Hi Tlupick! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Johann Hari several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.
All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Johann Hari, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Cordless Larry (talk) 19:24, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hello Cordless Larry. Thank you for taking the time to write me about this. I'm relatively new to Wikipedia editing, and this is the first time I've had someone disagree with one of my edits. I have shared some of my concerns about Hari's page at Talk:Johann Hari, but I can be more specific, and I will try again. Thanks for your time. Tlupick (talk) 21:03, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Johann Hari
[edit]Hi Tlupick, your Wikipedia editing focuses heavily on the Johann Hari article. Do you have any Wikipedia:Conflict of interest on this subject? cagliost (talk) 22:19, 5 September 2025 (UTC)
- No. No conflict. Tlupick (talk) 22:06, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
- I note he provided a blurb for your book "Fighting for space". cagliost (talk) 20:03, 20 September 2025 (UTC)
Hi Tlupick! I noticed that you've made several edits in order to restore your preferred version of an article. The impulse to repeatedly undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure that you're aware of Wikipedia's edit warring policy. Repeatedly undoing the changes made by other users in a back-and-forth fashion like this is disallowed, even if you feel what you're doing is justifiable.
All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages in order to try to reach a consensus with the other editors involved. If you are unable to come to an agreement, please use one of the dispute resolution options that are available in order to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of repeatedly reverting other editors' changes can help you avoid getting drawn into edit wars. Thank you.Dan Murphy (talk) 03:35, 2 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Dan Murphy With respect, you enacted a major page revision, undoing all edits made over the preceeding 6-8 months. You did that without any stated justification or discussion on the Talk page. There is obvious disagreement over this major revision of the page. I am simply asking for the issue to be explained and discussed on the Talk page before being enacted. Thank you for your time. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war, according to the reverts you've made to Johann Hari. This means that you are repeatedly reverting content back to how you think it should be, despite knowing that other editors disagree. Once it is known that there is a disagreement, users are expected to collaborate with others, avoid editing disruptively, and try to reach a consensus – rather than repeatedly reverting the changes made by other users.
Important points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive behavior – regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not engage in edit warring – even if you believe that you are right.
You need to discuss the disagreement on the article's talk page and work towards a revision that represents consensus among everyone involved. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution if discussions reach an impasse. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to engage in edit warring, you may be blocked from editing. You obviously do not have consensus for your preferred version, and Wikilawering on the talk page is not an excuse to edit war. Grayfell (talk) 00:25, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
