Hi GregariousMadness. Thank you for your work on Mackey functor. Another editor, MolecularPilot, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Great work, interesting article on a niche topic which we need more coverage of! Clear WP:GNG pass through both the references you have provided and a google search.

Hi GregariousMadness. Thank you for your work on Hungarian mathematics. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thanks for creating this interesting and well-written outline of Hungarian mathematics. The page could do with linking from elsewhere; some of the references could have more details (ISBNs or publication locations for some book entries, for example). No doubt the topic could grow, but it's a good start!

Autopatrolled granted

[edit]

Hi GregariousMadness, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! voorts (talk/contributions) 01:10, 29 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted

[edit]

Hi GregariousMadness. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:

  • Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or Ultraviolet. It just adds a [rollback] button next to a page's latest live revision. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits. For more information about when rollback is appropriate, see Wikipedia:Rollback § When to use rollback.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the permission will be revoked.
  • Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask!

I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, and feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate use of rollback. If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin) and Wikipedia:Rollback. Good luck and thanks! * Pppery * it has begun... 04:28, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Good job with improving 15.ai

[edit]

I see that you're finally doing those "hard" edits that require a lot of compromise and require sacrificing what we think the article should say to make the content reflect more closely what the high-quality sources are saying (as opposed to what *all* the sources are saying). I hope this doesn't come off as patronizing (probably does, but oh well, maybe you won't mind too much ...) but you making these kinds of decisions now, when earlier it seemed a bit like you can't, means that you've matured a lot as an editor and upped your game very significantly, and I'm very happy that that is so. I didn't want to "pressure" you, and waited for exactly this to happen in the 15.ai article, hoping that eventually, you'll sort of synthesize all of the past feedback and, driven by the desire to make it into a legit GA, come to the right conclusions. And that's exactly what has happened! How great! —Alalch E. 16:10, 25 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, it's been a while since we last interacted! No worries, I didn't find your post patronizing at all. I'm actually really happy that you posted here because your patience was one of the biggest reasons why I decided to stick around and ultimately ended up where I am as a Wikipedia editor today. Admittedly, I didn't exactly have the best time when I was still learning the ropes of Wikipedia; whenever I participated in a conversation or asked a question in earnest, it felt like people were being unnecessarily mean or pedantic just because I wasn't yet fully familiar with how things operated around here. Getting told off for doing something wrong by editors with far more experience than me and even getting accused of things like sockpuppetry (twice, and by the same person!) and COI made me want to quit on so many occasions, but I'm very glad that I powered through. Seeing that there were experienced editors like you who were patient enough to lend a newbie editor a hand gave me the courage to continue trying my best to improve Wikipedia. So, thank you! –GM 05:33, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Alalch E. Would you mind taking a look at the SPI discussion I created and please tell me if I am going crazy or not? I know that it does not directly involve you but I recently saw your talk page and am genuinely distressed right now. –GM 23:41, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You shouldn't be distressed. This user who you are referring to and who is not in good standing has clearly been having some issues functioning on Wikipedia, but overall you should not receive their actions so negatively. It's really not a big deal, and they've made some okay/plausible points too at places. Overcoming BRP's misgiving about the article has probably only caused it to become better in the end. About the SPI, strictly speaking, I'd just leave it to the responding to CU and others to process fully. —Alalch E. 23:53, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Alalch E.: Oh, thank goodness. It looks like what I suspected was correct. Thankfully they have been blocked as a sock now. It feels like such a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Sorry for the trouble. –GM 04:14, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No issue. Congrats for making the 15.ai article a legitimate GA, finally! —Alalch E. 22:20, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. A page you created or have recently made significant changes to, 15 (programmer), may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for pages, so it has been blanked and redirected. Three typical reasons for this are that: (1) the article's subject appears to fail our notability guidelines; (2) the article is unsourced; or (3) the sources used in the article are unreliable. The page's history is preserved and it is possible to restore the article: If you believe that this page should remain included on Wikipedia or that this action was taken in error, then you may revert the edit that blanked and redirected the page.

