Hello and thanks for your feedback. I have updated the draft removing what I hope is enough of potential peackockery. I do think the article should reflect the uniqueness of the Vmax design and the impact it made at the time, and that Ichijo deserves some recognition for his work. If you still think the draft needs more work, please advice. AndyKnowsAlot (talk) 16:39, 31 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by RangersRus was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Atsushi Ichijo draft

[edit]

Hi 👋 You’ve done some great work on this article, and I’d love to approve it, but it isn’t quite there yet. Too many of the sources are unfortunately either not independent, being from Yamaha or go design, or an interview… the others are mostly too short, or have only a passing mention. Is there any chance you could dig out one or two more independent secondary sources that would prove notability? I’ll check back in a week or two to see how you’re doing, if it hasn’t been approved already, because I would love to see this article go live (I’m part of the Japan WikiProject).

Anyway, good luck and keep up the great work Absurdum4242 (talk) 07:49, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot for your feedback and encouragement! I managed to find some really good additional japanese sources: a long interview on nettam.jp, an in-depth design story on the SRX600 from the yamaha website, the Good Design Award he received in 2009 and also an interesting recent academic paper on wind turbine design. Please take another look when you have the time. AndyKnowsAlot (talk) 21:05, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Andy 👋
just given the draft another look over. Still looking good, but still has the same problem - no amount of added information in the article itself is going to help unless we are able to find sources proving notability. The extra sources you added are unfortunately either interviews (and therefore both primary as opposed to secondary sources, and also not independent), written by Ichijō himself. (In which case, also primary / not independent), published by companies he is working for (so secondary, but not independent), or else mention the bikes he made, but not the man himself (in which case secondary and independent, but not proving notability because not primarily focussed on the subject of the Wikipedia article). Remember as you are searching from now that we need the sources to be independent secondary sources, talking about Ichijo himself, not the bikes he designed… Good luck, and I’ll pop my head back in a week or two 👍 Absurdum4242 (talk) 09:19, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I now found an independent secondary source that I hope might bring it closer to completion - A Motor-Fan profile describing Ichijo that specifically notes that Ichijō is recognized as a 'legend designer' even by rival manufacturers, and documents his participation as keynote speaker in industry events organized by competing companies like Kawasaki. This cross-industry recognition from competitors should demonstrate independent verification of his significance in the field, addressing previous notability concerns.
