Question from StadionBgd (09:15, 30 October 2025)

[edit]

Dear GoingBatty,

I am reaching out to you because I have encountered a problem regarding the Princess Helen of Serbia Wikipedia article. I wrote the majority of the content in that article, carefully translating and referencing information from her biography. However, two days ago, user WhiteTailedEagle contacted me because I had added one sentence that did not have a reference immediately following it. The information in that sentence, however, was taken from the same source already cited in the paragraph, so I did not consider it necessary to repeat the reference.

Before I even had the chance to reply and explain this, the user deleted all the content I had contributed — including properly cited sections and images I had uploaded. This was done with a single edit, without prior discussion or warning.

I spent many hours translating and organizing the content to improve the article’s quality, so it was quite disheartening to see all that work removed so abruptly. I replied to WhiteTailedEagle to clarify that the sentence was covered by the existing reference and kindly asked that the deleted content and images be restored.

Unfortunately, I received no response. I sent a second message explaining everything again, but that, too, was ignored. I find it discouraging that a volunteer contributor’s work can be deleted without proper communication or explanation, especially when the intent was to improve the article using reliable, cited sources. Even if there was a misunderstanding, I believe the respectful approach would have been to discuss it first, rather than deleting all my contributions.

Therefore, I kindly ask for your help. If possible, please restore the deleted content from the edit history. If that is not feasible, I am willing to rewrite everything, but I would appreciate some assurance that similar unilateral deletions will not happen again.

Thank you very much for your time, understanding, and support. Sincerely, StadionBgd --StadionBgd (talk) 09:15, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@StadionBgd: Hi there! I hope you're familiar with the Wikipedia:Bold, revert, discuss cycle. You boldly updated the article in good faith, WhiteTailedEagle reverted your edits, and now it's time to discuss. WhiteTailedEagle hasn't edited Wikipedia since leaving the message on your talk page, so maybe they haven't noticed your replies yet. See Help:Notifications for several ways you can send a notification to a user when you want them to read what you wrote on a talk page. I've edited your talk page to send WhiteTailedEagle a notification. Hopefully you two can discuss and come to a consensus. GoingBatty (talk) 01:54, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your response.
The main point I’m trying to make is that I don’t want entire paragraphs — which were translated, written carefully, and properly referenced — to be deleted without prior discussion with me as the original contributor.
Even if there was dissatisfaction with a particular sentence that was added later, that specific part could have been removed, and we could have discussed it afterward. Instead, because of one sentence that seemed to lack a reference, everything I had previously written was deleted, even though references were clearly provided.
If a single sentence was problematic, the rest of the referenced content should have been kept — that’s the whole idea of Wikipedia, isn’t it? We shouldn’t be treating this as a place to exercise authority in a way that feels arbitrary or discouraging.
I’m raising this point because when I work on other articles in the future, I’d like to avoid a similar situation where someone removes all my work simply because they didn’t like a part of it, despite the effort, time, and good intentions behind it — none of which seem to have been acknowledged in this particular case. StadionBgd (talk) 09:56, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@StadionBgd: I understand how anyone would find this situation frustrating. However, any volunteer can revert any other volunteer's contributions. Just like they reverted yours, you could revert theirs. I hope that WhiteTailedEagle responds to you the next time they visit Wikipedia. GoingBatty (talk) 18:55, 3 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

My article biography has been declined can you help me approve it ? --Loganberries (talk) 11:49, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Loganberries: Hi there! I see your Draft:Andrea Chua has been declined and deleted. I see you have three sentences about Chua on User:Loganberries with no sources listed as references. I suggest reading Help:Your first article to learn about gathering sources to write your article draft. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 19:03, 3 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning how can I grow my site please --Jefersoneric (talk) 19:25, 4 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Jefersoneric: Hi there! If you asking how to grow the size of the Ryuko Hira article, then I suggest finding additional independent published reliable sources and adding information based on those sources. If you meant something else, please let me know. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 22:03, 4 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from YBZadeh (09:06, 10 November 2025)

[edit]

