Template:Improve images

This template indicates that the article needs additional or more specific images. If placed on an article in the category "living people" it also invites the article subject to submit a photograph of themselves, directing them to Wikipedia:A picture of you.

This template is intended for article space, and may be placed at the top or at the bottom of the page. Place it at the top when you feel the lack of images is urgent; place it at the bottom if you feel a top placement would draw undue attention to the article's image status. Either way, placing this template adds the article to the Category:Articles needing additional images category (or one of its subcategories, see |date= below), where editors go to find articles in need of improvements related to images.

Use this template both for when the article needs more images, more specific images, and when the article needs better images (acknowledging that the article already contain a sufficient number of images).^[a] If the article currently has no images, consider using {{Image requested}} instead.

If the template is placed on the biography of a living person, it will display the additional text:

If this article is about you (or someone that you can photograph), Wikipedia wants your picture, and you are welcome to submit your work.

Parameters

• |talk= If there is an existing discussion on the article's talk page, you can link directly to the discussion using |talk=Discussion name. Note: supply the talk section header directly; the linking is made automatically. If you omit this parameter, the talk page is linked to in general, unless placed on a page in the category "living people", in which case the invitation replaces the general talk link (but not any specific link supplied by including this parameter)
• |type= The text you supply for this parameter gets added just before the word "images", so you can have the template say "This article needs clearer images" by supplying |type=clearer
• |reason= can be used to provide clarification on the request. This text gets appended to the end of the template

This template also includes standard support for the |date= parameter. Adding this parameter sorts the article into a dated subcategory of Category:Articles needing additional images and out of the parent category, allowing the oldest problems to be identified and dealt with first. A bot will add this parameter if it is omitted.
