I have sent you a note about a page you started
[edit]Hi Greatben001. Thank you for your work on Derrick Lui. Another editor, QuicoleJR, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Some parts of the article are unsourced and need to have citations added, but this article is good enough.
To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|QuicoleJR}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Disambiguation link notification for October 4
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Yambo Studio, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hardware. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For an unblock to be considered, you must:
- Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
- State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
- Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.
Administrators: if this block includes a Volunteer Response Team ticket number, this block was placed as part of the conflict of interest VRT queue and the user must not be unblocked without the express consent of a user with access to the queue.
Your submission at Articles for creation: Abdulrasaq Abubakar Toyin University (October 16)

Please unblock my account

Request reason:
Please pardon me if any part of this request seems out of place or humorous. I'm new to Wikipedia and I have never found myself in a situation like this. First, I have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements of Wikipedia. I want to state clearly that I am not associated with the subject I have written about or edited their Wikipedia page. So, no conflict of interest. Over 90 percent of the pages I worked on were pages suggested on this list (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Homepage&source=personaltoolslink&namespace=3). I have no affiliation with them, and I don't know them personally. Please, you can verify that. Two or three pages were from here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:AllCatsAreGrey#c-AllCatsAreGrey-20251006014300-Greatben001-20251005185000). This can also be easily verified. My goal is to make a positive contribution to Wikipedia and increase my impact. So far, I have created four pages (two of which have been reviewed, one is pending review, and one has been deleted), as well as one draft. I wasn't paid to make any of the pages, and I didn't have any affiliation with them. To increase my impact, I devised a simple method: creating two pages from every one of my research efforts. To achieve this, I deem it fitting to create a page for an event/action/issue/organization, along with the key figure/contributor, provided they meet the Wikipedia standards. This strategy saves me time and increases my impact because, while searching for an event/issue/organization to write about, I will undoubtedly gather enough resources to develop a page for the key figure/contributor of the event. One thing that possibly led to the conclusion that I was compensated for my edits, or was affiliated with the subjects I wrote about, was the multiple edits I made on the Yambo Studio page, which was subsequently deleted. However, I was only trying to address the concerns raised by the editors, notably the editor who added a Possible Orphan Tag to the page and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:AllCatsAreGrey, who added a Promotional Tag to the page. I thought that if I could address these minor issues, I could then proceed and respond to the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Ternera, who nominated the page for deletion. To address the possible orphan concern, I researched it and added the page to the List of companies of Israel (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_companies_of_Israel), Computer-generated imagery (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer-generated_imagery), and List of animation studios (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animation_studios). To address the issue raised by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:AllCatsAreGrey, I left a message on the editor's page, and he (I assume that is he) responded. I then edited the page based on his comments. After reworking the page, I sent him another message to review it and further edited it to address the issue he had raised. You can verify this here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:AllCatsAreGrey#c-AllCatsAreGrey-20251006014300-Greatben001-20251005185000). It was after I addressed the issues raised that I responded on the nomination for deletion page, but unfortunately, my efforts weren't enough. Regarding the Wikimedia ticket, I indeed uploaded those images, but I have now gained a better understanding of how Wikimedia works. I wholeheartedly tender my apology. I won't upload pictures that are not directly taken by me again. If my account is unblocked, I will desist from editing pages multiple times or responding to any nomination for deletion without consulting an experienced editor on this platform. Additionally, I will strictly adhere to all of Wikipedia's policies and comply with the paid editing disclosure policy. I respectfully request that the blocking administrator or the community consider this appeal and unblock my account. Thank you! Greatben001 (talk) 17:57, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
Decline reason:
I have examined the OTRS ticket in question and verified you have indeed engaged in undisclosed paid editing around Derrick Lui. That alone justifies your block so I stopped looking any deeper than that. Yamla (talk) 18:04, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:
I confirm that I have read and understand the Terms of Use and the paid editing disclosure requirements. I agree to comply with all relevant policies, including those related to transparency, neutrality, and proper sourcing when contributing edits. 84 percent of the pages I worked on were pages suggested on this list (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Homepage&source=personaltoolslink&namespace=3) and here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:AllCatsAreGrey#c-AllCatsAreGrey-20251006014300-Greatben001-20251005185000). I have no affiliation with them, and I don't know them personally. Please, you can verify that. The second link can be easily verified. My goal is to make a positive contribution to Wikipedia and increase my impact. So far, I have created four pages (two of which have been reviewed, one is yet to be reviewed, and one has been deleted), as well as one draft. I was compensated monetarily by Derrick Lui (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derrick_Lui) for assisting in creating his page and converting the Oversteer (film) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oversteer_(film)) Simple Wikipedia page to the standard Wikipedia format. Since my goal is to ensure that all contributions adhere to Wikipedia’s content policies, including those related to neutrality and verifiability, I conducted an initial review of the Simple Wikipedia page and found that it meets the standard format requirements. I did the same for his page. Those are the two pages I was paid to create. To further contribute positively to Wikipedia and increase my impact, I decided to create and edit more pages. I devised a simple method: creating two pages from every one of my research efforts. Regarding the Wikimedia ticket, I indeed uploaded those images, but I have now gained a better understanding of how Wikimedia works. I wholeheartedly tender my apology. In the future, I will comply with Wikipedia’s paid-editing disclosure policy. I will make suggestions on article talk pages rather than editing directly, to avoid conflicts of interest. Any proposed edits will be based on reliable, independent, and verifiable sources, and I will ensure they align with neutrality and Wikipedia’s content policies. I respectfully request that the blocking administrator or the community consider this appeal and unblock my account. Thank you! Decline reason:
I think that this is an excellent unblock request, but given how soon it was received after the prior one, I'm going to suggest that the standard offer of coming back in six months be the approach we take here. signed, Rosguill talk 17:29, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

- Hello User:Rosguill
- Thanks for reviewing my request but I was surprised that my request was decline despite the fact that I took time to draft a detailed response. Could you please explain what you mean by "but given how soon it was received after the prior one" to me?
- I look forward to hearing from you soon.
- Thanks! Greatben001 (talk) 20:43, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- You were lying to us and wasting our time a mere week ago. It's great that you've turned a new leaf and are willing to work constructively, but right now you need to wait before the community can take another chance on you. You can demonstrate your commitment and honesty by being patient, and you can further make your case compelling by contributing to other Wikimedia projects like Wiktionary or Wikipedia in other languages (or Simple English Wikipedia) in the meantime. signed, Rosguill talk 20:51, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- (Non-administrator comment) Hey @Greatben001, it's great that you're able to write such a good appeal (it's pretty rare to see one like this!), the problem is that you broke the trust of other editors in quite a big way. It'll take time and effort to rebuild that, something the Standard Offer is designed to do so take a few to read through the process.
- I second the recommendation to build up a history of good editing on Simple English Wikipedia or another project, then you can come back in six months and present evidence that you're trustworthy and will be an asset to Wikipedia. There are some incredible editors who've been through the same thing you are now.
- It won't be easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is. Good luck! Blue Sonnet (talk) 22:30, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
