Discussion: Issues on race articles being made months in advance.

[edit]

This is mostly for next season, but I've noticed that some race articles are made months in advance, like the 2025 Craftsman 150 was made in May, and at the time, that's way too soon and could be a WP:Toosoon violation. Most of these articles get redirected.

I am wondering if there's a time frame on when these articles could be appropriately made without possibly violating WP:Toosoon? MysticCipher87(alt-account) (talk) 20:35, 10 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I’ve noticed a pattern with this…@Mblock150 is the user who has done these redirects…this is a problem in the cup series too. we’re making the actual pages early and yes have early redirects too. pinging @45BearsFan aswell for thoughts. I also know that the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship Race article redirect was deleted for the same purpose. since the season(s) are almost done, leave it for now and will begin a new process: Sunday after the Cup Race, make the articles. yeah, i was thinking a month beforehand. 45BearsFan (talk) 00:54, 11 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@MysticCipher87(alt-account) i started to make the 2026 daytona 500 article, i figured since we're at martinsville, and we effectively need a placeholder for 2026, i made it. 45BearsFan (talk) 17:14, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for 2025!

[edit]

hey everyone! just wanted to say great job during the 2025 Season! we accomplished a lot and now we just wait for the 2026 Clash to begin again…

for making O'Reilly and Truck Series pages, we should have a new process: Sunday after the Cup Race, make the articles.

we can start the operation of moving "NASCAR Xfinity Series races at" to "NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series races at (FULL track name)".

congrats to Corey Heim, Jesse Love, and Kyle Larson for being champions and you gotta feel bad for Connor Zilisch and Denny HamlinBrycenrichter (talk) 01:12, 3 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, the results of championship races (2004-2025) at Phoenix/Homestead (Cup, Xfinity and Truck) should not be removed from NASCAR Cup Series at Phoenix Raceway and Homestead races articles because in the end, it is still a Cup/Xfinity/Truck race at Phoenix/Homestead and for NASCAR statistics notes it's still counts as a Cup/Xfinity/Truck race at Phoenix/Homestead. And also for a non-NASCAR fan, they will think for example that the 2nd Cup Series race at Phoenix stopped being held after 2019, which is obviously not the case. So in my opinion the result of the races should be listed in Cup/Xfinity/Trucks articles, even though they are the Championship Race (so just add a note to specify that they were the Championship races). I get the championship race get it's own article but I think removing the results from the articles and adding them only to the "Championship race" page is creating unnecessary confusion. "Chevrolet ZL1" / "Chevrolet SS"

[edit]

Hi all, Finn Shipley is adding "Chevrolet ZL1" / "Chevrolet SS" to relevant NASCAR drivers in the lead sections of these WP:BLPs, and I would assume to team articles as well. In what basis is this being done off of? We cannot make up model names and put them in wikivoice, and/or imply that we have gone backwards and are now using the Chevrolet SS again (an older model now) in the the B series. ―"Ghost of Dan Gurney" (hihi) 02:50, 13 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

There's another 6th gen Camaro model called the SS, so I wanted to try and distinguish it from the ZL1 and link it from that section of the Chevrolet Camaro (sixth generation) page since they're both from the same car Finn Shipley (talk) 21:08, 13 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Then why are you piping the links to avoid saying "Camaro"? Why do they need distinguishing at all? If there is doubt as to the model or trim level being marketed, we can just say "Chevrolet". ―"Ghost of Dan Gurney" (hihi) 23:52, 13 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
They've stopped using the Camaro name after last year since it was already discontinued but the bodies and models are still used. It would make more sense to use the trim model marker (ie. ZL1) for specifics with the model like with Ford and Toyota instead of just the name of the company. Unless if its for the GM announcement then we could leave them off for the time being until its all confirmed. Finn Shipley (talk) 03:22, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
They just announced an updated Camaro.... There was never a reason to omit "Camaro" and we don't need the excessive detail of trim levels.

I've just added back Camaro to articles of drivers that drive a Chevrolet in Cup and O'Reilly (at least the ones that hadn't been filled in yet) Finn Shipley (talk) 18:24, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
