Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Sohom Datta was:
Neologisms are not considered suitable for Wikipedia unless they receive substantial use and press coverage; this requires strong evidence in independent, reliable, published sources. Links to sites specifically intended to promote the neologism itself do not establish its notability.
 The comment the reviewer left was:
Can you find atleast three media outlets that have covered this event ?
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Hello, D1551D3N7

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Викидим, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Ac1db1tch3z, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Викидим}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:27, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Shadowy figure. I would take a wild guess from .ru

[edit]

You are worried about Vandalism of Hydra Market. which suggests you might have had some sort of involvement with that Darknet Market which is now closed.

I note my Wikipedia discloses a lot where as yours reads like a supporter of Putin. it even has a warning on your profile. Xuid0 (talk) 01:12, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

🤣🤣🤣 D1551D3N7 (talk) 01:14, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

FWIW, I don't think that's an AI-generated conversation. I think it is fairly typical hagiography for that page and comes from someone who, if I had to guess from the editing history, has a very substantial undeclared COI. Wouldn't astonish me to learn that some or all of the sockpuppets who have edited that page over the years did so from that IP. Brammarb (talk) 21:54, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm very confident that specific message is AI generated. Most of the online AI text detection tools give it almost 100%. It's lifting text from this page: https://drpatricktreacy.ie/pages/books and other search results. It's even taking "Prof." from his website when surely a normal commenter would use "Dr." D1551D3N7 (talk) 22:04, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly not a normal commenter: we can agree on that much. Brammarb (talk) 22:34, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, D1551D3N7, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia. Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who misuse multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. Not really sure where this notice is coming from. I only have one account and don't coordinate my edits with people outside of Wikipedia.

Genealogical resources

[edit]

To some of us that Wikipedia is not as much of a genealogical resource as it could be is nothing to celebrate...just an area for improvement.72.80.84.163 (talk) 22:26, 5 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Jazz Wolf moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Jazz Wolf. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and in particular, the article needs at least one and preferably two more reliable independent sources with significant coverage of the subject. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. SunloungerFrog (talk) 08:14, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Jay Healey

[edit]

Hi. I'm curious why you removed Jason Healey from Category:People associated with computer security? He is a professor of that topic, helps organize one of the tracks at DEF CON, and has several decades of operational experience at the White House, Goldman Sachs, and the USAF. Thanks, Bill Woodcock (talk) 13:49, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
He is in Category:Writers about computer security which is a subcategory of Category:People associated with computer security.
People associated with computer security is a diffuse category (WP:DIFFUSE) and if you read the infobox on the category page it states "Pages in this category should be moved to subcategories where applicable. This category may require frequent maintenance to avoid becoming too large. It should directly contain very few, if any, pages and should mainly contain subcategories.".
Hopefully this answers your question! D1551D3N7 (talk) 14:05, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Understood, thanks! Bill Woodcock (talk) 14:47, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet investigations/Brandon Karter

[edit]

hello @D1551D3N7 I am not connected to the accounts Brandon Karter, Cyfbain, or Cadwaladres. “Vedrix” is my only Wikipedia account.

In the Vivo Y400 5G article, I added welshoutlook.uk as a reference because I found it during a Google search for the keyword “Vivo Y400 5G” and saw that multiple websites were reporting similar content. I assumed it was a genuine source at the time and added it in good faith. I have no ownership, affiliation, or connection with that website, and I am not involved in any coordinated or paid editing.

My edits are my own research from public sources. I have never communicated with the other named accounts, nor have I worked as part of any editing group. Vedrix (talk) 02:24, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you should add a comment to the SPI report here Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Brandon Karter instead of messaging me here.
I think your explanation is reasonable and an admin should be able to discern you are separate from them using CheckUser. The main sockpuppet vandalised the report page earlier which may have prevented you from commenting but it looks fine now D1551D3N7 (talk) 02:29, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for letting me know. I’ll add my statement directly to the SPI report page now. I appreciate you acknowledging my explanation . I have no connection with the other accounts, and I’m confident CheckUser will confirm this. Vedrix (talk) 02:44, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello D1551D3N7, and thanks for patrolling new pages!