Hi GoingBatty, thanks for taking the time to mentor. I have a published paper in a high-ranking peer-reviewed journal. In fact this is the premier journal in the domain of education (Academy of Management Learning and Education). It is common to have a multi-year review process with multiple rounds of reviews in such journals. This was our case. In this paper, we find concrete evidence that cultural diversity has a positive effect on teaching evaluation. As such, this paper has implications for topics related to diversity and those related to teaching evaluations. I tried referring to this paper in a few relevant entries, but I am facing some resistance from editors telling me that I have a conflict of interest, that the evidence is not strong enough, and that there needs to be a secondary source. Our article has recently been covered by a few secondary sources, including the following: The Financial Times Business School Insider (https://ep.ft.com/permalink/emails/eyJlbWFpbCI6ImQ2NTAxMThhNjNmYzAyZjViODY2ZmM3ZjgxNzAyMTRhZmM4MDc3OGQxNzlkNTE5OTU1M2E5NDc1MGU2Njc2YWFlOTVjIiwgInRyYW5zYWN0aW9uSWQiOiJlZTcxOGE1Yy04NTg5LTQyYjktODZkYy1kZjE3NTgxODM3MjgiLCAiYmF0Y2hJZCI6IjY1ZTA3ZjAyLTY2ODctNDg1My1iODU3LWZhN2IxNTAyOWU3ZCJ9) AOM insights (https://journals.aom.org/doi/10.5465/amle.2023.0541.summary) I hope this helps. This article, along with its coverage in secondary sources, contributes to the pages that I edited. Thanks in advance, --YBZadeh (talk) 09:06, 10 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@YBZadeh: Hi there! I see you responded to the other editors' comments on your user talk page, Talk:Diversity, equity, and inclusion, and Talk:Gender studies. When replying to a specific person on a Wikipedia talk page, it's customary to notify them so they are aware of your reply and can read and respond if they choose to do so. I have added a notification for those users on the pages I have linked above, so the conversation with them can continue if they choose to do so. Hope this helps! GoingBatty (talk) 14:44, 10 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@GoingBattyThanks a lot. I had no idea. If they decide to not respond, does that mean that the paper cannot be included in those pages? Thanks, Yashar YBZadeh (talk) 16:16, 10 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@YBZadeh: I haven't read your paper or the related Wikipedia articles. You shouldn't add the paper to the articles, but someone else may choose to do so in the future. GoingBatty (talk) 16:23, 10 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Doboman63 (21:19, 11 November 2025)

[edit]

I've noticed a figure has a mistake on the Zeeman Effect page. How would I make a note that this figure ought to be fixed? (It can be slightly edited, but I am not able to remake the figure anytime soon) --Doboman63 (talk) 21:19, 11 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Doboman63: I suggest reading Talk:Zeeman effect. If someone else has already identified the mistake, then continue the conversation in that section. If not, then start a new section on that page with the details of the mistake. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 21:24, 11 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome thanks! I've put a comment on it replying to a thread, but the last message on said thread was in 2014... I won't wait around for a reply that's for sure. Doboman63 (talk) 21:52, 11 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Doboman63: I pinged the person in the thread who said "I will try to fix it soon" to remind them. GoingBatty (talk) 21:59, 11 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent thank you :) Didn't know one can do that. Will keep in mind for the future. Doboman63 (talk) 18:29, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Note: HJCarter02's mentor Bsoyka is away.

How do I add a photo? --HJCarter02 (talk) 18:10, 16 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@HJCarter02: I enjoy using the Wikipedia:File upload wizard for non-free files such as album covers. But before you worry about uploading an image of the album, be sure you've read WP:NALBUMS and that you add multiple published sources about the album as references. Happy editing! Question from HJCarter02 on User:Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (16:52, 17 November 2025)

[edit]
Note: HJCarter02's mentor Bsoyka is away.

What did they do to my page? --HJCarter02 (talk) 16:52, 17 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@HJCarter02: Looking at the revision history of Pulse (Gryffin album), I see that Praxidicae changed Pulse (Gryffin album) from an article with no sources to a redirect the Gryffin article. If this album meets Wikipedia's notability criteria, I suggest you create it as a draft with the proper references, and then it can be moved into mainspace. Happy editing!
