Where can I read journals on New York state law in particular?

[edit]

I shouldn't have to say that I don't want to use Wikipedia for legal advice. However, I do want to learn about state politics, and that means finding relevant authors, journals, and databases. Can you help? Shushimnotrealstooge (talk) 02:51, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Try the New York State Library. Bearian (talk) 03:01, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This has been unreferenced for at least 15 years. I can't find anything either official or significant. Can somebody please add reliable sources to this article? Bearian (talk) 03:00, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Photo request for anyone near Syracuse

[edit]

The Rosamond Gifford Zoo recently acquired a Marco Polo sheep named Tilek. This is a rare subspecies and as far as I am aware, we have no photos of a living one. I would greatly appreciate if someone near Syracuse could photograph this animal for the page. ArtemisiaGentileschiFan (talk) 05:05, 16 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Publishing New York State Content on GovDirectory for WikiConference North America?

[edit]

Hi, the WikiProject GovDirectory is hoping to publish some US content in time for WikiConference North America coming up in mid October. New York State is one of the few U.S. states that's had some active development for GovDirectory. With a bit of a push, this content could be ready to include on GovDirectory for the Conference. To learn more, see the GovDirectory New York project page.

While GovDirectory is mainly a WikiData project, if you're more focused on Wikipedia, updating the Category:State agencies of New York (state) and/or creating a list article (which can include agencies without Wikipedia pages) would also be very helpful to the project. Please add reliable sources to this article. Bearian (talk) 02:57, 24 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I did it myself. Bearian (talk) 03:42, 17 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question -- Is there another article this one can be redirected to? ---------User:DanTD (talk) 04:25, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I found a decent article on the school so I cancelled the deletion. The article still needs a lot of work. - Wil540 art (talk) 18:01, 29 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Disjointed West Sayville, New York image

[edit]

An edit from 2022 made by User:BrownHairedGirl seems to have permanently dislocated an image in the article on West Sayville, New York, and nothing I've been able to do has reversed this error. I was about to contact her on this, only to find out she was Semi-Retired from Wikipedia. I don't believe the edit was malicious or even intentional. Can anybody else fix this, because putting the image back in its proper place has been proven to be an exceptional pain in the ass. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 12:38, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It has been fixed. Bearian (talk) 03:43, 17 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

New York gubernatorial election voting data by county

[edit]

Hello, WikiProject New York. I recently compiled an exhaustive list of Wikipedia pages pertaining to United States gubernatorial elections which need tables detailing general election voting statistics by county. If anyone wants to help out with this task of adding stat tables, I'd gladly welcome the assistance. Here is the New York list, and all 49 other states have their own likewise lists on that page. Thank you. Mungo Kitsch (talk) 22:23, 4 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion about WikiProject banner templates

[edit]

For WikiProjects that participate in rating articles, the banners for talk pages usually say something like:

There is a proposal to change the default wording on the banners to say "priority" instead of "importance". This could affect the template for your group. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council#Proposal to update wording on WikiProject banners.
