Draft:Femtanyl

  • Comment: Ref 2 is a strong maybe, ref 4 and 6 don't have that much coverage and the former is one of those short "this person released X [music format], listen to it here" articles, and the remaining sources are not independent of the subject. 💽 🌙Eclipse 💽 🌹 ⚧ (she/they) talk/edits 16:05, 25 January 2025 (UTC)

Noelle Mansbridge (born June 6, 2003[1][2]), also known as femtanyl,[a](stylized in all lowercase) is a Canadian music producer and vocalist.[4] She is noted for her depressive and nostalgic themes, as well as her heavily distorted breakcore inspired beats[5].

Career

[edit]

Around 2019, Mansbridge began her career as a musician under the moniker draft.__ before changing it to LilyNiku in 2022, and then femtanyl in 2023. She deleted the entirety of her old catalog in December of 2023, citing mental health as the main reason for doing so.[6]

Signed to SpikeChain Records, femtanyl released her first EP CHASER in August 2023.[7] In 2024, she served as a supporter for a Machine Girl tour[8] and, in October, collaborated with Danny Brown for the single "M3 n MIN3".[4] She released the EP REACTOR in November.[9] Her work has received acclaim from both critics[citation needed] and artists such as Danny Brown[10] and Machine Girl.[11] In April of 2025, she announced a small tour with fellow digital hardcore producer METAROOM.[12]

Artistry

[edit]

femtanyl's musical style has been characterized as digital hardcore.[2][4] Pitchfork characterized her songs as "old-skool rave music" that often feature "chattering percussion" and "peaky synths" with loud distorted vocals. Release covers feature graphically violent drawings of a cat-like creature named Token.[2] Mansbridge works alongside her girlfriend, DJ and visual arts designer Skyla Hearsethief.[citation needed] She has frequently published much of her self made artwork online on platforms such as Twitter and YouTube.

Personal life

[edit]

Mansbridge is a trans woman. She references the consumption of estrogen on her song "MURDER EVERY 1 U KNOW!" and began transitioning around September of 2022.[13] According to her Twitter account, she began taking HRT in July 2023[14]. She currently resides in Toronto.

She has previously mentioned her struggles with fentanyl abuse in the past and the impact music had on her, stating "i saved my own life with my music" on an online post made in January of 2025[15].
