The templates you are using within citation templates are causing citation errors. Please fix those. As Folkezoft said, people will be less likely to run the bot if the page isn't full of errors. Jay8g [V•T•E] 01:53, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Jay8g: How? Is there another way to use these templates? All I did was to use them per instructions.Mazamadao (talk) 05:35, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Mazamadao: Nesting templates within citation templates tends to be a bad idea. Look for the citations with big red errors and adjust them to fix the errors. Jay8g [V•T•E] 06:02, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Jay8g: So that's what it is. I suspected something went wrong only whenever a template that added links like {{lang}} is nested. The only "fix" I've seen being used is to deconstruct the templates into HTML elements or use that "invoke" thingy, which is, to put it lightly, garbage of the highest order, because it's a nightmare to maintain.Mazamadao (talk) 06:56, 18 August 2025 (UTC)

Thanks for creating this biography for Watson. Give that the only notable contribution seems to be his (long and significant) association with ABBA, and then their tribute bands, WP:BANDMEMBER would suggest that there article should be redirected to ABBA. However, I see the argument for keeping it separate: that there is enough material to warranta separate page, that would be unbalanced if merged. To counter this, much of the information isn't from reliable independent sources. On balance, it seems reasonable to keep.

Warning on AWB edits
[edit]Be very careful about using AWB to make mass changes like this. The guidance when you are approved to use AWB is clear that you are responsible for your own edits and that access will be removed if it is misused. I see you've been given other cautions above about use of citation templates and other issues, so that's why I'm stopping by here after looking into what was going on with your edits.
In this case, the website is not the wikipedia page of the EPA. If you were adding a publisher template item instead, then it would be appropriate to simply list the EPA. I've done large AWB edits before, and if I saw something like that, I wouldn't be just clicking through whatever the automated suggestion was.
Looking at how quickly you are making edits within just one minute and the pace I'm seeing in the last year, I am really concerned that you really aren't spending much time looking at what the edits are. Given that you've only been around about a year and that 80% of your 47k edits since starting an account last year are automated, this is a red flag. @Kovcszaln6 mentioned issues above with you just tagging bare links instead of actually fixing citations. I'm seeing a few recent instances of that still even at my glance. @Not-cheesewhisk3rs alluded to it above, but I have seen cases like yours end up at ANI when people just plow ahead with mass edits like I'm seeing described on your talk page. I mention that because when issues have come up with your quick-paced AWB edits, it seems like you are talking past editors in many cases. Especially within the last month, this does not look like a good trajectory if it continued to be an issue that ended up at ANI. KoA (talk) 15:01, 4 September 2025 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Many Nights A Whisper
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Many Nights A Whisper requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Subst doesn't work in ref tags
[edit]Hello, thanks for your edits. However, in edits like this one to Ariana Grande, you used {{subst:CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{subst:CURRENTYEAR}}}} within a ref tag. Substs don't work within ref tags, so what you've ended up doing is making it so that the tag will be associated with the current month/year forever (e.g. the tag will say September 2026 in a year's time). Instead, please type in the current month and year manually (e.g. September 2025). Thanks. Graham87 (talk) 09:10, 9 September 2025 (UTC)

It would probably be more efficient if you could just correct any more duplicates. (or hold off the template while the article settles down!) JeffUK 20:42, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
