Need some admin assistance
[edit]Dear @Larry, I could use your assistance with the behavior of @User:Wieditor25. On the page Oromo language he keeps removing (including the supporting sources) an alternative pejorative name for the language that has been used until well into the late 20th century for the language in the academic literature. As I usually do when this happens (it happens a lot), I reverted the first edit and made them aware of the lengthy discussion on the talk page on that issue. But the editor did not engage in that discussion, but reverted a second time. Following that I reverted once more on the next day and placed a warning on the editor's talk page, using RW with comment. The editor ignored this and reverted again, once more not engaging with the content of the article talk page. I placed a second RW warning on the editor's talk page, and the intervention of a third editor sparked a bit of a discussion, where Wieditor25 basically contributed that he is so offended by the term that "I would rather face sanctions or even lose my account than stand by and watch hateful content directed at 60 million people." Accordingly, when I restored the content once more today, he reverted within five minutes, again including the supporting sources. My view on this is that Wieditor25 engages in censoring the Oromo page, and that they are not willing or able to discuss the reasons why the offending term needs to be placed in the article lead. I believe that they are inexperienced and act in good faith, and therefore hope that an administrator's warning may get them to understand that they are in a serious breach of Wiki policies. Thanks for any help you can give in that matter! LandLing 13:40, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Cordless Larry, please refer to this article's talk page as well as this editor's talk page to have a better understanding of the term this editor trying to promote.Wieditor25 (talk) 13:48, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- Wieditor25, please cease edit warring and put your case in the discussion that Landroving Linguist has started at Talk:Oromo language#A not so short summary on why it is necessary to include the old pejorative name of Oromo in the lead section. Cordless Larry (talk) 15:28, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
