Copy Editor's Barnstar
I award you this Copy Editor's Barnstar for insisting on clear, comprehensible, and grammatically correct articles. Thank you for your copyedit on Line of Duty. Apologies for the trouble you ran into with the reverts. I have struggled with this editor through a few stages of improvement on said article, and I didn't imagine they could find anything wrong with a copyedit. I do sincerely appreciate the work that was accomplished. TheDoctorWho (talk) 23:14, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Dhtwiki: Crap. Can't you double-check the leaderboard first before awarding me? There's a bit of an inaccuracy here. Mox Eden (talk) 12:06, 3 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I see from your individual entry that you should be in fourth place with 13 total articles and still in third with a slightly greater total word count. That can be changed. I somewhat trust editors, especially experienced ones, to save some of that trouble in checking by updating their own leaderboard scores. This time I was hurrying and was wrong. The Working Wikipedian's Barnstar
This barnstar is awarded to Mox Eden for copy edits totaling over 4,000 words (including rollover words) during the GOCE February 2025 Copy Editing Blitz. Congratulations, and thank you for your contributions! Miniapolis 18:25, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mox Eden, I'm MFTP Dan, the editor who requested a copyedit of this article. I appreciate your assistance in giving the article a second pair of eyes after I significantly expanded it, especially with such a rapid response. I also take issue with that just this one time, but that's my fault. The article isn't actually finished and I anticipated a longer wait. Alas, I have been having a difficult personal life since the request, including mourning the loss of a friend followed by an illness of my own which prevented prompt action.

There is one more subsection I need to translate that isn't present content-wise on the English version in any form yet. There was a controversy involving the February 1996 cover of Rolling Stone on which Layne Staley appeared, and I was going to make a new subheading under release. I just wanted to kindly ask if you are not finished with the article tomorrow - say around 9pm EST - would you be willing to let me add that and then revisit the one subsection? If not, would you be open to looking at that specific spot in any case once your copyedit is finished?

Once again, I really appreciate you getting to it so quickly and I'm sorry to ask this. mftp dan oops 04:41, 17 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@MFTP Dan: Yeah, sure. I'll finish it first before then, mark it as done on the Requests page, you ping me once you put the missing subheading in, and then I copyedit that. Deal? Mox Eden (talk) 08:15, 17 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good to me! mftp dan oops 13:21, 17 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, so I've added my section. It is titled "Press relations and Rolling Stone controversy". It comprises about 4,000 bytes. Thank you for all of your help. mftp dan oops 04:06, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@MFTP Dan: Finished! Have a nice day! Mox Eden (talk) 07:45, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am very grateful to you for your help. Here's hoping I can get this to FA in the coming months. mftp dan oops 13:21, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Stay strong!

[edit]

Hello, Mox Eden. I just looked at your user page, and noticed what you said about feeling depressed and stressed, but especially about suffering a significant loss recently, and grieving. I am sorry because of that, and I just wanted to offer you my support and understanding. I know it probably doesn't mean much, from a stranger on the other side of the world... Anyway, I want you to overcome these dark moments, and to remember that light always come after darkness. I wish you the best! — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 14:38, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

[edit]

Thank you for copyediting Rain World. I've been told though that periods should be placed outside of quotation marks if the sentence is a fragment of a quote. For example, if I use a quote "like this, the punctuation should be placed outside of the quotation marks". I'm gonna be busy today though, so it'd be great if you can fix just that little thing. Thanks. Tarlby (t) (c) 16:56, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates

[edit]
Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates

The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/July 2025/Candidates.

Here is the schedule:

  • July 9–15 - Call for candidates
  • July 18–22 - Discussion phase
  • July 23–29 - SecurePoll voting phase

Please note the following:

  • The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
  • Prospective candidates are advised to become familiar with the community's expectations of administrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for RfA candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
  • The process will have a seven day call for candidates phase, a two day pause, a five day discussion phase, and a seven day private vote using SecurePoll. Discussion and questions are only allowed on the candidate pages during the discussion phase.
  • The outcome of this process is identical to making a request for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA versus administrator elections.
  • Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.

Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. A separate user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.

If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

Destubathon runs until the 16th of July

[edit]

Hi, just a courtesy message to notify you in case you haven't seen the Wikipedia:The World Destubathon contest update in the last few days that we've decided to run the full month until the 16th of July. For those who have been too busy to contribute, we would love some help in reaching 4000 articles by Wednesday night! At present we're about 480 articles short!♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:39, 13 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator Elections | Discussion phase

[edit]
Administrator Elections | Discussion phase

The discussion phase of the July 2025 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • July 18–22 - Discussion phase (we are here)
  • July 23–29 - SecurePoll voting phase
  • July 30–c. Aug 3 - Scrutineering phase

We are currently in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages are open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/July 2025/Discussion phase.

On July 23, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's totals during the election. You must be extended confirmed to vote.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last approximately four days, or perhaps a little longer. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (you may want to watchlist this page) and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and must also have received a minimum of 20 support votes. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

XTools issue

[edit]

Hey, regarding the xtools issue: for the last few weeks the main stats failed to run at all on large edit count users and it was only 3 days ago the fix got released. I had not noticed the issue with the automated edit count so I had not investigated or reported that one. However I have found that it works if you break the active period in two: I ran Jan 1, 2013 to Jan 1, 2020 and Jan 1, 2020 to Jan 1, 2026. Both of these took quite some time then reported an error, but hitting refresh then showed the stats. You'll have you crunch the numbers yourself but it's about 55%. Administrator Elections | Voting phase

The voting phase of the July 2025 administrator elections has started and continues until July 29 at 23:59 UTC. You can participate in the voting phase at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/July 2025/Voting phase.

As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • July 23–29 – Voting phase
  • July 30–c. Aug 3 – Scrutineering phase

In the voting phase, the candidate subpages will close to public questions and discussion, and everyone who qualifies to vote will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's vote total during the election. The suffrage requirements are similar to those at RFA.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for approximately four days, perhaps longer. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (this is a good page to watchlist), and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and a minimum of 20 support votes.
