St. Joseph Pro-Cathedral
[edit]Hello,
So do we move it to the Former Latin Church cathedrals section?
Roberto221 (talk) 07:48, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Roberto221: No, from what I can tell it was never properly a cathedral, i.e. it never had a cathedra. Immaculate Conception has always been the cathedral, but it's quite small. The diocese used St. Joseph for large scale liturgies at one time and gave it an honorary title. They rarely use it for that purpose now, if ever, but the title continues on if for no other reason than to differentiate it from a Polish parish church of the same name. DMV Catholic stuff
[edit]Only just realized how proximate you are to me given that you took some pics of the recently renovated Arlington cathedral. Let me know if you ever want some sources on DMV Catholic stuff, especially from the Dioceses of Richmond and Arlington. I've recently found myself in a place that allows me increased access to their published materials and I'm hoping to plug that stuff into articles. ~ Pbritti (talk) 04:22, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Pbritti: Thanks. I appreciate the offer, but please do what you can. I’m still trying to get all the Arlington photos uploaded. Hopefully tomorrow. Farragutful (talk) 00:18, 12 September 2024 (UTC)

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message
[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:20, 19 November 2024 (UTC)

The article Trinity Episcopal Cathedral (Sacramento, California) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Notability not established with substantive *independent* sources.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Purple Line images
[edit]Thanks so much for getting documentation of the Purple Line stations under construction! I'm going to have a day or two to get photos around DC later this month; let me know if there's any stations you'd like me to get. Best, Pi.1415926535 (talk) 20:57, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Pi.1415926535: Happy to do it. I was planning to get an updated photo of the Connecticut Avenue station sometime in the next week. The weather forecasts are not promising, so we'll see how that works out. Otherwise, the stations on the far eastern side of the line need images. (Riverdale Park–Kenilworth could use an updated photo.) I have no firm plans to get those at this time. If you wanted to get them, it would be appreciated. I will also have some time later this month, so I'm willing to get them if you cannot. Farragutful (talk) 12:46, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- I managed to grab Silver Spring, Silver Spring Library, Manchester Place, Long Branch, College Park, and Riverdale Park–Kenilworth through New Carrollton today while dodging thunderstorms. I think that gets all stations with recent photos (except Bethesda where there isn't much to see.) Pi.1415926535 (talk) 01:35, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Pi.1415926535: Thanks for getting all of those photos. As it turned out, I didn't have the time to get them myself. I regret the delay in responding to you, but I was not alerted to your response from May until today. I guess it also shows how often I look at my own talk page. Farragutful (talk) 16:26, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
- Glad it was helpful, and no worries about the delay! Pi.1415926535 (talk) 01:44, 11 August 2025 (UTC)

Need help on a discussion
[edit]Howdy Neighbor.
The reason I'm contacting you is that there is a user, Melchior2006, who keeps deleting the See also section from the most recent bishops I've created, (Pedro Bismarck Chau, Simon Peter Engurait, Ralph Bernard O'Donnell) and the one you created, Thomas J. Hennen (bishop). His explanation is that it's overkill, that it's covered in the Category:Bishops appointed by Pope Leo XIV, Category:Bishops appointed by Pope Francis etc. I reverted them and explained to him that it's not, if one wants to lookup the current bishops in the US, use the List of Catholic bishops in the United States or the history of US bishops, use Historical list of the Catholic bishops of the United States and not thumb thru the hundreds of pages in the categories. He apparently started discussion on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Catholicism and claimed that there is a consensus to have it deleted, a consensus of 3 by the way. I've seen discussions started on individual pages and come to a resolution there but not on a WikiProject especially with so few users coming to a consensus.
Now I've been creating bishop page for almost 10 years now, and I've never encountered this before. If someone had a complaint, why did you wait for 10 years?
I was looking at the Articles for Discussion but I wasn't sure if that's what I need to use because it looks like it would also include a deletion which I don't want. Is there any other protocol to use so I can stop this from happening to future bishops I create? Your help and wisdom is greatly appreciated.... Roberto221 (talk) 00:20, 5 September 2025 (UTC)
- Roberto, your re-inserts of "see also" on several Catholic pages is going against consensus. If you continue with this behavior, I will tag you for disruptive editing. -- Melchior2006 (talk) 13:31, 10 September 2025 (UTC)

Procession for Migrants
[edit]The Archdiocese is having a procession for migrants this Sunday.[1] It starts at 2:30 from the Shrine of the Sacred Heart church to St. Matthew's Cathedral. The best way to get there is to take the Green Line to the Columbia Heights station since parking is a challenge. Returning home, Farragut North is the closest station. The pastor of my church is advising those without documents to not attend. I don't blame him since ICE has already detained 2 parishioners of the church. It's supposed to be peaceful but you never know if ICE will be lurking by. I'll be there...Roberto221 (talk) 08:33, 25 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Roberto221: Thanks for letting me know. I'll plan to be there as well. Farragutful (talk) 12:05, 25 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Farragutful: Made the walk today. My brother and I even got a selfie with Bishop Evelio Menjivar-Ayala. Didn't stay for the Mass since my arthritic hip isn't used to walking that much but my brother did. The archbishop ripped Trump a new one without calling his name on his homily. Afterwards, he received a standing ovation. It starts at the 34:00 minute, [2].Roberto221 (talk) 23:51, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Roberto221: I was at the walk as well, and I did stay for the Mass. The homily was great. Cardinal McElroy got quite the ovation after it was done. I took some photos of the event, but I'm having some issues with some of them that I cannot resolve as yet (and I've never had this problem), so we'll see what I can do.
