Information icon Please do not introduce links to draft articles in actual articles, as you did to Fellsmere, Florida. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been removed. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 15:54, 14 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Fellsmere, Florida, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Per MOS:DRAFTNOLINK, do not link to Draft space from articles. You were told once not to do so, but you did it again. Donald Albury 16:49, 14 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of GoLine

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on GoLine requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Emily.Owl (talk) 15:03, 10 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have deleted this page. Please do not create blank pages in the main article space. If you want to start a new page but intend to only work on it later, develop it in your own user space or in the draft name space. Thanks, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 15:12, 10 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Here are two examples: [1][2]. Thank you. fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four (talk) 15:40, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. I did not realize that was an non credible source. Also the plaque, that sentence is unnecessary. Thanks. WeatheredAviation (talk) 15:50, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Its not just credibility. The plaque was not mentioned in the source at all as far as I could tell. Same for the "main transit terminal" claim, its absent from the accompanying source. fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four (talk) 15:54, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It does mention the transit hub, as stated, it was relocated to its current location. It says explicitly in the article. WeatheredAviation (talk) 16:03, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The citation that accompanied "It is also home to the main transit terminal." is here the modern page makes no reference to that information, nor does it contain any of "vera", "main", "transit", or "terminal". The archived version from 2017 here does not mention Vera Beach, only Indian River County of which Vera Beach is but a part. Please let me know if I've confused anything and I'll do my best to correct it. fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four (talk) 16:15, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Seriously… I visited there and the transit hub is in fact in Vero Beach. You do not need to get picky. On google maps you could look up where the IRC Go Line main transit hub is. The vero beach city limits literally include the hub. Fine, I can add a new source for goodness sake. WeatheredAviation (talk) 17:23, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Its not that I don't believe you, I do! But a core policy of Wikipedia is verifiability, which necessitates the use of reliable sources, personal knowledge and experience is original research and does not meet the bar for verifiability. Thank you. fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four (talk) 17:32, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay thats fine then. Thank you for implementing this policy. WeatheredAviation (talk) 17:39, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Highway abbreviations

[edit]

Regarding this edit, please revert yourself and restore the abbreviation to the text.

It is standard practice in highway articles to introduce the abbreviation for a highway name after first usage of the full name. We cannot and do not assume that our readers know that "State Road 607" = "SR 607". The abbreviation is in use in the junction list, so we need to introduce that convention to our readers. It's also standard to only introduce the convention once on first mention of any highway of the same class. By that, I mean we only have to spell out "Interstate 95 (I-95)" once on the first mention of any Interstate, so if in the next sentence we can have just "I-75" without needing to spell out "Interstate 75". First mention of any US Highway or state road? Spell out the name in full and follow it with the abbreviation, then you're free to abbreviate all other US Highways or state roads. If the article is about a county road, you only have to mention the abbreviation in the lead sentence and not for any other county road but he same principle. (Also, please note that per MOS:BOLD, we wrap the full name in bold in the lead sentence, and we wrap the abbreviation in bold, but not the parentheses. It's a fussy thing, but the correct thing to do.) Imzadi 1979  14:40, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for explaining to me how the system works. I was a bit confused at first. Given your experience, I am thankful for your contributions to my articles so they can be put up to pristine standard. Thanks again. WeatheredAviation (talk) 15:58, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Creating new county road articles

[edit]

You've been creating new articles on county roads in Indian River County, Florida. Most of these topics have a redirect that currently exists at the correct title name. You've instead been creating new articles at incorrect titles. Instead, you should edit the redirect to replace it with your new article.

For example, instead of creating County Road 505 (Indian River County, FL), you should go to County Road 505 (Indian River County, Florida). That link will redirect you to List of county roads in Indian River County, Florida#CR 505, but then if you scroll up to the top of that article, you'd see the notice: "(Redirected from County Road 505 (Indian River County, Florida))". Click the link there and then edit the redirect to start writing.

{{Jct}} and and various other templates will not link to non-standard titles. They will expect the title to be of the proper form to link to the correct topic. Creating articles at the wrong titles also means they'll be an orphan. Creating them at the wrong titles means that someone else needs to come behind you to tag the redirects for deletion so that the articles can be moved to the correct titles. Imzadi 1979  05:31, 17 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

How can I assist you best to create new articles at the proper titles? Imzadi 1979  20:49, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it will not let me create the article. However, if I have an improper name but then move it, that works. Often, there are random spaces with redirects that are impossible to find. WeatheredAviation (talk) 20:51, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I understand now. WeatheredAviation (talk) 20:52, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Every one of these county roads in Indian River County has a redirect in place. Most of them point to List of county roads in Indian River County, Florida, so that the links created by {{jct}} in a junction list point somewhere. Unless the county adds a brand new designation that has never existed, you won't be able to create a new article at the correct title.
You can edit the redirects and turn then into articles one by one. In the case of CR 615, there's an old version of an article in the history of that redirect, and really that history should be preserved. Creating them at non-standard titles is making more work for other people to try to clean up your work.
So again, how can I help you to do things right the first time and be more self-sufficient? Imzadi 1979  21:08, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So I do have a question. Should I add this article to the redirect page? There is a request for speedy deletion made on it. WeatheredAviation (talk) 21:13, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes and no. I tagged the redirect for deletion, so we should wait for an admin to act on the request. I'd like to find one who will merge the history of the two pages together in the end, which is the best outcome.
Your next article though, please just make an edit on a redirect to start the article so we preserve everything properly. Imzadi 1979  21:23, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. So we just wait? WeatheredAviation (talk) 21:26, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Here's another tip that will help you. Whenever you use {{jct}} to link to a county road, please remember to include which county it is in with |county1=Indian River. (The number in the parameter name refers to the order in which it appears, like how |to1= and |to2= work.) If there are two county roads in the same template, each needs to be defined. Then the link will point to the right place. Imzadi 1979  18:11, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Headings

[edit]

You may not know this already. When we create a heading in an article, our Manual of Style says at MOS:HEAD that the heading text should be in sentence case, not title case. This means that of the standard headings we use on road articles, the one should be "Route description" with a lower case "d" on "description", not a capital letter there. It also means that the other standard heading should be "Major intersections" should not have a capital letter on "intersections".

You can also consult WP:USRD/STDS for other standards on writing and formatting highway articles for the US. Imzadi 1979  20:58, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Article

[edit]

https://www.tcpalm.com/story/opinion/columnists/laurence-reisman/2025/04/10/time-to-tell-indian-river-county-what-main-road-needs-are/82787873007/ in the CR 615 article is an unhelpful source/link to use. It requires a reader to be a subscriber, so it really needs |url-access=subscription added to the citation template, and someone who does subscribe needs to replace the details in the citation (author, date, title, etc.).
