Welcome to the clerk team!
[edit]Hi Sennecaster. We have added you to the list of clerks and subscribed you to the mailing list (info: WP:AC/C#clerks-l). Welcome, and I look forward to working with you! To adjust your subscription options for the mailing list, see the link at mail:clerks-l. The mailing list works in the usual way, and the address to which new mailing list threads can be sent is clerks-l
lists.wikimedia.org. Useful reading for new clerks is the procedures page, WP:AC/CP, but you will learn all the basic components of clerking on-the-job.
New clerks begin as a trainee, are listed as such at WP:AC/C#Personnel, and will remain so until they have learned all the aspects of the job. When you've finished training, which usually takes a few months (and a maximum of one year), then we'll propose to the Committee that you be made a full clerk. As a clerk, you'll need to check your e-mail regularly, as the mailing list is where the clerks co-ordinate (a on-wiki clerks' noticeboard also exists but is not used nearly as much). If you've any questions at any point of your traineeship, simply post to the mailing list.
Lastly, it might be useful if you enter your timezone into WP:AC/C#Personnel (in the same format as the other members have), so that we can estimate when we will have clerks available each day; this is, of course, at your discretion. Again, welcome! Regards, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 20:51, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
Request for copyvio assistance
[edit]Hey @Sennecaster, I hope you're doing well. I'd love for your assistance on a potential copyvio issue, involving an article that was recently carried from draftspace (Aramaization of Assyria). After looking more in depth into its sourcing, I noticed a plethora of issues:
- The vast majority of citations are copyvios; the text is either rewritten slightly or copied in some sentences exactly from their sourcing
- Some citations do not support the content found in the sources
- There are areas in the article where there appears to be AI-generated content
- Individual contribution history of the user who published the article indicates that this draft was published with anti-Assyrian motivations in mind. This is specifically alongside WP:GS/ACAS, of which I'm a participant
It also seems as though there's another copyvio issue here by the same user [1] [2]. I'd like to know how to proceed from here as I've never dealt with copyvio issues before and I was confused on where to start. Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated. Surayeproject3 (talk) 12:06, 1 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Surayeproject3, seen and acknowledged, will have time tomorrow to look more closely. In the meantime, if it's foundational but does not meet WP:G12 (unambiguously a copyright violation) or WP:G15 (LLM generated content without any human review) it should be sent to WP:Copyright problems, where there are furhter instructions. Sennecaster (Chat) 15:52, 1 November 2025 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @Surayeproject3: I've created a listing at copyright problems (CP) and cleared out some infringing text from a couple of sources I can access. Seconding this, G12 is generally for unequivocal cases, when the entire article is copied from a small number of sources and there is no salvageable non-infringing content; in cases where only a part of the article is copyvio, you can remove the infringing text and request revision deletion; and for more complicated cases such as this article (i.e. not clear-cut infringement, from a multitude of sources), CP is the place to go. (And as a side note for this case, I'm not seeing the obvious LLM tells that would qualify a page for speedy deletion under G15, namely nonsensical references – e.g. invalid ISBNs or DOIs – or incorrect temporality.)
- If you're interested in going further down the rabbit hole of copyvio cleanup, Senne can give you a more in-depth explanation of what that entails. Complex/Rational 16:44, 2 November 2025 (UTC)
- @ComplexRational, thanks for going ahead with the copyvio cleanup on that article and for guidance on proceeding with copyvios on Wikipedia. In regards to your side note, there are a few bogus citations included, namely where pages don't correspond to the content but one that is wholly nonexistent. There are also several grammar choices that are highly indicative of usage of ChatGPT, such as "even" clauses and usage of curly quotes. If it's necessary for this case, I can detail all the issues with the recently struck-through content.
- @Sennecaster, as ComplexRational suggested, I would love advice for copyvio cleanup in case it occurs again in the future. Given the contentious nature of this topic area, I imagine it is likely to be a recurring issue. Surayeproject3 (talk) 16:55, 2 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Surayeproject3; If ComplexRational doesn't feel like it meets G15, it probably shouldn't be deleted under that. Speedy deletion is really narrow, so this will be handled over at Copyright problems (probably by me or MER-C). If you want a copyright cleanup primer, WP:CV101 is a really good starting point. Basically, if you notice a copyright violation and it's not article-wide, you can and should remove that content yourself, request revision deletion (can be done with {{copyvio-revdel}}), and warn the editor (either with a hand-written warning, {{subst:uw-copyright-new}}, or {{subst:uw-copyright}}). If it's article-wide like the one you've mentioned, blanking it with {{subst:copyvio}} and listing it at copyright problems is exactly what you should do. And now that you've mentioned that there's more issues, I will go investigate accordingly over the next few days. The goal of copyright problems is solely to handle copyright issues, we don't deal with POV pushing, so I'm not going to address your claim that there is anti-Assyrian motivation here. Please do not accuse editors of their motivations without specific evidence and genuine behavioral issues in mind. Sennecaster (Chat) 18:01, 2 November 2025 (UTC)

Word extension
[edit]I have a request. Can I get extra 150 words for commenting on the AE report where my edits are being discussed?[3] Thank you. Chronos.Zx (talk) 01:42, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Chronos.Zx I think you should ask this at the AE report as I have very limited chance to review things right now and am merely clearing pings before my day starts. Feel free to link to my comment here. Sennecaster (Chat) 16:40, 9 November 2025 (UTC)

Question about user page
[edit]Hello, firstly, thanks for taking the time to review my case. It took a minute but I'm glad someone finally dealt with it. Though, after being unblocked, my user page still has the suspected sockpuppet template. Is this supposed to be removed by me or an admin? Bubba6t3411 (talk) 17:57, 10 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Bubba6t3411; you are free to remove the sockpuppetry template and category and create your userpage (or blank it/request WP:G7. And, for the former, you're welcome, and I hope you enjoy your time editing :) Sennecaster (Chat) 18:56, 10 November 2025 (UTC)
Question about your undeletion of Guy Schraenen
[edit]@Sennecaster - I just speedy deleted Guy Schraenen for WP:CSD#G12 (copyright). Subsequently I noticed that you undeleted it per a VRT request. Please let me know if the VRT supercedes the G12. — ERcheck (talk) 02:15, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
- @ERcheck, the content is no longer a copyright violation as it is compatibly licensed under the GFDL and CC-By-SA 4.0. The G12 is therefore invalid. Please undelete the article when you get the chance; I don't want to give any impression of wheel warring by undoing your deletion. Sennecaster (Chat) 03:50, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Sennecaster - Can you point me to the location of the license? I'd like to document it on the talk page to prevent future misunderstanding. — ERcheck (talk) 03:56, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
- That information is stored privately in the VRT system where VRT agents with the relevant queue access may confirm; I may have mucked up the template since I very rarely do VRT work on enwiki, but I did place {{ticket confirmation}} on the talk page. Sennecaster (Chat) 03:59, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Sennecaster - Thanks. Restored. Prior to my deletion, another editor tagged with G11. I left that tag. — ERcheck (talk) 04:49, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
