Hi JohnMizuki. Thank you for your work on Bernardino Scardeone. Another editor, Ingratis, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thank you for creating the article. I noticed that it includes translation of part of the equivalent article on it:Wiki. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this! quite the contrary. However, translations from other Wikis do need to be attributed (I've done that for this article). Take a look at Help:Translation § Licensing for further information. Best wishes.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Ingratis}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

@Ingratis: There must be a misunderstanding, I didn't translate from the Italian article, as it is unsourced.

I'm sorry if I've misunderstood. The section "Early life" in the English article is extremely similar to the first two paragraphs of the section "Origini e formazioni" in the Italian one. May I take it that you translated from the Dizionario biografico? The Italian article does also acknowledge this as a source (in fact, its only source), although not in the form of an inline citation. Ingratis (talk) 12:53, 12 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Is this translated from the equivalent article on the Spanish Wikipedia? if so, would you please add the attribution as above, as I see you have recently been doing to your other translations.

For clarity, translation from other Wikipedias is fine as long as it is correctly attributed (but see below). Copying or translating from public domain sources is similarly fine if attributed. Copying, translating or close paraphrasing from copyright sources (such as the Treccani website, for example) is not OK - WP:CLOSEPARAPHRASE. This also applies to articles on other Wikipedias if they are copyright violations. Ingratis (talk) 12:54, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I wrote both articles, the one in Spanish and the one in English. JohnMizuki (talk) 12:57, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh OK, fair enough! I'll add a note to the talk page to stop anyone else bothering you about attribution (not that that's very likely). Best wishes, Ingratis (talk) 17:58, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, JohnMizuki,

I had to fix the formatting on this AFD and I'd like to encourage you to use Twinkle any time you nominate an article/page for any type of deletion (CSD, PROD, AFD/RFD/CFD/etc.). It's a very easy-to-use editing tool and means that you don't have to search for the right templates to use. It also notifies the article creator and leaves an appropriate edit summary. Twinkle is used by most page patrollers and administrators because it makes few mistakes and I'd advise you to give it a try. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 22:10, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Biography articles

Hi there, as a quick tip, please add |blp=no to the banner shell on the talk page of articles of people who aren't alive (BLP=biography of living person). I try to do that myself when I spot them, e.g. at Talk:Alberto Amor, as they get flagged at Category:Biography articles without blp parameter. Autopatrolled granted

[edit]

Hi JohnMizuki, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Chetsford (talk) 16:06, 1 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Uğurcan Yüce (July 30)

[edit]
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Curb Safe Charmer was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
The comment the reviewer left was:
Potentially notable, but you need to add more references that show that his life and work has been written about in depth by multiple, reliable, independent publications. Reliable excludes for example websites that can be edited by anyone such as discussion boards.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.
