Antonio Inares Inquirer astroturf
[edit]Admittedly I'm late to flag this, but should we consider news articles published under the supposed Antonio Inares of Philippine Daily Inquirer unreliable or the very least useless in establishing WP:GNG. Rappler has noted on how this particular person's news article seems to astroturfing for the certain politicians. Should this be raised in WP:RSN? The problem this is mostly hearsay. Aside from the blind item-y shade from Rappler. We do not have anything to support this beside some Reddit posts. Hariboneagle927 (talk) 15:42, 24 August 2025 (UTC)
- Dandy Midtimbang Ferenal, a nominee of Banat Barangay Natin, could pass WP:GNG based on that write-up. WP:AGF, but hasn't PDI stopped publishing newspapers since June 30 and is now exclusively online? Howard the Duck (talk) 15:52, 24 August 2025 (UTC)
- Assume good faith is for editors, not third-party authors outside Wikipedia (especially an author who may possibly not exist). I'm not sure if PDI has stopped publishing paper broadsheets. Every article published by that author is suspect imo, not just about Ferenal that includes Bong Go, Loren Legarda, Joy Belmonte, Francis Tolentino and the Villar family. That's at least 477 articles worth of possible astroturfing by "Antonio Inares". Regardless, its possibly not actionable but I will personally avoid using articles from this specific author. Hariboneagle927 (talk) 09:46, 25 August 2025 (UTC)
- Changes in WP:RSN status is mostly due to change in ownership; PDI no longer on print, may either be a sign of an ownership decision, or a change in ownership. The people you have mentioned already are notable. AI's articles can only be risky if it is used in proving WP:GNG coverage.
- I'd also back off from using AI's articles, but not everyone may think the same way. Howard the Duck (talk) 11:26, 25 August 2025 (UTC)
- Per the publication,
The Philippine Daily Inquirer, published by Inquirer Interactive Inc., continues its print circulation[.]
- Additionally, I bought a print copy of the Philippine Daily Inquirer yesterday in a convenience store somewhere in Metro Manila along with the print editions of the Philippine Star and The Manila Times as proof that they are still publishing paper broadsheets (proof here). That being said, I'm less inclined to use pieces with Mr. Inares' byline as a reference. -Ian Lopez @ 12:19, 31 August 2025 (UTC)

Infobox image used in Manuel Roxas
[edit]I've been seeing an IP user trying to change the infobox image of the president with a vague edit summary of "updated the infobox pic". Imho, the 1946 Hessler portrait represents the subject very clearly as the face is clearly visible and the fact that it is a professional studio photograph. The one the IP is trying to replace seemed to be of a poor scan of an image (i.e. being blurry despite the higher resolution). I don't know what's being "updated" here aside from replacing a historical photo with another historical photo. AsianStuff03 (talk) 01:36, 30 August 2025 (UTC)
- Kinda reminds me of a previous sockpuppet incident with a similar MO that began in December 2024. See:
- The last suspected sockpuppet reported was last August 8. So far, the IP user has edited Cavite and Manuel Roxas with the signature "updated/changed the infobox pic" edit summary. I'm thinking that this may be another sockuppeteer for this user. AstrooKai (Talk) 01:49, 30 August 2025 (UTC)

- He is back again. He isn't gonna talk anytime soon to justify his changes beyond "updating the infobox". The problem is he seem to found a loophole by exploiting the dynamic IP address of his internet provider.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 03:14, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
- If an SPI is not filed, someone should post on the talkpage explaining the rationale for the 1946 portrait. After that, semi-protection can be sought. CMD (talk) 07:03, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
- Just filed a sockpuppet investigation against the user. It's not just the Manuel Roxas article, the IP is also "updating" infobox images in Caloocan and Makati. AsianStuff03 (talk) 08:29, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
- Did a quick lookup on those PLDT IPs and damn, this person is everywhere.

- If only this person actually tries explaining their edits. Some of their changes are actually okay like in Cavite. But this user is still being stubborn and hides their questionable/dubious edits under "updating the infobox™" like they did in Caloocan.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 13:20, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- Edit filter for this guy when? Blake Gripling (talk) 02:12, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- The sockpuppet investigation was formally closed but lets still keep an eye with the updating the infobox edits. Hariboneagle927 (talk) 08:31, 11 September 2025 (UTC)

Request for help: Draft:Andok's declined for heavy reliance on primary sources
[edit]Hi! Draft:Andok's keeps getting declined because reviewers say it relies heavily on the company website and other primary sources. Andok’s is well known nationwide, and I need help finding independent sources I can use to replace or support company claims. Please drop links and, if you can, note which sentence in the draft the source verifies. You may edit the draft directly if you prefer. Thank you! JETH888 (message) 08:50, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
PBA season 50 first round pick draft articles
[edit]I have set up draft articles for some of the players who were picked in the first round of the PBA season 50 draft: Geo Chiu, Dalph Panopio, Chris Koon, Ljay Gonzales, and Yukien Andrada.
The Chiu and Ljay drafts already have some information added and any help will be much appreciated. MarcusAbacus (talk) 14:29, 9 September 2025 (UTC)
Presidential portraits
[edit]I notice there has been an edit war(?) about infoboxes on presidents. What is our policy on these. From what I understand that live photos are preferable and the "official portraits" we see online while recognizable tend to be commissioned works with dubious copyright status. - You could put this request in the De-stubbing task force since it is a stub. Maybe one of the other members can help de-stub and add sources here. You can also join us and help us add sources to articles like these. D-Flo27 (talk) 05:24, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
