Welcome Samcarew!

Hello Samcarew. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

If you need further help, you can:
  Ask a question
or you can:

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
  Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
  Help contribute to articles
  Perform maintenance tasks

Become a member of a project that interests you
  Help design new templates
Subscribe and contribute to The Signpost
Translate articles from Wikipedias in other languages

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

Hi again!

[edit]

It's always a pleasure to welcome new editors to this awesome encyclopedia project. I don't know anything about adopting new users, however I'm told that there are some very savvy editors who do that all the time. I'm mainly just a wikignome and try to fly "below the radar". You can find those experienced editors at Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user/Adoptee's Area/Adopters. The Teahouse is also full of answers to any questions you may have. Again, welcome to Wikipedia, an awesome reference project created by Jimmy "Jimbo" Wales. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'r there 13:08, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please use WP:AFC to start a WP:DRAFT, without sufficient sources an article cannot remain in the mainspace. Thank you! 2601:5CC:8300:A7F0:8CE3:2367:E96B:7ADE (talk) 01:14, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, how many sources do you need? Samcarew (talk) 09:31, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As a rule of thumb three WP:SIGCOV, WP:INDEPENDANT, WP:SECONDARY, and WP:RELIABLE sources are needed, with each meeting all four criteria. Situationally it can differ but that is a good starting point. All of this is explained in more detail at WP:GNG. If you use the submit button on a draft after following the instructions on WP:AFC a reviewer will either accept the draft or explain specifically what issues remain to be addressed. 2601:5CC:8300:A7F0:BC64:8303:1267:2029 (talk) 15:31, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

hoping to amend the Infobox

[edit]

Hello there, I'm hoping to amend the Infobox for artists to include their Publishers. Currently they only include Record Label information Samcarew (talk) 13:24, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Samcarew: I'm assuming you're referring to Template:Infobox musical artist? The best place to request an addition would be at its talk page. '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talkcontribs) 13:43, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You're correct the Template:Infobox musical artist. Thanks for the tip - I will reach out other there Samcarew (talk) 13:56, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Music Publisher

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm LaffyTaffer. Thank you for your your recent contributions. I noticed that you included a source in the edit summary of one of your edits to Charli XCX. While it's great that you're providing sources, it's important that they're included in the article itself using inline citations. This helps readers and other editors easily verify the information for themselves. If you're not sure how to do that, you may find the guide on referencing for beginners helpful. Thank you. Taffer😊💬(she/they) 15:21, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you @LaffyTaffer, that's super kind of you to mention. I see you recently edited Sabrina Carpenter page too. Her publisher is Universal Music Publishing Group. How would you edit it?
Universal Music Publishing Group signs platinum singer/songwriter Sabrina Carpenter to exclusive, worldwide publishing agreement Samcarew (talk) 18:16, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think the way you did it for Charli XCX is fine, and if you take a look at how I added your source here, you can mimic that for the most basic version of an inline citation: <ref>http://www.website.com</ref> Hope that helps! Taffer😊💬(she/they) 18:27, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You're a star! Thank you so much Samcarew (talk) 18:44, 21 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
