Awards - limit to notable awards only?
[edit]This edit to Anna Jermolaewa prompts me to ask whether the |awards=
parameter should be limited to notable awards only? I note that {{infobox person}} limits |awards=
to notable awards. "Notable" here might be determined by the award or the awarding organization having an article (not just a redirect) in mainspace. Of course, usual requirements for verification apply. This would not limit what is listed in the main text of the article, just the infobox. This is just a suggestion. What do others think? — Archer1234 (talk) 18:44, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
- I agree, notable awards only. I appreciate that not all notable awards have articles though. -Lopifalko (talk) 20:06, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
- I disagree with using the word “notable”, only because most readers of the template will understand that to mean notable, and it gives the impression that the award must be bluelinked (or even temporarily redlinked). That is far too high a standard. I would change it to “significant awards” because the current wording, (
Any awards the artist has won
) is far too liberal. — HTGS (talk) 19:37, 29 December 2022 (UTC) - Maybe "significant" - and there will be few of these. Infobox clutter should be avoided fiercely, and awards are not really important for artists. Johnbod (talk) 15:42, 28 March 2023 (UTC)
- Since there is no consensus to limit awards in the infobox to "notable" awards, we will leave it as what the Parameters section of the template documentation already says, which is:
Significant awards the artist has won.
- Thanks. — Archer1234 (t·c) 02:10, 8 April 2023 (UTC)
Include signature

A signature parameter needs to be included in the infobox which can be useful to painters' articles. Michelangelo being one example where the Infobox person is used for lack of the signature option with this template. Kj1595 (talk) 14:23, 28 March 2023 (UTC)
Completed – included were four parameters:
|signature=
,|signature_type=
,|signature_size=
and|signature_alt=

Description of suggested change: I would like please for the infobox to contain a parameter for "years active" and "Collaborated with" (or similar wording, basically a bit like "associated artists" for musical artists). Thank you!

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the
{{Edit template-protected}}
template. Please edit the sandbox to show where these parameters would be rendered. Also, "Collaborated with" is unlikely to obtain support; it's a garbage magnet, like "Associated acts", which is why the latter was removed from Infobox musical artist. – Jonesey95 (talk) 22:44, 15 August 2024 (UTC)

Hello there, I'm hoping to amend the Template:Infobox musical artist to include their Music Publisher's details. Currently they only include Record Label information. Samcarew (talk) 13:59, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Samcarew: Hi, and welcome. Please specify how you would want that to look at Template talk:Infobox musical artist. — Jeff G. ツ 14:43, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hi there,
- I’d like to request a small but factual update to Ed Sheeran’s infobox on his Wikipedia page. Specifically, I would like to add the following line under the musical career section of the infobox:
Publishers: Sony Music Publishing
- This reflects his long-standing relationship with Sony Music Publishing, which has been reported and verified in various reputable sources. Here's a link to one such source confirming this affiliation:
- The infobox already lists his record labels (Asylum, Atlantic, Elektra, Gingerbread Man), so it would be helpful to reflect his publishing arrangement as well — which is standard for many artist pages.
- Please let me know if you need additional sourcing or formatting info. Thanks for your help! Samcarew (talk) 10:24, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
