Sourcing the St. John's Bridge in media

[edit]

On the page for St. John's Bridge, I had put in two items about how it appears in a book and a TV show. You reverted it as unsourced. What would be needed as sources so it could be put back in?

There's maps in the books that show the Ghost Bridge physically matches it and shows its location where the actual bridge is located on the Willamette River, plus it's featured in promotional artwork for the upcoming film by Laika. As for the TV series, it appears in many of the episodes.

Let me know. Thanks. --RRabbit42 (talk) 18:16, 10 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi RRabbit42, as explained at MOS:POPCULT: "Cultural aspects of the subject should be included only if they are supported by reliable secondary or tertiary sources that discuss the subject's cultural impact in some depth. The mere appearance of the subject in a film, song, video game, television show, or the like is insufficient." The fact that the bridge simply appears in a piece of media is not considered sufficient reason to start an "in popular culture" section. If you can find secondary sources that discuss the use of the bridge in the book/TV show you mentioned, feel free to restore the material (promotional artwork from the studio is not a secondary source, to be clear). Let me know if you have any questions. Zeibgeist (talk) 18:44, 10 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to The Greenbrier Companies. When you were adding content to the page, you added duplicate arguments to a template which can cause issues with how the template is rendered. In the future, please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find these errors as they will display in yellow at the top of the page. Thanks. Please Add to this article it is significantly lacking i am a student at this school and I would like a better article Kiba827 (talk) 02:56, 9 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'd recommend you do it yourself, but seeing as how you seem to lack the ability to write with proper capitalization and punctuation I'm not sure that would be a good idea. Is there any specific information you think is missing? Zeibgeist (talk) 03:04, 9 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up (curtesy link)

[edit]

We recently discussed using the {{Improve images}} template (re: Susan Kare article photo), and along similar lines, I thought this might be of interest to you too: c:Commons:Permission requests (same issue, another approach). Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 06:51, 16 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cl3phact0, thanks for your message. I'm familiar with the permission requests process on Commons. Is there any specific reason you mention it? Zeibgeist (talk) 06:55, 16 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, nothing beyond the context of the brief exchange we had here. From the Talk page of the project itself, I was under the impression that it was a relatively new, little known initiative. -- Cl3phact0 (talk) 07:05, 16 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
After checking the c:Commons:Permission requests page again, I see that I was mixing it up with something else! Thanks for mentioning it, I'll keep that process in mind for future reference. Zeibgeist (talk) 07:19, 16 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
