Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to living or recently deceased subjects of biographical content on Wikipedia articles, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Information icon Hello, I'm Waxworker. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Mouse Trouble, but you didn't provide a reliable source. On Wikipedia, it's important that article content be verifiable. If you'd like to resubmit your change with a citation, your edit is archived in the page history. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Waxworker (talk) 15:21, 1 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved content from Dog Trouble (1942 film) into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content (here or elsewhere), Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s).

When copying within Wikipedia, at a minimum, give attribution in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination.

Please add attribution if no one has done so yet. If you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. MCE89 (talk) 04:32, 8 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Hhrlan23! Your additions to Dog Trouble (1942 film) have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license—to request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. MCE89 (talk) 04:08, 8 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Copying plot summaries from Fandom

[edit]

Hi Hhrlan23! I've just had to remove the plot summaries of a couple more of the articles you created, and wanted to try explaining why.

On Wikipedia, you generally can't add any text that you have copied from elsewhere, except under a few limited circumstances (the message just above this one goes into a bit more detail about some of the circumstances when you can). One of those circumstances is when the copyright holder has agreed to release it under a certain class of license, which will often be called a free or a compatible license. An example of this is the CC-BY-SA-4.0 license, which is also what Wikipedia's text is licensed under.

You have been copying lots of the text in your articles from the Tom and Jerry Wiki on Fandom. Wikis on Fandom are usually released by default under the CC-BY-SA-4.0 license, which means you can generally use text from most Fandom wikis on Wikipedia. The one rule is that you need to attribute where you got it from to comply with the licensing terms. You can do this using a template like {{Fandom content}} or {{CC notice}}.

But you need to be careful, because Fandom also allows its Wikis to choose not to release their content under this CC-BY-SA-4.0 license. In the case of the Tom and Jerry Wiki, their rules page says that you cannot reproduce, distribute, publicly display or perform, or prepare derivative work of their content without permission. This means that text from the site cannot be copied onto Wikipedia, as it is protected by copyright and hasn't been released under a compatible license.

I completely get that copyright can be confusing, so just let me know if you have any questions about this. The key point is that you need to stop copying text from the Tom and Jerry Wiki. MCE89 (talk) 13:27, 9 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hhrlan23. You've copied another plot summary from the Tom and Jerry Wiki onto Flirty Birdy. Please don't do this again — if you continue to add copyrighted content to Wikipedia, you are at risk of being blocked from editing to prevent further copyright violations. Hi there! I moved your article to Draft:Freeloading Feline because there is no text or references. I added a template for you to submit your draft for review once it's complete. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 22:24, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Al Coe (animator) moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Al Coe (animator). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing as a live article at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Flirty Birdy, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Frank Graham. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 07:53, 20 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Al Coe

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Al Coe requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. A tag has been placed on Category:Films scored by Steve DePatie indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 23:56, 23 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked as a sockpuppet

[edit]
Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively as a sockpuppet of User:SonicClub per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/SonicClub. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
