Administrators' newsletter – October 2025
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2025).

- After a motion, arbitration enforcement page protections no longer need to be logged in the AELOG. A bot now automatically posts protections at WP:AELOG/P. To facilitate this bot, protection summaries must include a link to the relevant CT page (e.g.
[[WP:CT/BLP]]), and you will receive talk page reminders if you forget to specify the contentious topic but otherwise indicate it is an AE action.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:John Ciardi.jpg
[edit]
A tag has been placed on File:John Ciardi.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file from a commercial source (e.g. Associated Press, Getty Images), where the file itself is not the subject of sourced commentary. If you can explain why the file can be used under the non-free content guidelines, please add the appropriate non-free use tag and rationale.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. REAL 💬 ⬆ 03:52, 23 October 2025 (UTC)

Editor of the Week
[edit]| Editor of the Week | ||
| Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week in recognition of your great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project) |
User:Rosiestep submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:
- I nominate Gobonobo to be Editor of the Week for their long-time efforts to free knowledge. I have known of and interacted with this editor for at least a decade. They completed 100 wikidays, have written around 1,000 new articles, and have made more than 100,000 edits to English Wikipedia and Wikidata. Gobonobo patrols recent changes, reviews draft articles, reverts vandalism, and monitors social media for errors that have slipped through the cracks. They contribute to the Did You Know... section on the mainpage and have uploaded many images to Wikipedia and on Commons. As an editor, they focus on a wide variety of content and try to address systemic bias, especially in regards to gender, racial and geographic biases. They are a member of several WikiProjects, support GLAM initiatives, and have volunteered with Art+Feminism and participated in Black Lunch Table events. They have organized edit-a-thons and led editing workshops at multiple locations. For all of these reasons, I nominate Gobonobo to Be Editor of the Week, though, for the life of me, I'm clueless why this has slipped through the cracks till now. This nomination was seconded by Vacant0 and QuicoleJR.
