Speedy deletion nomination of The Restitution of Benin Bronzes: A Case for Cultural Reparations
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on The Restitution of Benin Bronzes: A Case for Cultural Reparations requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://itsartlaw.org/2023/06/19/repatriation-of-the-benin-bronzes-an-ethical-and-legal-discussion/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Wikipedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view
[edit] Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. JBW (talk) 12:42, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

Per our conversation below, I am accepting your unblock request, as you have agreed to the unblock conditions below.
These unblock conditions expire on 18 July 2026, which is one year from today. After you have a few drafts approved and published through AfC, if you would like to appeal your second unblock condition before its expiration, you are welcome to do so by contacting me on my user talk page or by making a request on the administrators' noticeboard.I recommend that you create a user page and disclose that you are participating in the Africa Wiki Challenge 2025. If there is a way for you to provide feedback to the event organizers, I would appreciate it if you could let them know that editors on the English Wikipedia are likely to encounter issues if they directly create the articles linked from the AWC List of Articles under those exact names. Thank you. — Newslinger talk 14:42, 18 July 2025 (UTC)Dalvin23 (talk · contribs) is subject to the following unblock conditions:

- Hi Dalvin23, I have just been informed that you are a participant in the Africa Wiki Challenge 2025, an event that specifically designated articles (including ones that you have been editing) as areas of focus. Please note that in the AWC List of Articles, some of the topics with longer names would not warrant standalone articles per the English Wikipedia's guidelines, and many of them are named in a way that does not meet our article titles policy. I understand that the event is international, so please keep in mind that you'll need to double-check that your edits meet English Wikipedia policies, and not just event criteria. If you have any questions about whether it is appropriate to create an article about a particular topic here, please ask the Teahouse for advice. Thank you. — Newslinger talk 21:54, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
- asilvering, in light of this and Dalvin23's promise to stop creating AI-generated articles, do you have any objections to an unblock? — Newslinger talk 21:54, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Newslinger, I think it's probably a good idea to add an "AfC only" condition as well as the no-AI restriction. -- asilvering (talk) 23:17, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
- Dalvin23, would you accept both of the following unblock conditions to return to editing?
- You are prohibited from using large language models (LLMs) to make edits.
- You are required to use the Articles for Creation (AfC) process to create new articles.
- — Newslinger talk 00:10, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, I agree to both conditions but I do not fully understand the AfC process/condition, please I would like you to explain what it means. Dalvin23 (talk) 01:33, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Dalvin23, it means that you can't create new articles right in mainspace. Instead, you need to submit them for review. The easiest way to do that is to start all new articles by going to WP:WIZARD. -- asilvering (talk) 03:02, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

Blocked as a sockpuppet
[edit]Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice:
{{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}
. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
Unblocked
[edit]After further review and consideration, I have decided to reverse this block. At the time I blocked your account, I did not realize that you were a participant in the edit-a-thon meta:Event:Africa Wiki Challenge 2025/Home. Originally, I blocked this account to prevent sockpuppetry, which refers to the misuse of multiple Wikipedia accounts by a single person to disrupt Wikipedia. However, it appears instead that your account was part of a group of multiple people who were editing as part of the edit-a-thon event. I sincerely apologize for my mistake.
Among the accounts that I had blocked as part of this sockpuppet investigation, I noticed that many of the accounts exhibited the following behaviors. I would like to warn you that the following behaviors may be considered disruptive by the Wikipedia community. (You may not have engaged in some of these behaviors, but some of your fellow edit-a-thon participants did do so, so I wanted to make you aware of them.)
- Using LLMs to post AI-generated content to Wikipedia without careful human review. We have an essay discussing LLMs here: Wikipedia:Large language models. If you do choose to use AI to assist you in editing Wikipedia, you must be careful to understand the limitations of these tools and carefully review the AI-generated content before publishing it on Wikipedia. You should consider disclosing whether content is AI-generated in the edit summaries of your edits.
- Changing national varieties of English. The English-language Wikipedia has a diverse community of English-speaking contributors who may have differences in the way that they spell certain words or use grammar. To make things consistent, we have rules for determining which national variety of English to use which can be read here: Wikipedia:Manual of Style#National varieties of English. When in doubt, I would avoid switching national varieties of English (e.g. travelled vs. traveled or color vs. colour) without first discussing the issue on a talk page.
- Changing date formats. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers#Dates, months, and years for our guidelines on date formats. Please avoid using ordinals like 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. in dates on Wikipedia. For example, instead of 30th July 2025, use 30 July 2025.
- Making many edits that could be accomplished by one. When submitting edits to Wikipedia, I recommend only pressing the "save edits" button once the changes are fully ready to be public. I noticed that some of the accounts involved in this case would sometimes submit edits while they were still in the middle of writing sentences or adding citations. This may be disruptive because readers might see the half-written sentences before you fix them, and it may also give the impression that you are trying to artificially inflate your edit count, which is used to grant you permission to edit certain articles.
I hope that this advice is helpful to you. I apologize once again for this block, and I hope that despite this negative experience, you will still consider joining the Wikipedia community and becoming a Wikipedia editor. Mz7 (talk) 06:06, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