Wikipedia:Your first article has more information about creating articles, and you may also want to read our introduction page to learn more about contributing. Thank you. —Alalch E. 00:11, 8 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Rationale in: Special:Diff/1315668902Alalch E. 00:12, 8 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war, according to the reverts you've made to /mlp/. This means that you are repeatedly reverting content back to how you think it should be, despite knowing that other editors disagree. Once it is known that there is a disagreement, users are expected to collaborate with others, avoid editing disruptively, and try to reach a consensus – rather than repeatedly reverting the changes made by other users.

Important points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive behavior – regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not engage in edit warring – even if you believe that you are right.

You need to discuss the disagreement on the article's talk page and work towards a revision that represents consensus among everyone involved. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution if discussions reach an impasse. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to engage in edit warring, you may be blocked from editing. tony 05:25, 27 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Help adding more recent My Little Pony fan works: L Money the TikTok pony

[edit]

Hello GregariousMadness, recently on my own time I was looking into more recent My Little Pony fandom fan created works. I think adding the fictional original character Prince Little Money or "L Money" may be relavant to improving a few pages. Can you assist me in getting my draft ready to be approved upon submission. Barentz (talk) 20:36, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Barentz: There are no reliable sources for this topic, so the subject does not meet the general notability guideline. Please read those Wikipedia policies (WP:RS and WP:GNG) before continuing to write these drafts. Please also take a look at articles like 15.ai or Military bronies to see how reliable sources are used in these articles. –GM 23:11, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I understand, trying to figure out why it does not meet criteria because L Money is a very well-known internet phenomenon & meme with millions of TikTok views which are available to the public to cross-check, so I was assuming that met the criteria of "Notable topics have attracted attention over a sufficiently significant period of time" .
I'm not sure how to proceed because I do not have a national media article to provide and it had appeared as though Military bronies and 15.ai have national news coverage.
Can it be added as a shorter segment to a different existing article if independent data is provided? Barentz (talk) 23:37, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The thing is that the number of views does not have any bearing on notability. Otherwise, every single TikTok or Twitter meme would have its own article, which is not the case; only memes that have had such a large influence that it merited widespread coverage in actual news articles have their own article (a recent example is 6-7 (meme)). Until you can find independent news articles, scholarly books, or peer-reviewd journals covering this topic, I'm afraid it is not WP:DUE for inclusion on Wikipedia. The closest thing I could imagine is a very brief mention in an article like ponysona or original character, but even then you would still need a reliable source for that. –GM 23:58, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, well I'm gonna bid you a good day then @GregariousMadness I'll just re-start this topic when I have an article/s of coverage. Barentz (talk) 01:08, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Guide to temporary accounts

[edit]

Hello, GregariousMadness. This message is being sent to remind you of significant upcoming changes regarding logged-out editing.

Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.

How do temporary accounts work?

Editing from a temporary account
  • When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern: ~2025-12345-67 (a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5).
  • All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
  • A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
  • As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
    • There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
    • There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.

Temporary account IP viewer user right

How to enable IP Reveal

Impact for administrators

  • It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects the autoblock option.
  • It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
  • Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. On Special:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should use Special:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).

Rules about IP information disclosure

  • Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access is generally not allowed (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or ~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
  • Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward 3RR, but not Hey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67)
  • See Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer § What can and can't be said for more detailed guidelines.

Useful tools for patrollers

  • It is possible to view if a user has opted-in to view temporary account IPs via the User Info card, available in Preferences → Appearance → Advanced options → Tick Enable the user info card
    • This feature also makes it possible for anyone to see the approximate count of temporary accounts active on the same IP address range.
  • Special:IPContributions allows viewing all edits and temporary accounts connected to a specific IP address or IP range.
  • Similarly, Special:GlobalContributions supports global search for a given temporary account's activity.
  • The auto-reveal feature (see video below) allows users with the right permissions to automatically reveal all IP addresses for a limited time window.
