Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]
Hello Chorchapu! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § Licensing.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Moxy🍁 02:19, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

In The News
[edit]Hey. I noticed your ITN nomination of October 2025 No Kings protests when it mentioned me. My condolences that it didn't pass, but as you know, the reward for work is more work, so could I please ask you to take a look at Operation Containment and see if should be nominated? The deadliest police action in Brazil's history, with well over a hundred killed and outrage the ministerial level, seems worth a news blurb. I'm afraid I'm a bit poorly and stupid - mostly stupid - so I think bothering someone who knows their way around ITN would be more successful than trying to nominate it myself. --Kizor 18:20, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hello! Thanks for your question. Operation Containment was already posted, on 30 October by Schwede66. It's rolled off in favour of more recent blurbs by now though. Thanks, Chorchapu (talk | edits) 18:42, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
Well, that was easy. :P Thanks for the info, sorry for bothering you. --Kizor 20:38, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
- No worries, Feel free to nominate any other items you find MP-worthy! Chorchapu (talk | edits) 23:25, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
Determining page number in long documents
[edit]Hello. I saw your #NOV25 edit here. A concern I have is that you didn't insert a {{Reference page}}. It helps narrow down where the actual citation is. Thank you. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 20:44, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
- I've added it now, thanks for letting me know. I've seen those page numbers by refs but never knew how to get them. So thanks for this! Chorchapu (talk | edits) 23:23, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
- Absolutely no problem. If you have questions about anything, feel free to reach out to me. See you around again, hopefully. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 01:25, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

Hello. I was reviewing your #NOV25 edit here in 1984 in philosophy. When I click on the link to the citation, the citation says, "Document Not Found". Maybe you copied-and-pasted the wrong URL as the correct URL ([1]) seems to differ from the one in the article. Reckon you quickly fix this issue so I can accept the edit or I'll have to reject it. Thank you. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 18:57, 10 November 2025 (UTC)
