Question from HussainJalbani (07:37, 25 June 2025)

[edit]

Hey, how do i create new article? --HussainJalbani (talk) 07:37, 25 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome! Creating a new article from scratch is extremely challenging, and new editors are strongly recommended to spend a few months learning how Wikipedia works, by making improvements to some of our existing seven million articles before trying it. When you do decide to have a go at a new article, you are highly encouraged to read Help:Your first article. If you haven't already also check out the tutorial; it's a lot of fun! Happy editing! Question from ArgonForge (01:27, 2 July 2025)

[edit]

Hi! This is interesting. I edited a page for the first time a moment ago and my change was understandably reverted, though I think mistakenly. So I made a login to see how all this works on Wikipedia, for once.

I guess my first question is how to substantiate my edits. What makes something stick? In this case it was the diameter of a specific type of half dollar coin that I happen to have and measured as significantly different than what's listed on the page for it. But I'm curious about the process more generally too. --ArgonForge (talk) 01:27, 2 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@ArgonForge: nice username! Thing number one is to ensure that your changes are cited to a reliable source. In your example, that is actually prohibited by our policy against original research—we can't measure things in the real world; we rely on preexisting published sources instead. Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 00:17, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! That does make sense, now that I think of it that way. I will have to be more careful going forward. ArgonForge (talk) 03:39, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Savagenerd (00:17, 6 July 2025)

[edit]

I am a new contributor is there a page where I can learn more of what to do and what not do? --Savagenerd (talk) 00:17, 6 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Savagenerd: Help:Getting started contains some great tips :) HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 00:08, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from HeroCunucu (17:48, 8 July 2025)

[edit]

Thank you for your help! I reloaded a Wikipedia page for consideration that seems to meet all of the key points for an Academic page and included references. However, I just got a note that the Wikipedia person recommended it for speedy deletion. I'm really confused and frustrated with this process. Can you review the page and give me feedback where the issues are? --HeroCunucu (talk) 17:48, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@HeroCunucu: you can see the criteria for academics article inclusion—reviewing that, are you confident that the article will qualify? Once you are sure the page qualifies, it is really hard to review it because of the its format—not your fault, because Wikipedia formatting is challenging! Paragraph breaks are essential for reading comprehension and sources should be cited according to our guide to citing sources, which create our famous clickable blue numbers.[1] Because this is a longer article, sections sections would help a lot. Let us know if you have any other questions; often the Teahouse can lead to a faster response. Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 00:15, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

How do I express my comment on a talk page? --NILKNARFGonzo (talk) 17:51, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@NILKNARFGonzo: If you want to reply to a comment, click the [reply] button. If you want to start a new section, there is a "add topic" button at the top of the screen. Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 01:47, 6 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Paper Boat Creatives (16:54, 5 August 2025)

[edit]
Paper Boat Creatives's mentor Liance is away.

Hello sir. I am writing to seek your kind assistance regarding a Wikipedia page I recently created and published in the main space. The article is titled "Galaxy Films (Kerala)" and was moved from draft to main space over a month ago. However, despite the time that has passed, the page is still not appearing in Google search results when searching for the name "Galaxy Films (Kerala)." I have ensured the page follows Wikipedia’s content guidelines and is properly formatted, but the indexing or visibility issue still persists.

I would be grateful if you could kindly look into this matter or guide me on any further steps I need to take to ensure the page becomes visible on search engines. --Paper Boat Creatives (talk) 16:54, 5 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! For pages to be indexed, it first has to be reviewed by a new pages reviewer (I am one) - the page does not seem to be reviewed yet by one. I looked over the page and I will not approve it yet, as the wording appears to be a bit WP:Promotional in sections such as A particularly remarkable moment came in 2012 when the company released two major star-led films, where words such as "particularly remarkable" could be seen as WP:Puffery. Thanks, ~delta (talkcont) 01:53, 6 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
