Speedy deletion nomination of Here Jabo Jani
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Here Jabo Jani requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Thanks for your contributions to Manas Roy. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Whpq (talk) 13:24, 14 April 2025 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Manas Roy, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Wikipedia's guideline on conflict of interest
[edit] Hello, Stitchall. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. JBW (talk) 15:10, 14 April 2025 (UTC)

Please stop. If you continue to add promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. Almost all of us, when we start editing Wikipedia, know little or nothing about Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, so nobody can be blamed for starting out doing things that are contrary to policies and guidelines that they don't know about. However, continuing to do the same things after being told about the relevant policies and guidelines is a different matter.JBW (talk) 19:48, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- Is adding an artist info promotional? or what is exactly promotional in the page? I can remove that, its basically for information purpose. I have refined it so there are no promotional stuffs remaining. Also do I need to add more sources to make it valid? Stitchall (talk) 20:14, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- If you can repeatedly create pages full of language such as "He has emerged as a distinctive voice in the independent music scene through his emotionally driven songwriting, experimental production style, and powerful vocal delivery", etc etc etc... and really honestly not understand how it's promotional, then it's unlikely that you will ever be able to edit in the way required for a Wikipedia article. 21:50, 14 April 2025 (UTC)

Request reason:
I talked to an expert regarding my page and I go to know about my mistakes and I'm fully aware now what changes I would have to make, as I lacked the sources of the statements I made. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience caused and I'm not gonna post untill I collect the reliable sources (as mentioned in the wiki's guide). I'll then add a draft not now. Please keep me unblocked for this last time if I make any draft without those changes you can block me indefinitely then. Stitchall (talk) 22:04, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
Accept reason:
I have unblocked you on the basis of your assurances below about your future editing intentions. JBW (talk) 14:17, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- What expert is that? Where? What makes them an expert?-- Deepfriedokra (talk) 22:28, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- I talked to a person on https://libera.chat/ (Suggested by wiki itself) and he/she told me about the missing reliable sources. As my page was drafted poorly without reliable sources. Also what are the promotional contents that needs to be removed. So I'll firstly collect all the reliable sources only then I'm gonna draft any page, or else I'm not gonna touch a thing over here, but please let me keep my account as a last chance. Stitchall (talk) 22:35, 14 April 2025 (UTC)

- You took a very professional looking image of Manas Roy and claim to personally hold the copyright to it. What is your connection to him? 331dot (talk) 08:32, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- I am both the photographer and the subject of the image and have uploaded it under my own copyright. Stitchall (talk) 08:49, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- Since you are Manas Roy, be aware of the autobiography policy; though not absolutely forbidden, it's highly discouraged for people to write about themselves(or their work). Wikipedia is not a place for people to tell the world about themselves, it's a place to summarize what independent reliable sources choose on their own to say about (in this case) a person, showing how they meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable person, or in your case more narrowly a notable musician. It's usually very, very difficult for people to write about themselves as Wikipedia demands. People naturally write favorably about themselves, and Wikipedia tries to have a neutral point of view. To succeed, you would need to set aside everything you know about yourself and all materials you put out, and only write based on the content of independent sources. In my many years here, I have personally never seen someone succeed at writing about themselves, though it's probably happened- the point is that it is very rare. Are you the rare person out of the 8 billion on this planet who can succeed at it? Possibly, but the odds are against it.
- To make a long story short, is there anything you want to edit about other than yourself? 331dot (talk) 08:55, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- I get your point, and will let it handle to the professionals after having independent reliable sources of the contents, and not personal known details. Also actually I'm new here hence I made a blunder which led me to get blocked, and I do take that responsibility fully so after understanding the norms I am learning about editing wikipedia pages and I would like to have my access as editor so I can make small edits and learn on the way to more advance editing. Stitchall (talk) 09:05, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- What topics might you edit about? Would you specifically agree to not edit about yourself and your work? 331dot (talk) 09:11, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, I completely understand, and I agree not to edit about myself or my own work. I now recognize the importance of neutrality and avoiding conflict of interest, and I will fully respect that going forward.
- As for topics I’d like to edit, I’m interested in contributing to articles related to Indian music, regional art forms, and media — especially topics that don’t get much coverage but deserve better documentation. I’d also be happy to work on copy-editing, adding references, and improving formatting across various articles as I learn. Stitchall (talk) 09:13, 15 April 2025 (UTC)

- Thanks, Manas. I think what you have said covers the reason for the block, so I shall remove the block. I hope you will be able to avoid encountering similar problems again. Below, I am posting links to various pages which may help you to learn what kinds of things are considered acceptable. Some of them are official Wikipedia policies and guidelines, some are pages of information which experienced editors have put together to help new editors. Don't try to read and learn everything there before you do any more editing, because there's far too much to take in all at once, but have a look and see whether there's anything there that may be helpful to you. (And of course you can come back to read other parts if they become relevant to your needs in the future.)
- Two pieces of advice.
- My advice to new editors is that it is best to start by making small improvements to existing articles, rather than doing bigger things, such as creating new articles. That way any mistakes you make will be small ones, and you won't have the discouraging experience of repeatedly seeing hours of work deleted. Gradually, you will get to learn how Wikipedia works, and after a while you will know enough about what is acceptable to be able to write whole new articles without fear that they will be deleted. Over the years I have found that editors who start by making small changes to existing articles and work up from there have a far better chance of having a successful time here than those who jump right into creating new articles from the start.
- The kind of things you wrote about yourself would be absolutely fine to put on your own website if you have one, or on Facebook or another social media site. It was all about publicising yourself and giving readers a good impression of yourself, which is one of the purposes those sites can provide. However, Wikipedia is different; we aim to have content which is written from a neutral point of view, as seen by independent, third party, observers. JBW (talk) 14:13, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
