Thanks for uploading File:RS Basingstoke F.C.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Writing style
[edit]Hey Wfclegend, good work expanding multiple football club pages recently. One thing you should know for future reference, though, is that you should try to write in an encyclopedic manner as much as possible. I've seen you use exclamations and stuff generally along the lines of WP:PUFFERY on these articles (for example as we speak there is some on Awbridge F.C.). Just try and limit that in the future. Also, please try and make your sources not be bare URLs. You can either use templates in the source editor, or just use the visual editor and have it convert them if that's easier.

[edit]Hi - just looked at the history of Hedge End Rangers F.C. and saw that all your edits on it were marked as minor. Just wanted to let you know that the minor edit checkbox is meant to be for just really tiny edits (like formatting or fixing a single typo) - anything that adds or removes something to an article shouldn't be marked as minor. [edit]The amount of time you have spent researching is not a factor for notability, nor is the age per se. The page isn't acceptable even disregarding notability. If you have a conflict of interest, you must declare it.
Also read the following regarding writing an article:
- you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the club, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, logs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the club claims or interviewing its management. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls
- Most of your text was completely unreferenced, and of the three bare url sources you did give, the first said "no other facts", the second didn't mention him, and the obituary said nothing about the club apart from Crompton's presidency. Basically, nothing you have said is verified apart from where they play.
- Nothing you wrote, even if verified, shows how the club meets the notability criteria linked above.
- The club doesn't seem to have any employees, management structure, funding or expenditure.
- You appear to be writing the article backwards. Find independent verifiable sources first and write text based on what they say. Don't write the text in the vague hope you can find references later.
- You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
- Unsourced claims include one of the top amateur sides in Southampton, enjoying great success in their hey-day... The fifties saw Netley win countless trophies... These successes... and so on
- There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
- You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
- I didn't check.
The fact that other articles have not been deleted doesn't help you, either they met the criteria or should be deleted as well. See What about article x?. Also note that many articles would have been accepted before the notability guidelines were made stricter.
Your text comes nowhere close to meeting Wikipedia editing standards; if you try again, write it as a draft and submit for review, but bear in mind that it might be rejected on notability anyway. Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources.
I now see that you have contributed to several other club articles, which have the same problems, with references absent or of very poor quality (such as the clubs' websites).

Tone and neutrality
[edit]Hi, just some further advice following some my edits and comments I can see above.
An encyclopaedia has a dry, neutral and factual tone. Wikipedia does not have any opinion about a club's season, good or bad. It does not have an opinion whether relegation is unfortunate, or promotion is well deserved. It does not think it sad when a club has to wind up.
It does not decide if something happens "soon" or "immediate". If it is notable that something happened on a date, include it and let the reader decide if that is soon, or late.
That doesn't mean you cannot say any of the above, if they are attributable opinions that you can provide a cite for. It also of course help if it is the opinion of someone notable. An expert, an authority or a recognised commentator. But you cannot have it appear as either your, or Wikipedia's, opinion.

[edit] Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to Whitecroft & Barton Sports F.C.. I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:
|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]
Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:
|image=SomeImage.jpg.
There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!!
