Lijil Thank you so much for the kind words and for reviewing my article 😊 I'm truly excited to see it accepted and rated C-Class that means a lot to me as a new contributor.
I'll definitely take a look at the grading scheme and work on improving it further. Thanks again ...awww am so happy. blessed. cheers. 🐍 Thilio🤖 19:27, 6 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Great!! You might want to join a WikiProject like WP:WikiProject Women Artists or WP:WikiProject Women in red - WikiProjects can be really good places to learn more and to meet people interested in similar topics to you. You don't necessarily have to "join" (which you usually do just by adding your username to a list of Participants) you can just read the articles and discussions they have. And yes, understanding the grading system can also help figure out how to improve an article - for instance you could try to revise this article up to Good Article standard, then you'll get a thorough review that can really help improve it too. Good luck and feel free to ask me if you have questions and I'll try to help! Lijil (talk) 08:37, 7 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Help with new article

[edit]

Hello @thilio

Thank you for offering yourself as a helper for my new article. I'm new to wikipedia, and I know there are so many guidelines to follow. I've been working on this article and got it rejected a couple times and reworked it. I'm looking for some sincere help, and constructive feedback. I'm very open to make any changes needed

Here it is: Draft:Staycation (TV series)

Jake Silvia Racing

[edit]

Hello, @Thilio

I understand there is some misunderstanding about my Jake Silvia Racing page. It is a real team, yes we are a small team but we are real. If you could provide me with feedback on how to improve my page or update me on guidelines that would be great but rest assured we are a real team from Rhode Island. Denado1 (talk) 02:15, 15 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Denado1 Since you are directly connected to (Draft:Jake Silvia Racing) please take a look at Wikipedia’s guidance here (Conflict of Interest (COI)). It’s usually better for people with a close connection to a topic to suggest changes on the talk page rather than editing directly to help keep things neutral.
For the draft to move forward it will need (independent, reliable references) that give significant coverage of the team. Primary sources like your website or social media don’t carry much weight on Wikipedia. Please I suggest you to see referencing guide its explains how to add citations properly and what kinds of sources are best.
Improving your draft with solid third party sources will give it a better chance of being accepted when it’s eventually submitted for review. 🐍 Thilio🤖 07:18, 15 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, what would I do if I happen to not find anything online as we are a very small team in the Northeast? Brand exposure is very important in our racing scene and this was one of the things on our list... Who would you suggest make the page and what should my next steps be? Denado1 (talk) 21:09, 17 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Denado1 The first things that popped up when I searched for Jake Silvia Racing in search engines were Facebook, Instagram & some self-published websites like DriverDB.
As you said, Brand exposure is very important in our racing scene and this was one of the things on our list. The first step I suggest is to focus on online exposure through local or verified interviews (e.g BBC News or other reliable local news outlets). After that collect all your references.
Before doing anything further, make sure you read and fully understand Conflict of Interest. Then work on your sandbox and ask any editor to help you move it into the mainspace. 🐍 Thilio🤖 06:59, 18 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for Recommendations

[edit]

Hi Thilio,

Thanks for your comment on the Teahouse today. I read your profile and am really impressed by the different groups that you're a part of. I even added myself to the Feedback Request Service group.

My primary aim to come to Wikipedia has been to fight Vandalism. I see you have a lot of userboxes, stating you use Twinkle, and that you're part of SVT, among many other things.

As a newcomer, I was wondering if you have any recommendations/suggestions for me about how and where to begin so that I can contribute to antivandalism effectively.

Looking forward to your suggestions! Kingsacrificer (talk) 11:21, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Kingsacrificer Thanks a lot for your kind message and welcome again! It’s great to hear that you are interested in contributing to anti-vandalism work, that’s one of the most valuable things new editors can do and it’s always encouraging to see more people joining it.
Here's few suggestions to get started...
A good place to begin is the Recent changes feed you can keep an eye out for obvious vandalism (nonsense, bad faith edits and so on) and revert it. Also since you mentioned Twinkle that’s a great start. It makes reverting and warning editors much easier.
Learn common warning levels: Wikipedia uses a system of escalating warnings for vandalism (from level 1 to 4). Twinkle can handle these automatically but it’s good to understand what each level means. If you come across persistent vandals you can report them at Administrator intervention against vandalism.
Sometimes it’s easy to get frustrated at repeated vandalism but keeping communication polite and assuming good faith when possible helps a lot.
If you’d like to practice you might find the Counter-Vandalism Academy helpful. It’s a guided place where you can learn step by step. Feel free to ping me anytime if you’d like feedback on your antivandalism work. happy editing! ThilioR O B O T🤖 talk 11:59, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the detailed response. I checked all the sources you mentioned.
I went to the Recent changes feed. Seems like there is an active bot that does most of the 'reverting' for cases of obvious vandalism. I scoured through the list, found only one instance worth reverting (wouldn't even call it obvious vandalism but it was an unnecessary change) and reverted it.
I tried enabling Twinkle but I'm not autoconfirmed as my account is only 2 days old. I also checked the WP:Antivandal tool, but it seems to have the same restriction. I will look into both the tools soon.
The CVA sounds like a very good opportunity, but it recommends that a user makes atleast 200 edits before teaming up with a trainer. I have only made around 100 edits, and a lot of them are talk page edits as well so I don't know if they count.
Anyways, will keep in touch!
Thanks a lot for your guidance Kingsacrificer (talk) 13:01, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Cheating in online chess

[edit]

Hi, you reverted a valid edit by me. It is mathematically impossible to calculate how many cheaters are actually present on online chess platforms. This is often a paradox that people do not understand. Because chess.com has banned 0,3% of players, does not mean that only 0,3% of players are cheaters. It means that only 0,3% of players have been detected of cheating. This number is an absolute minimum percentage of cheaters on Chess.com. No mathematical way exists to calculate this, so I am not sure how a reliable source is needed here. 2001:2042:2A80:7A00:79E9:4E7F:443A:E298 (talk) 15:45, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please if you want to keep this addition in the article you need to provide a reliable source to support it. Wikipedia content must be verifiable so personal analysis or original calculations aren’t allowed. Please either add a citation or see the Wikipedia:Verifiability guide for best practices.
